It features Tyla's hit single 'Water' from her debut self titled album and Janet Jackson's classic single 'All For You' from her album of the same name. I had this idea last Summer and it was supposed to be a follow up to my Janet x Ciara mix but I continued my tradition of posting mixes traditionally late! It was interesting watching people compare Tyla's 'Water' to artists such as Aaliyah, Christina Millian and Rihanna. Meanwhile, it led me to think of Janet, she birthed the majority of the girlies and knows how to give a sensual bop in a classy way similar to 'Water'. I love how they sound together, Janet's background vocals are heavenly. I had the pleasure of using her vocal stems which was pretty onerous as they weren't mastered and I HATE mastering, but I tried my best to make it sound as official as possible. Mariah Carey, SZA - Dont Snooze On Us (Mashup) Raheem D 2023-12-28 | Mariah Carey and Sza collaborate in my mashup titled 'Don't Snooze On Us'. It features Mariah Carey's number one hit 'Don't Forget About Us' from her re-release of 'The Emancipation of Mimi' and Sza's hit single 'Snooze' from her hit album 'SOS'. I wanted to mix Snooze with a Mariah Carey track and I was stuck between three songs. I ended up asking for advice from @kierzcookie and he suggested I use the 'Don't Forget About Us' instrumental and go from there. This mix was surprisingly really hard to achieve due to the differences in today's music style and that of the 00's. Especially with songs being shorter! Overall, I'm happy with the outcome and I think SZA and Mariah Carey could create a really interesting collab, I'd love to see Mariah Carey write a verse in a SZA style! What do you think? I really loved the beat to 'Demons' but I felt Doja was playing too much with the first two verses and didn't give the beat the flow it deserved. I came up with the idea of adding Beyonce's 'Diva' on the beat because that song has the same bombastic energy to 'Demons' and it's one of my favourite Beyonce tracks. They both have dark production and together, their lyrics help paint a picture of Chloe x Halle being the women that are being cheated on, Sam is the narrator and Kim is the other woman. Initially, 'Unforgiven' was made for a METAPOP contest where you were given a sample and had to create a beat, and the winner would be chosen by Timbaland. I didn't win, but I decided I'd rework the beat (omitting most of the sample) and refine it after getting some great feedback after joining the competition. Make It Clap - (Doja Cat Middle Eastern/Hip Hop Type Beat) (By Raheem D) Raheem D 2022-07-18 | 'Make It Clap' is my first original production loosely inspired by late 90s early 00's Hip Hop beats produced by the likes of Timbaland and Darkchild. Initially, I started a tutorial on Skillshare for creating Lo-Fi music, but as I was following the tutorial I got bored with the Lo-Fi sound and decided to use the material given to create something different. I started with the piano sample and went from there. It turned into a pseudo Middle Eastern style Hip Hop beat that was also inspired by my 'Started To Make It Hot' mashup which used the 'Make It Hot' instrumental from Missy Elliott. As I was producing, the music video came into my head and I could imagine three female rappers such as Iggy Azalea, Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj with an Ancient Egyptian look with a dance break similar to how videos were back in the early 00's. I wouldn't say this is a full Middle Eastern sound as it uses Lo-Fi elements. It features Iggy Azalea's single 'Team', Cardi B's hit single 'Up', Nicki Minaj's 'Good Form', Chlöe's 'Treat Me', Little Mix's 'Bounce Back' and samples Lady Gaga's 'LoveGame'. This mix idea came to me after hearing 'Treat Me' and instantly thinking of the 'Bounce Back' chorus on top of the beat. I then thought it'd be cool to flesh out the idea with rap verses as I felt it'd better suit the beat. TINASHE, ARIANA GRANDE - X (Feat Megan Thee Stallion) (Mashup) Raheem D 2022-03-15 | Tinashe, Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion collaborate in my new mashup titled 'Everyday X'. It features Tinashe's single 'X' from her album '333', Ariana Grande's single 'Everyday' from her album 'Dangerous Woman' and Megan Thee Stallion's verse from Shenseea's song 'Lick'. I'm such a huge fan of Tinashe and after finding a way to filter material from her last two projects I've decided to post a bunch of Tinashe mixes. I decided to start with this track as it's her latest release that she's promoting (Tinashe deserves so much more promo! I need to see her on Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and at Wireless Festival this summer!). I believe she wanted Ariana Grande to be on 'X' but due to Ariana Grande taking a break from collaborations it wasn't able to happen. It features Avril Lavigne's hit single 'Complicated' from hr debut album 'Let Go' and 'Surface Pressure' from the soundtrack of the Disney film 'Encanto'. 'Surface Pressure' is my favourite song from the Encanto soundtrack and Luisa is also my favourite character. CHRIS BROWN x LIL NAS X - Kiss Kiss Baby (Ft. T-Pain, Jack Harlow) (Mashup) Raheem D 2022-02-24 | Chris Brown and Lil Nas X collaborate in my mashup titled 'Kiss Kiss Baby'. It features Chris Brown's hit single 'Kiss Kiss' featuring T-pain from his album 'Exclusive' and Lil Nas X's number 1 single 'Industry Baby' featuring Jack Harlow from his album 'MONTERO'. 'Kiss Kiss' is easily one of my most mixed songs, it came out around the same time I started creating mashups and I played it constantly. When I heard 'Industry Baby' I fell in love with the production due to how energetic it sounded. There were certain scenes in the video that reminded me of 'Kiss Kiss' (the school bus/prison bus scene) which is disconcerting considering one is set in an American prison and the other an American school but... It feature's Encanto's number 1 hit single 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' and Mars' number 1 hit single 'Grenade'. First of all, we need to discuss just how catchy the Encanto soundtrack has been, Lin Manuel Miranda was in his bag when he created this soundtrack! After humming 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' around the house for a few weeks (alongside 'Surface Pressure') I found myself thinking of mixing it with Bruno Mars and Grenade was the song that came to mind. I tried to make it seem as if Mars was in fact the Bruno they do not speak of when all he wants is love, he can't help having such a gift! I've had this mashup idea for a while and initially wanted to use Runway's 'All Night' instrumental since I loved it so much. Unfortunately, it never leaked so the mix sat on the shelf until I I was scrolling through my instrumentals folder and realised I never got round to using Dinah Jane's 'Heard It All Before' beat and thought it'd be a good replacement for my mix since it still has that early 00's R&B sound. Adele, Troye Sivan - EASY On Me (Ft Timbaland, Kacey Musgraves) (Mashup) Raheem D 2022-01-13 | Adele and Troye Sivan collaborate in my mashup 'Easy On Me'. It features Adele's hit single 'Easy On Me' from her hit album '30', Troye Sivan's 'EASY' featuring Kacey Musgraves from his EP 'IN A DREAM' and Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors' produced by Timbaland. The first time I heard 'Easy On Me' I instantly thought of mixing it with 'EASY' by Troye and loved how well they suited one another. The only issue I had was the fact neither song had an official instrumental available to use so I sat on the mix for a while until I thought of using Timberlake's 'Mirrors' instrumental produced by Timbaland to really tie each of the songs together. I really love how each song coincides with one another as well as how the video intertwine. Let me know what you guys think! It's almost exactly a year since Olivia Rodrigo debuted her single 'Drivers License' and yet it feels like she's been in the business for longer since she's been so successful. I wanted to transform the song into something more sinister and tried to make it seem as if Olivia Rodrigo is an obsessed ex that may have taken things too far when they split. Doja Cat x Chlöe x Mya - You Have Mercy On Me (Ft The Weeknd) (Mashup) Raheem D 2021-12-30 | Chlöe, Doja Cat and Mya collaborate in my mashup "You Have Mercy On Me". It features Chlöe's single 'Have Mercy', Doja Cat's 'You Right' featuring The Weeknd and Mya's debut single 'It's All About Me'. This mashup came to me in the shower, initially I had a mix of 'You Right' and 'Tip of my Tongue' on TikTok and Soundcloud which sampled 'Moments In Love'. And then, one day I realised 'You Right' and 'Have Mercy' fit really well in their hook melody so I went about incorporating a 90s sound with Mya's 'It's All About Me' which also samples 'Moments In Love'. I really like the transitions between these tracks as well as Chloe on the bridge. Let me know your thoughts! Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Robin Thicke, Trey Songz, Beyonce + MORE Raheem D 2021-12-09 | Here is an extended (mashup) version of JoJo's song 'Gold' from her album 'Good To Know'. It features various artists including Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Trey Songz, Robin Thicke, J Holiday, The Dream, Raheem D, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson. I absolutely love 'Gold', it's easily my favourite song from JoJo's amazing album 'Good To Know'. My only issue was that it was too short so I set upon creating my own version to help extend it. Inspired by JayBeatz 'Girls Need Love' R&B girl mashup, I wanted to create a mix that was at least 10 minutes long. This mashup is featured on my 'Unreleased and Underrated Collection' and I remember really wishing to post it when 'In My Blood' first came out but unfortunately it was blocked for copyright. Fortunately, it's OK to post now so we can rejoice!.
