I'd been meaning to get back to that meme-y jazz piano video I released over a year ago, and this contest was a good kick in the butt to get me back to it. I've also been watching a lot of jazz lessons over the past year, and while I still have a lot to learn I hope this feels like a new and improved cover relative to my previous version :) Hope you enjoy!

Piano tutorial for the South Province overworld theme from Pokemon Scarlet/Violet! It's been about a week since the game released, and I've really been enjoying it! I'm having a lot of fun with the open-ended exploration, and the music is some of the coolest dynamic music I've seen in a video game.

I've been enjoying this chill track a lot while exploring the world, so I decided to transcribe it to learn on piano! Unfortunately, some parts of this track aren't playable by just one pianist, but I still enjoyed figuring out the notes. Hope you enjoy this video, and have fun exploring the new region!

Genshin 3.0 hype! I'm super stoked that we finally get to explore the new Sumeru region. As always, Yu-Peng Chen and the music team absolutely nailed the new region's soundtrack, retaining that Genshin style while giving it a unique Sumeru feel. I can't wait to hear more of the music as I explore Sumeru!

I first heard the flute version of song in the Tighnari trailer, and I fell in love with the gorgeous piano version used in-game in the first forest section of Sumeru. It has such a calm and peaceful vibe that every time it shows up, I just stop and listen to the track. Hope you enjoy this piano cover as much as I enjoyed learning it!

As a Xenoblade Chronicles fan since the release of the XC1 localization on the Wii, I couldn't be more excited that Xenoblade 3 has finally released. I'm about 20 hours in so far and loving it - I can't wait to experience another XC story for the first time!

I've been traveling recently and haven't had the time to sit down at the piano, but I did get a chance to transcribe the main theme, another gorgeous solo piano track in the vein of the XC2 main theme. I used the original game audio for this video - it took a lot of work to line up the MIDI notes with the original audio, but as a consequence I'm confident that I produced a reasonably accurate version. Hope you enjoy, and maybe one of these days I'll get around to learning this on piano too!

I didn't expect the world quest for Tsurumi Island to be my favorite Genshin content in quite some time, but Ruu and Kapatcir's story got me emotional like very few other story chapters have. That final set of cutscenes with the singing especially hit me in all 3 of my feels :''')

I was inspired by the arrangements from the rhythm minigame to make this Floral Zither & Windsong Lyre duet of Ruu's Song, with some backing instrumentals just like the event music. I really enjoyed working on this song; hope everyone is having fun with the new zither gadget as well :)

Hard to believe it's been over a year since I started playing Genshin Impact! The past 12 months have flown by, but Genshin has been a constant companion through the good times and bad.

I've really been enjoying the new music for Tsurumi Island - the tracks are very emotional and almost sound like they came from a drama series xD This track was one of my faves, so I had to give it a quick cover on piano! I didn't get to put in the backing instruments this time around (I couldn't figure out how to get the right synth sound), but hope you enjoy the solo piano version!

Genshin Impact 2.0 is finally upon us after months of waiting, and I can't wait to explore all of Inazuma and dive deeper into the main storyline! I plan to take my time playing through the new content (though I've already binged a decent chunk of the story quest), but I'm obsessed with the new additions to the soundtrack already. I love how well Yu-Peng Chen delivers on the Japanese-inspired style!

I played a piano cover of one of my favorite new tracks from Inazuma, one of the BGMs from the Inazuma wilderness. However, this melody is also featured prominently in Ayaka's story quest and her trailer (but no more spoilers from me) - so I'm calling it "Ayaka's Theme" :P I love the wistful feel of this song, and the strings kicking in at the end are just 💯💯💯. I recently finished the story quest for the Golden Apple Archipelago released this update in Genshin Impact! While I won't spoil anything for people who haven't finished yet, I really enjoyed it! It had so many cute and heartwarming moments, and the whole feel of the new event was like the relaxing summer vacation that I won't get to take this year :'''') My only complaint is that I have never pulled Jean so I can't get her summer outfit, but at least Barbara's is very cute!

One of my favorite parts of the new event was the OST! Yu-Peng Chen and HOYO-MIX have done it again, with a gorgeous new soundtrack that really captures the calm feeling of being surrounded by the beautiful ocean. Another last minute offering to the gacha gods before the Eula banner today! I really enjoyed Eula's character demo video, especially the Latin dance-style version of the Mondstadt battle music mixed with the music from Eula's previous trailer. I had a lot of fun working on this one, and I think the trailer music lent itself well to a piano arrangement ^^

Zombieland Saga was a show I loved much more than I expected to. I'm not much for idol shows, but I was hooked on ZLS from the first episode 3 years ago. I'm really happy to be able to watch a second season! Looking forward to lots more fun and nice music, plus plenty of Tae shenanigans :P

I really enjoyed the first ZLS OP, and I think the season 2 OP really nailed the same feel as the first! I'm a big fan of the upbeat style and all those brass backing tracks. I hope this piano arrangement captures some of the same energy as the original version; please enjoy it!

Piano cover of one of the gorgeous night tracks from the new region, Dragonspine! I actually managed to drag myself away from playing Genshin long enough to make this short cover + Synthesia tutorial. I've been seriously obsessed with this phenomenal soundtrack by Yu-Peng Chen, and hopefully I'll have some more Genshin music coming in 2021 (again, if I can drag myself away from playing the game lol).

The music from the Dragonspine region is just as amazing as the rest of the OST (though I will admit I'm more biased toward the Chinese-style tracks from Liyue). This track in particular gave me some nice wintery vibes with its chord progressions, so I wanted to give it a go! Hope you enjoy this cover, and have fun learning it if you are so inclined :)

Crown Tundra is finally upon us (well, a couple weeks ago), and I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm particularly digging the Dynamax Adventures; it's been fun teaming up with friends to go after those legendaries, and I've enjoyed the roguelike elements. I haven't gotten particularly far in the main plot (I need to soft reset for stats on some of the legendaries ugh), but I've really liked what I've seen so far!

I've gotten the Freezington background music stuck in my head on many occasion, particularly that memorable melody on the music box. The chord progressions go some pretty interesting places, and overall the track really nails that cold, slightly depressing vibe that Freezington is going for. I decided to try playing it on piano, and threw in a Synthesia tutorial while I was at it. Hope you enjoy!

After all these years, I'm finally making a video with Rena's face in the thumbnail ❤️❤️❤️ If it weren't obvious enough from my YouTube profile picture, Higurashi is one of my all-time favorite anime and perhaps the only reason I ever got into anime and am doing what I do now. I'm excited to see a new season of Higurashi that I hope can bring a whole generation of new fans into the franchise!

The new OP by Asaka has a nice old-school horror feel that definitely gives me nostalgic vibes about the old Higurashi show. It's been three long years since the second season of Osomatsu-san ended, but Season 3 is finally here! I enjoy this show way more than I sometimes like to admit, and I couldn't be happier to see it return. Since I made arrangements for both of the OPs from the previous season (also by AOP), I thought I'd take a crack at this one as well!

This new song is catchy as hell and full of little details I love (brass licks yes please!). Still, it was a bit of a struggle to make this arrangement since this song is cursed with the dreaded "vocalist speaking / rapping", is always challenging to arrange for piano. I also had some fun with the chorus part, which was initially a little repetitive without all the small details. Hope you enjoy this one!

Piano cover of Acacia, from the Pokémon "Gotcha!" special music video! Man, it's been a long time since I've seen something that has hit me in the feels as much as this music video. Like a lot of '90s kids, I grew up playing and watching Pokémon; this video was like a trip down memory lane for my entire childhood and definitely got me a bit teary-eyed by the end. (Of course, I'm still playing plenty of Pokémon today - Crown Tundra hype!)

This track by BUMP OF CHICKEN is catchy and upbeat with just the right hint of nostalgia. I didn't feel like my piano skills could do this one justice, so I made this Synthesia tutorial rather than playing it myself, which let me do some more complicated things with the arrangement. Happy 10th anniversary, Xenoblade Chronicles! Anyone who knows me well knows how much I adore this game. I played the original Xenoblade on the Wii back in 2012 and instantly fell in love. We're blessed now to have the Definitive Edition release on the Switch, and I'm so excited for more people to get to try out this amazing game ❤️

I finished Future Connected and got to hear the beautiful new acoustic arrangement of Beyond the Sky for the end credits. I've always wanted to cover a Xenoblade song, and since a good chunk of this new version was solo piano, I decided to give it a go! This song is a bit harder than most piano pieces I attempt, so it took me a couple weeks of regular practice to actually be able to play it. I'm happy with how it turned out though, and I hope you'll enjoy this cover as well!

Piano cover of the Nami you Kiitekure ED, "Pride" by Harumi. Wave is currently my favorite show of the season; it's hilarious and Minare's voice actress is so impressive. This ending song is also my favorite song so far, directly manipulating my weakness for slower tunes with strong female vocalists, and I also enjoyed some of its more trance-y elements.

After looping this song for ages, I decided to try playing an arrangement of it. A lot of this song's beauty is in how all of the different textural elements fit together, and that definitely doesn't come across in a piano arrangement. Still, I enjoyed playing it and I hope you enjoy my cover :)

It's been nearly half a year since I've uploaded any covers. I've lost a lot of my motivation for making music due to some personal events, but I'm trying to ease back into things a bit. This song caught my attention while I was sampling the new shows this season; I've only heard flumpool's faster songs, so this softer one came as a surprise for me. It's hard to believe that we're at the end of another year and another anime season. I enjoyed Zombieland Saga from this past season way more than I thought I would; it was a ton of absurd fun and definitely something I needed in my life. I fell in love with the ED, Hikari e, from the very first moment I heard those beautiful vocal harms.

As my first chorus project, this cover was pretty challenging for me (all you mixers who do this regularly for CBs/other projects, teach me pls). I was nervous about tackling the mix but I'm pleased with how everything turned out :) I've learned a lot working on this project and will be more confident my next chorus, whenever that may be!

Thank you so much to my vocalist collaborators Tevy, Seika, KanaChi, Aika, ikon and Aerin for bringing this project to life! It's been a busy year for us all, and I'm so grateful for everyone's hard work despite your busy schedules. I especially appreciate your patience along the way as I spammed WIPs on Discord and relentlessly bothered everyone about parts. I've sampled a couple of shows this season, and Irozuku is the one I've liked the most so far; I like the setup and the visuals are really pretty. The OP sequence hasn't been shown yet but the music was in episode 1 and I really enjoyed it. Definitely looking forward to see how this music works out with the OP animation. Hope you like it!

Cover of Long Hope Philia (TV Limited), the second ending theme for My Hero Academia 3rd Season. Apparently it's also the ending song for the first My Hero Academia movie, but I liked the softer acoustic style for this version more than the more rock style of the movie version. I've enjoyed BokuHero for years now but had never gotten around to making a cover - until now! I'm actually in awe at both songs from the second half of this season; they're both amazing and definitely my favorites so far.

I kinda rushed the tempo on my playing because I was so jittery (and sleep-deprived) when I was recording but ehhh :''') Hope you enjoy this cover!

Cover of the insert song from the first episode of Island! The premiere of Island was...kinda mediocre in my opinion, but I did think the insert song was pretty decent and I've always had a soft spot for Yukari Tamura (she was my first ever voice actress crush). I had to piece together the full chorus from episode 1 and the Island PV, but in any case, here's my cover of "Lasting Memories." I did appreciate the chord choice in this song and the modulations between the minor and major modes.

I'll be at Anime Expo for the next week or so, so I won't be particularly active. Let me know if you'll be there though! I plan to play some live music and maybe even do a livestream? We'll see 8)))

Cover of Kimi no Tonari, the ending song for Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. The noitaminA shows are almost always ones I look forward to during each new anime season, and I've been impressed with Wotakoi after the first two episodes. I really enjoyed the ending number by halca; it's cute and catchy, and the melody reminds me of Love & Roll, one of my favorite Supercell songs. Since there's some lead-in for the ED, I wasn't totally sure at what point to start, but I decided to leave in a few measures of intro. Hope you enjoy this one!

I'm a big Hiroyuki Sawano fan, so I immediately listened to his new songs for the season and fell in love with this one. His ballads are the best :D I watched the first two episodes of the new Galactic Heroes out of curiosity, but have really enjoyed it so far. Wait, didn't I cover this song already? As it turns out, my piano cover from before was unplanned. I poked my friend Mong the day the first episode of KoiAme aired and we decided to do a collab on this song, but in the process I came up with some solo piano version and decided to upload that. But this piano/vocal version is the REAL release for this gorgeous Aimer song and the one I'm most excited to share! I think our project turned out very nicely; hope everyone enjoys it! (:

I've been hoping for a opportunity to collab with Mong ever since we worked together on the Brave Shine CollabDaisakusen project and I thought she had an amazing voice. Cover of Ref:rain, the ending song to Love is Like after the Rain. I definitely have a soft spot for these romance anime with odd setups, and I really enjoyed the first episode (even if I thought main girl was being a lil creepy). The ending theme is gorgeous; Aimer's voice really shines in these piano ballads.

I wasn't originally going to do a solo piano cover of this song, but I spent long enough playing around with it on piano yesterday that I figured I'd just record it. Plus, I've never covered any Aimer songs before, not counting band projects. I didn't spend too long on this one, but hope y'all enjoy it (:

I should hopefully have another project or so in the works this month, but just in case: Starting from the end of January I'll be visiting China and won't have an opportunity to do more covers. I'll definitely be back at it once I'm back home in March though!
