This ident was originally created in March 2003 by Jack Couvela and he told me that the main inspiration for it comes from the introduction to the 1989 film "Batman" (youtu.be/hQzbDvcnK4Y).
It was then used for much of Driv3r's development thorough 2003, including the Xbox Press Demo from early 2004 which still remains the only build found so far to have it in use. At some point towards the end of Driv3r's development it ended up being scrapped in favour of the Atari ident we all know.
Last year, I've managed to upscale it to 4K resolution with the correct aspect ratio and manually redid the ending fade sequence.
Thanks to Jack for telling the story of this awesome ident, which sadly didn't end up being used in the final game. And thank you to all of you, the viewers, who keep watching the videos. This is a rather short demonstration of a recreation of the E3 demo build, intending to show how the chase to Charlie's warehouse would've felt like with the cut cars brought back, including the well known red w/ black vinyl top Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign as featured in it. The Jaguar itself was incredibly difficult to recreate faithfully, a modification that took me almost 2 years to make. Expect more videos coming soon showcasing it more in-depth!Midtown Madness Japanese Version ミッドタウン マッドネス 日本語版 (DigiCube PC Series)RacingFreak2022-01-26 | Last year I had the chance to buy this insanely rare version of Midtown Madness. Compared to the rather common Japanese release by Microsoft, this is a more special version with unique cover art and released as part of DigiCube's PC Series in 2001. It took me many years to find one, even if I wasn't actively looking for it.
Full Japanese localisation is included, but certain voices have been left unchanged. Some menu graphics have been compressed to JPG instead of DDS.

This earlier version of the main menu theme is used in the Demo and Preview builds of the game. While very similar to the final version, there are some differences in the arrangement as a whole and more noticeably there's the full ending without cuting off, followed by a brief pause which I didn't cut out.

My intention is to recreate as closely as possible the model which was in Gran Turismo 2 before it got cut. As nothing from this model remains in the game, I had to create the model and textures from scratch, basing it on 4 screenshots of it and a render. As additional references I've also made use of nearly 150 photos of the real car.
The model shown in the video is still far from complete as there are numerous issues left to deal with and also lack of proper handling and sounds, but it is now fully textured and playable in-game. This particular version doesn't have any decals yet, but it does have the blue mirrors from the 1997 Suzuka 1000km winning car #10 (yet the decals in the render and in-game are actually based on car #11).
I've started this recreation back in March shortly after model modding finally became possible thanks to commongear's cdotool. Initially I've played around with converting the CLK GTR from NFSIII, pics of which some of you might've seen reposted on Twitter without my permission, but I felt that it will be way better to properly remake the model and this has indeed proved to be a great challenge.

I can only assume they did this intentionally if they couldn't find they original sources for them. Not a fan of the redone logo graphics either as they have lost fair bit of their authenticity as well (and there are some pretty dodgy frames in them), despite a pattern which can be observed with them trying to bring the logos to one consistent standard.

Perhaps it could have been done intentionally if they couldn't find they original sources for them? I still think the result would have been a lot better if they just kept the original videos as they are.

Apart from the obvious change of the resolution and aspect ratio from 640x480 4:3 to 1920x1080 16:9, it appears that although they have used the original master sources for the background renders/screenshots rather than AI upscaling them, the redone animations and text layers aren't an exact match of the original shape-wise and the colours are noticeably off in the logo sequence which is really disappointing. To their credit though, it can be appreciated that they have used some of the original sources.
The Vice City and San Andreas versions however have some pretty questionable things going and the comparisons can be seen here:
