[MKW WR] Daisy Circuit: 1:28.909 (HD Version)
updated
I tried to get a flap record using the 3lap shroomstrat, where you drift out of the offroad after the lake cut. I believe that + the no-sc flap 1st shroom is faster than the current strategy by 0.4 seconds or more. Unfortunately it's too hard, so I settled with a practice run where I went inside of the tree. Good luck to anyone who tries the faster strat.

I was practicing no-shortcut driving for flap and fluked out this ridiculous 3/3 shortcut stick + 1/3 wheelie cut run. I can sub-1:35 here.

First personal record at this category in 9 years, happy to achieve a sub-35".

The lapcount is more difficult than it looks. Fun category overall.
8th worldwide when it was set, 9th now.

Tough lapcount. Still a top 5 funniest flap category.

Beat Arvo's world record by a millisecond. Good driving made this run. This run would be a mid 29.1xx with a stick on the first hill of the double cut, and would be a very low 29.0xx or even a sub-29 with a wheelie cut. My ultimate goal is a good run with wheelie cut and TAS ending.
I leaned down instead of up while driving into the fall boundary at the end. I found that leaning down gives you more air, and therefore makes it easier to the lap count. Testing this run on Dolphin, I found I was 1 frame away from hitting the fall boundary, but had I leaned up instead, I would have been 0 frames away (AKA I hit the death barrier one the same frame I hit the lap count). Leaning down does not save or lose any time compared to leaning up.

According to the MKWPP rules as of the upload date, a flap using the TAS ending strat (where you drive off the wall to finish the run to the right of the S/F line) would count as a glitch run. I believe that the current MKWPP rule is wrong, and that this should count as the current no-glitch flap world record. You can find a discussion + poll of the situation on the MKWPP forums: mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1723747851
The TAS ending strat is a substantial timesave from a regular final shroom. For a non-wheelie cut run, it can save around 0.23 seconds or so, making it nearly on par with getting a wheelie cut. It's a fairly difficult strat, but I think it's always worth the timesave.
The strat is a bit situation-dependent: it's much easier if you don't stick to the first hill on the double cut, as landing the double cut further to the right makes a much better alignment. Hence, I have yet to make it work with a wheelie cut so far.
As for the run itself: lots of driving errors before the double cut, ideal non-wheelie double cut, and extremely tight TAS ending strat. I believe I was 1 frame away from hitting the death barrier. Regardless of how this run is categorized on the leaderboards, I'm pretty elated I got the TAS ending strat in a run.

Before getting flap and 3lap world records on Daisy Circuit, I tried for many weeks in 2014-15 to get flap WR here on rDH. But no matter how hard I tried, I never got the fabled wheelie cut. A full decade later, I came back and got it.
This flap is 100% carried by the wheelie cut. The best kind you can get for rDH flap is one I got in this run, where you re-wheelie when you hit the second hill on the double cut. A re-wheelie cut sends you further to the right, giving you a flatter platform to land on and a better alignment for the final shroom.
One weird thing I did this run was hold left at the final shroom, thereby cutting less of the corner. In practice, I found that is far more important to exit the cut at full speed than to cut more of the corner. I TAS'ed a few endings of other worldwide top flaps and found some players who literally lost 0.1 seconds from a bad final shroom alone. So for consistency, I actively hold left to ensure I don't eat offroad at corner exit.
This run is otherwise pretty weak, as I bled time with wide lines everywhere. I believe I can get a better time, so there's a small chance I improve this soon.
Previous WR is 29.317 by Liam, set on 1/30/2016 and against all odds didn't get beat for 8.5 years.

This world record is more a record of opportunity than a record of optimization. A while back, I noticed that all the flaps I've seen of this category had either bad lap counts or bad shrooms. So provided that I learned the shroomless glitch and learned the no-glitch 3-shroom strat, world record was in play.
Thank you to Arvo for the glitch flap tutorial, which helped me get consistent shroomless glitches. It's actually pretty easy; I can get it about 10-20% of the time, and usually within the first 2 minutes of a time trial.
Pretty much all of the time saved from the previous WR (8.833 by Caleb) came from the lap count. The lap count is very easy with a marker ghost. I put the marker ghost to the inside of the white median, to shorten the distance between the lap count and the first shroom. Here, I released the standstill MT 1 frame too late, losing 0.016 seconds from a perfect release. In comparison, Caleb's 8.833 released the MT 5 frames late. So overall, I saved about 0.066 seconds from the previous WR just from the lap count.
The 3-shroomer was good enough. While the slip on the 1-shroom was fantastic, I think entered the corner tighter than ideal, so my exit was wide (ideally, I would drive through the bush on corner exit). The bounce on corner exit also sent me wide and lost me a chunk of time, though the bounce may have helped me clear the offroad. Then, I used my 3rd shroom a little late, to ensure I would cut to the inside of the tree. Bit of a wide exit and early MT release to the 2-shroomer because I played it safe.
I'd say a 8.6xx is humanly possible. This run is very beatable so long as someone has the time and patience to grind this category.

Always fun to try out new glitch strategies. I took my sweet time to get the pole clips because I didn't care what the final time was, so long as it was faster than my 1/3 PR (1:41.077). Also couldn't help but spend a whole 0.214 seconds at the end to showboat; I always wanted to do that at the end of a personal record, heh.
Thank you to Justin for making the marker ghost.

Tried to go for the God time per the Player's Page standard for rYF Flap (18.349 or faster) and become the player who set the final unclaimed God time. While I didn't come close to achieving my goal, I did get this lap, which was fast enough for 9th Worldwide at the time I set it.

I highly doubt I will ever compete for WR here, or beat my current PR of 1:28.763. Even though I've improved my driving in the 3 years since I set my current record, beating a 2-dive run will take tremendous effort. IDK when I'll try this track again.

I played Emerald in summer 2017, and I felt this section of the game made for a good MKW track layout. So after I got my Daisy Circuit world record, I spent over 100 hours creating this CT. I wanted this track to be good enough to get added into CTGP, but obviously that never happened. I find this track fun to time trial and play with friends, but the graphics are pretty mundane, and it suffers from lag issues. I am no graphic or 3D designer.
I only spent 1 day to make this run. Lap 2 is my best split thanks to the chain, and laps 1 and 3 are pretty bad. The shortcut is harder than it looks: for some reason I put a Bean corner there, so I was very careful when cutting that corner. 2:23 is certainly possible, and Funky Kong/Flame Runner might be faster.
Thank you to everyone who's played this track!

Very fun category to drive when you're getting the glitch consistently. I have splits for 2:10 but wasn't able to piece three good laps together. Check out that massive fail in the middle of lap 2, lmao.
And that's my entire timesheet uploaded! I like to thank luckytyphlosion for Auto TT Record, which allows me to record my record quickly and in high-quality. I'd also like to thank WhatIsLoaf for the input viewer. Lastly, I'd like to thank everyone in the MKW community that has gotten me this far. Ten years ago when I started the TT grind, I never thought I would have good times on every track in the game.
I'm sure I'll still be time trialing into the future. I can already think of a few times I'd like to set: glitches I've never done, and tracks where I know I have potential. We'll see what happens

Back in 2014 and 2015, I posted my long-term MKW TT goals on the Player's Page forum. I later rediscovered those posts, and I've spent the past year completing all of them. The last goal on that list was to get top 100 rankings in all 64 categories (32 tracks, 3lap and flap). With this rank #87 time on DDR 3lap, I have not only achieved that goal, but also every goal I set in 2014/15.
I am now ranked #14 on the PP, which is the highest rank I've ever achieved. I admittedly don't have many high-ranked times, but I'd like to say I'm finally a well-rounded TT'er (for glitch, anyway). I plan on uploading the remainder of my timesheet here.
The run itself is pretty awful; every lap has major fails lmao. Best lap 1 is 36.568, but I don't have good splits for lap 2 and 3. 1:48 should not be very difficult with these strats.

This has historically been one of my worst tracks, but thanks to 3/3 downtrick wallglitches and 3/3 turnskips (albeit 2/3 uptricks), this is the first somewhat respectable run I've made here.
One of my most sought-after goals is to get top 100 runs on every category on MKWPP (the Player's Page). rWS 3lap was one of four categories where I never made a top 100 time on the Player's Page (alongside the 3laps of rMR, RR, and DDR). But thanks to this run, I am now ranked #66 on this category. I got top 100 times on rMR in Oct 2022 and RR a few days ago thanks to the glitch, so as of today, only Dry Dry Ruins remains. This is the closest I've ever been to this goal by far.

This run is a big personal achievement, because it is my first ever non-Daisy Circuit Worldwide Top 10. I always wanted to be a bit more than a one-hit wonder, but the second WW top eluded me for the longest time. My driving isn't top tier, and for various reasons I constantly missed opportunities from new glitches (like rDH, TF, and rSGB). Relieved that it finally worked out here!
The glitch lap was fast due to a quick setup, and I got enough air that I could have performed the glitch with 1 shroom (I tested on Dolphin). I lost a good 3 seconds over the rest of the run due to nerves, but at least I finished it. This is the hardest glitch I've ever performed, so I will cherish this WW top time for as long as it lasts. I'd give it a week at most; this leaderboard is changing very quick (the one in this video is already outdated).

Hold The Wii Wheel Straight Challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
I don't do the WW input display, so I subbed it with Nunchuck. First 3lap I've gotten with Cookie strat. That lap 1 split was really solid actually, just unfortunate I got stuck behind the S/F pole.

I wanted to just do a lap 3 glitch to get it over with. Then one night I decided to do lap 1 attempts, and got this second try. Since I never practiced Zip Zip shroomless, I paused the game for 10 minutes to watch YT videos on how to do it. At least I improv'd it well enough to beat the first 3lap world record here!
Definitely one of the funniest RTA glitches in the game (up there with TF box clip) and I'd like to get worldwide tops in the future, maybe.

Free worldwide top 10. I slowed my driving by 0.07 at the start to make the box cycle exactly on time. Rest of the lap is pretty simple not to fail. My driving was pretty slow: wide conveyor belt turn, rehop after the lake cut (else I would have missed the boost panel), and crashed the low jump landing. But at least I completed it.
The best time to start this lap with this shroomstrat is at a low 54.1xx, as shown here. If you use the first 2 shrooms on the first 2 turns instead, you should start the lap at a mid 54.6xx. These are essentially the same flap start times as no-glitch. So I don't understand why most of the example flaps I see start at like 1:13 or something, like why would you willingly wait an extra 19 seconds per attempt?

I am really pushing it with these music copyrights. This didn't get flagged at all, shocking. This stuff was much more difficult to get away with 8 years ago.

The whole lap was driven well. Lucky to pull together a run that gets good shrooms, a good double trick, and good driving all in one. Despite how random this category is, it's actually one of my favorite flaps to play.
First flap worldwide top I've re-entered since December 2020 (when I got 10th WW on DKS flap for one day), and my highest ranked non-Daisy Circuit flap since GV glitch WR in 2017. I even beat Fox's old world record from 2014.
