At this market you can buy fresh and live seafood from the vendors and they cook it fresh for you. The meal we had in the video cost 700 baht for the seafood from the market. The night market area is clean and comfortable with loads of seating, and the staff were very friendly. The Songkran Festival is the world’s biggest water fight. Seeing Songkran in Thailand gives a great insight into Thai culture and traditions, and it's a lot of fun! Best party ever!Traditionally Songkran was a time that Thai people visited their temples and poured water on Buddha statues to cleanse them. This water was then collected and poured over people as a blessing. It represents purification and the washing away of one's sins and bad luck.In modern times Songkran has evolved into a huge water fight, but Thais still carry the original intent with them. Songkran happens from the 13th to the 15th of April, however, in some parts of the country the water fights last for up to 9 days. During Songkran, the streets of Thailand become the scene for the world’s biggest water fight, with every man, woman, and child involved. You will find Songkran celebrations in all parts of Thailand, Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Krabi, and everywhere in between. As well as water fights, people smear colorful paste over others’ faces. This is colored talcum powder, and considered a good thing or a blessing, it’s origins are from the use of chalk by monks marking blessings.Everyone is in great spirits and out to enjoy themselves and have fun. Songkran is definitely one of the best things to do in Thailand … everyone should do it at least once! I came for Songkran for the first time in 2011 and I have only missed two since. In this video we share a quick update on the current situation in Thailand now and Ao Nang in Krabi Thailand, over a family dinner of Thai hot pot (jim jum) at home. Fingers crossed we'll have a Songkran like that again soon!Happy Songkran Everyone 😊🙏The recipe for the Thai hot pot (Jim jum) in the video is-For the Meat-250 grams of meat sliced into roughly 2mm thick pieces (You can use any meat or seafood of your choice. If you are using seafood you do not need to marinade it, but you can if you wish).3 tbspn oyster sauce½ tbspn soy sauce1½ tspn sugar1 tspn sesame seeds1 egg1) Mix the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar and sesame seeds and marinade the meat for 20 minutes (or longer if you wish).2) Break the egg over the meat and mix through just prior to cooking.For the Broth-1 L water10 slices daikon (roughly 4mm thick)2 lemongrass stems, cut into thirds4 leaves kaffir lime, torn into quarters5 slices galangal (roughly 2mm thick)2 shallots, crushed5 chilies (or as many as is to your taste), crushed20 leaves Thai sweet basil3 tbspn oyster sauce2 tbspn fish sauce1 tspn salt1) In a pot add the daikon to the water and bring to the boil, then reduce and simmer till the daikon turns clear.2) Add the oyster sauce, fish sauce, salt, lemongrass, kaffir lime, galangal, shallots, chilies, and Thai sweet basil.3) Bring to boil again and simmer for 5 minutes. The broth is now ready to add to the hot pot.Other Ingredients – Glass noodlesAdditional Thai sweet basilVegetables: You can use any mild flavoured vegetables of your choice, in the video we used Chinese cabbage, bok choy, Chinese morning glory and moon flowers. It’s been trading for over 30 years (they’re now in their third location), it is a favourite with the people who live in the area, and famous for its delicious Thai food. The main rules are with hand sanitising, temperature checks, the use of face masks and many restaurants have some kind of a barrier on the table. In this video my wife, son and I headed to Chillva Market in Phuket Town - a night market known for its vibrant street food culture and shopping. Thai Food Recipes - Home Cooking in Thailand. In this video @aorneats shows you how to cook 2 very easy and delicious Thai pumpkin dishes. The recipes are: Young Pumpkin Stir Fry with Prawns - Pad Yod Fuk Tong Goong- 10-15 Pumpkin vine tips, cut into 30mm long pieces- 2 tbspn Oil - 2 tbspn Oyster sauce- 1 tbspn Soy sauce- 1 tspn Raw sugar- 3 tbspn Garlic, crushed and finely chopped- 100 gm Shrimp, peeled and cleaned- 100 ml waterMETHOD1) Heat oil over medium heat and then add the garlic and stir fry till fragrant. 2) Add prawns and stir fry for about 30 seconds, then add pumpkin vine tips and water and stir fry for 1 minute.3) Turn flame to high and stir fry for 1 more minute.4) Add soy sauce, oyster sauce and sugar and stir fry till done (around one and a half minutes).Coconut Milk Curry with Pumpkin - Gaeng Gati Fuk Tong Moo- 200gm pumpkin- 100 gm pork- 20 Thai sweet basil leaves- 2 kaffir lime leaves, torn into quarters- 500 ml coconut milk- 1 tbspn red curry paste- 1 tbspn palm sugar- 1 tbspn shrimp paste- 2 tspn light soy sauce- 1 tspn stock powder (Any stock powder is fine. We used pork.)METHOD1) Bring coconut milk to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.2) Add curry paste and mix in.3) Add kaffir lime leaves, then add pumpkin and cook, stirring occasionally, till pumpkin is soft.4) Add pork and bring to boil while stirring.5) Add stock powder, palm sugar, shrimp paste and light soy sauce and mix in.6) Turn off gas and add Thai basil. Delicious Thai Street Food in Patong Beach.This was a local street market my family and I had dinner at recently in Patong in Phuket Thailand. Pour the coconut milk into a wok or saucepan and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the coconut oil begins to separate out and it becomes fragrant. 2. Add the curry paste, stir in until dissolved and simmer for 2 more minutes.3. Add 100 ml of water, stir in and simmer for 1 more minute.4. Add the Thai eggplant and stir for 1 minute.5. Add the Thai pea eggplant and stir for 1 more minute.6. Add palm sugar and stir till dissolved.7. Add the pineapple and mix in.8. Add the salt, white sugar and stock powder and mix in.9. Add the cherry tomatoes and mix in.10. Add the kaffir lime, 100 ml of water, mix in and simmer for 3 minutes.11. Add the duck breast and mix in.12. Add the basil leaves and mix in.13. Serve into a bowl and top with 1 tspn of coconut milk, chili pepper and tip of Thai basil branch.14. Serve with steamed rice and enjoy. Mu kata is one of my favourite Thai foods.... IT"S DELICIOUS! In this video my wife and I do a mukbang Questions and Answers video, to answer the most common questions we get asked on the Darrenb3 channel.This restaurant Kan Eang Moo Kata (ร้านกันเองหมูกระทะ in Thai) is one of our favourite Thai restaurants and is in Krabi Town, in Krabi Thailand, it's at Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/h8z7FCi5djnsEnJs9It is 199 baht per person for their all you can eat Thai barbeque buffet.Moo kata (aka Mukata) is very popular among Thai people, but many people who travel in Thailand never discover it because the signs are usually only in Thai and not in English. In Thai, “moo kata” means “pork pan” and it is like a cross between Korean barbecue, hot pot and sukiyaki, all at the same time.On the bottom is a bowl of burning charcoals and on top of that is a sombrero looking barbeque plate, with a dome and a moat around it. A soup is place into the moat and you get a jug with more soup so you can keep adding more.A piece of pork lard is placed at the center of the dome, which works as cooking oil. As the lard melts its oil drips from the top of the dome down to the soup area. This oils the dome to so that meat will not stick to the dome and burn and it also drips into the soup making it even tastier.There is a large buffet area of meats, salads, vegetables and deserts and you can eat as much as you want. There are choices of chicken, pork (there are also Halal restaurants that don't do pork, but have beef instead), seafood including squid, fish, mussels, prawns, sausages, fish balls, tofu, cabbage, morning glory, mushrooms, some other leafy vegetables and seaweed. You fill up your plate and return to your table where you can fry your food on the top of the dome, or cook it in the soup, sukiyaki style.When your food is cooked you can eat it as a soup, or off a plate, with the dipping sauces that are provided. Make sure you only take what you can eat because there is usually a fine for not finishing everything on your plate. Moo kata is very sociable, big groups of relatives or friends, sit for hours talking and laughing and slowly cooking and eating. It really is a great night out.
