Hiking Adams Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park Chadwick Family Films 2020-10-09 | This week we ventured out to Rocky Mountain National Park from the east side through the town of Grand Lake to hike Adam's Falls. This is a really nice and mellow stroll up to a pretty cool waterfall that feeds Grand Lake, which of course feeds the Colorado River headwaters. Seeing a tree collapse and Harrison take a refreshingly ice-cold unexpected bath in the river are moments I don't think we will forget. JetBoil Starbucks VIA Coffee in the Winnebago Micro Minnie Chadwick Family Films 2020-07-30 | This week we camped at Mountain Park campground in the Poudre Canyon which is part of the Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests located near Fort Collins, Colorado. The cost was only $32/night and views are rindonkulous (you are right next to the Poudre River). This is one of my favorite rivers in Colorado to kayak.Learn about making coffee with a Jetboil flash boiling cooking stove system and why I think it's better than a Keurig. The Jet boil is faster, smaller, and more portable since it runs off of propane. I also take a hike up the nearby Mount McConnel trail which is a moderate 5.2 mile loop and gains about 1,400 feet in elevation.The campsite is electric-only (site 19), so we filled up the water before leaving. Camping at Red Feather Lakes Colorado in the Winnebago Micro Minnie Chadwick Family Films 2020-07-23 | We camped at Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. A friend invited us up to his property and it was incredible! This was our first time boondocking with the RV and it worked out way better and easier than we thought it might. Boondocking basically means we went without hooking up to any water or electricity to support the Winnebago camper. After adding a 2nd deep cycle battery to the camper this week we had no trouble without any external power sources. We fished, we 4-wheeled, we shot arrows and bb guns, had a great time around a campfire and had a wonderful time making new friends.Ashley's cooking tip of the week was how to make "walking tacos". Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH Upgrades, Mods and RV Tour Chadwick Family Films 2020-07-16 | This week Ashley shows off all the upgrades during a tour of our new camping rig - the 2020 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2100BH. We have named her Sandy :). This is the third stop on our summer to remember camping road trip that took us to South Dakota, down through Nebraska to Lake McConaughy. We stayed at the Lone Eagle Campground which is a full hookup spot that we could reserve a few months in advance. Next visit I think we might boondock on the beach and just spend a night with hookups. Badlands National Park | White River KOA Camping in our Winnebago Chadwick Family Films 2020-07-09 | Our 2nd visit on our #summertoremember trip took us in our Winnebago Micro Mini 2100BH to Badlands National Park and the KOA at Badlands - White River just south of the park near the town of Interior, South Dakota. We drove the scenic Badlands loop scenic highway finding several different types of wildlife and hiked the popular but awesome notch trail and window trails. The notch trail was really something special. It was the first time I've done a hike that included a ladder!Going in late June was about as hot as I'd want to visit, but it was really pretty perfect. High temperatures were around 80 degrees and being able to come back to an air-conditioned RV in our Winnebago made everything as comfy as being at home. The only couple downsides to the KOA here was that the internet was not great in the evening (no video streaming) and the pool was shut down, but that may have been because of coronavirus. Either way, it was a great spot for us and they had an old spinning playground toy that we had a ton of fun on.On the way there from Mount Rushmore, we stopped at the Reptile Gardens near Rapid City, South Dakota. I'll tell you - the front of this building does not do it justice. It has got to be the largest collection of snakes, crocs, gators, turtles, and reptiles in the US. You can even get up close and touch the 100-year-old giant tortoises. Camping at the KOA Mount Rushmore at Palmer Gulch in the Winnebago Chadwick Family Films 2020-07-02 | For our #summertoremember we towed Sandy - our Winnebago Micro Mini out on a 10 day trip to South Dakota from Colorado. This is part one of three stops on our camping trip where we stopped at the KOA campground in the Black Hills forest called Rushmore - Palmer Gulch. I had never been to the black hills or custer state park before this trip and was blown away at the beauty and just how green all of the forest was. Stops during this trip included Rushmore Tramway adventures to go ride ziplines for the first time ever in my life. We also drove the needles highway and fit in those tiny tunnels with the truck mirrors pulled in. This took us out for a hike by Sylvan Lake which is serenity at its best. Sylvan lake has some incredible granite formations around it and is easy enough for my retired parents to hike. Camping at Colorados Cherry Creek State Park with our Winnebago Chadwick Family Films 2020-06-25 | For our 4th time out camping with the new Micro Mini 2100BH we went to a local but goodie spot - Cherry Creek State Park. They have several full hookup RV sites with a lot of space in between which was a refreshing change from the KOA the previous week. I think we will definitely make this an annual spot to visit. Camping at Estes Park | Marys Lake Campground with our Winnebago Micro Mini Chadwick Family Films 2020-06-18 | For memorial day weekend, we ventured out to Estes Park, Colorado in our brand new Winnebago Micro Mini 2100BH. This was our 5th trip with the new rig and we are starting to get the hang of things. One of my favorite memories from this specific trip was finding a deer in a neighbor campsite and also watching The Call of the Wild with all 4 of us on the bed together during the rain and snowstorm. Not in the video but on this trip we had our first mishap with the furnace going out in the middle of the night. Camping at River Run RV Resort in Granby Colorado in the Winnebago Chadwick Family Films 2020-06-11 | Last weekend, we traveled in the Winnebago Micro Mini 2100BH to the brand new River Run RV resort in Granby Colorado. We lucked out with our timing once again - the pool opened the day we arrived with social distancing measures in place. In fact, pretty much all of the amenities were open like bowling, the inflatable jumping pad, playground, golfing, bocce ball and of course - corn hole. Camping at the Fort Collins KOA - Lakeside in our Winnebago Micro Mini Chadwick Family Films 2020-06-04 | For mother's day weekend, we took my mother-in-law Brenda camping in our brand new Winnebago Micro Mini 2100BH to the KOA in Fort Collins. This was our third time towing the new travel trailer out and it was extra special because we got to camp next to my brother and sister in laws family too. This KOA is pretty awesome despite being parked so closely together. Grammy (Brenda) winning at volleyball was an unexpected highlight of this trip, but nothing gave us more laughs then Ashley pretending to know how to open a manual awning. Ash and I worked a lot. Unfortunately, I ended up having my nasty cold sickness continue through this week while breaking my back so we don't have quite the footage or film we normally do. It was still a great week for the boys though.Harrison had his preschool Christmas show. His singing and instrumentation of Jingle Bells was on point. Braxton wrapped up his last week of school before Christmas break and had a super solid first half of 3rd grade. The HIP HOP Recital and Tree Decorating! Chadwick Family Films 2016-12-09 | Braxton danced to Home For the Holidays at his big recital in front of hundreds of parents. Lots of fun hip hop practice sessions went into this super fun evening. The choreography from his teacher was fun, you can kinda see the kids looking off stage for her lead.We also got our first big snow in Colorado for the winter. About 5 inches fell a couple days ago with temps dropping to the 0's, burrrrr.We also got some decorations up for Christmas. For the first time ever we decided to put our christmas tree up downstairs since we have carpet down there so its more fun to sit on for opening and playing with gifts christmas morning.I loved getting to see the boys reaction to many of our ornaments. A Texan Thanksgiving Chadwick Family Films 2016-12-02 | We had an incredible week in Texas for Thanksgiving this week. Getting to see my Baby - Harrison, feed our new nephew Baby - Caleb was such a precious moment. Hey maybe that's how that Normal Walkwell guy made precious moments? Dad made tons of food all week, with the big highlight being Thanksgiving Dinner. Turkey, Green Bean Casserole, Corn Casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and so much more goodness.Aunt Lauren and Mom organized lots of fun "turkey trot" games. So much laughter and good times. Even 89 year old Grandma got into the action. Driving back to Texas was a lot like flying the Millenium Falcon through an asteroid field. ICE in DALLAS TX at the Gaylord Chadwick Family Films 2016-11-24 | It's Thanksgiving week and we drove to Dallas, Texas and visiting ICE at the Gaylord Texan. It was a lone star start to our Christmas season. We drove down from Colorado through New Mexico and the panhandle of Texas to get to Plano, Texas for the first time in probably a decade. Of course, we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast along the way. All of us got to meet Caleb, our new cousin and nephew who is 3 months old, for the first time. He's a pretty cool baby and super mellow. On one of the days Braxton, Dad and I headed over to downtown Dallas at the Ross Perot Museum of Science and Nature for a fun learning outing. Finally, we had a dinner at Great Grandma Fleeman's and setup her Christmas tree. All I want for Christmas is my 2 FRONT TEETH!! Chadwick Family Films 2016-11-18 | Braxton lost his front tooth this past week. Hillary lost the presidential election to Donald Trump and my boys followed the states reporting by filling out an electoral college map. The toys r us catalogue came in the mail so Christmas presents were circled to start some wish lists. After going to Flatirons community church on Saturday night we headed over to Grammy's for a fun thanksgiving dinner and play night. Checkers, Michigan Football, and a tower contest kept everyone laughing until very late. Ashley went out of town for a business trip to Portland and Braxton performed a work in progress dance number at his hip hop dance class. The REAL Spider Man! Chadwick Family Films 2016-11-03 | There are Spider-Man costumes and then there is the real Spider-Man. Well, lucky for Harrison he had the chance to meet and get a picture with the βRealβ spiderman at my work Halloween Party this past Friday. Braxton had so much fun wearing his Chewbacca costume and mask from Kohlβs. Yep that famous Chewbacca mask from the hilarious womanβs viral video earlier this year. It fits him perfectly so why not wear it as part of his costume.Ashley and I juggled a filled weekend with activities including the last kid soccer game for Harrison. Harrisonβs first swimming lesson ever. Braxtonβs swimming lesson. A birthday party for Braxtonβs best friend at the bowling alley. And of course the highlight of this week was trick or treating on Halloween night around the neighborhood.Harrison wore a Buzz Lightyear costume because he decided it was fun to change out of spiderman. Pet Names STOLEN from Animated Movies Chadwick Family Films 2016-10-27 | Naming our pets, our animals was a lot of fun. For me it was mostly because I didn't have to worry about naming a kid the wrong name and then they live with it for 80 years. This is a short family film this week, but features 3 of the oldest members of our family - our pets.Yep, prior to the boys joining our family, we got Jack Jack - the white maltese puppy. Then shortly after that Ashely and I married and thought Jack was lonely so we got Casper, the white friendly ghost. Then about another year or so later we decided Casper needed a sister so Nala (grey kitty) came to live with us from the humane society. Nala has a crazy little tooth that sticks straight out. We made a quick trip to Costco to buy some spinach, but just filmed the important stuff like Nerf Mastadon's!! A super heavy and huge automatic nerf bazooka of a nerf blaster. Braxton wants one for Christmas... just sayin'.Finally, Harrison continued to entertain us on the soccer field this week with learning to undress while on the field - during the game. It was awesome. Halloween BOO BASKETS!! #BOOitForward Chadwick Family Films 2016-10-20 | You have been booβed is the sign we saw on our door this week, a few weeks before Halloween. Some people say βyouβve been ghostedβ. Basically, some friendly neighbors dropped off candy in a Halloween boo basket with a charge to pay it forward to two more homes in the neighborhood. Soβ¦ we did! Braxton learned the art of a doorbell ditch, although this time, it was leaving some serious loot with candy and other goodies. BOOItForwardBraxton and I also had tickets to see the new movie - Middle School The Worst Years of My Life, which is based on the popular kidβs books by James Patterson. We give it a complete review. Spoiler alert, we liked it. A lot. It was a fun kid movie. Then the boys got their annual checkups at the doctor. Vaccines and flu shots were given and nobody cried. Seriously the boys took their shots without any crying. Why canβt this happen every day at home when the smallest thing makes them upset? Harrison had some fun races with some of his Lightning McQueen race cars to see who was the fastest. Of course, Lightning McQueen from the first Cards movie won that challenge. Casting Crowns at RED ROCKS! Chadwick Family Films 2016-10-13 | This week we had tickets to see Casting Crowns in concert at Red Rocks not far from home, here in Colorado. It was a cold night, but such a wonderful way to experience the church in one of the coolest concert venues in the country. We got to hear music from the new CD - The Very Next Thing so that was pretty dope. Mark Hall's voice was a little froggy so the crowd took the chorus a lot.Harrison had another soccer game. They had a bit more participation than previous weeks, while Braxton took a long bike ride up a great big "mountain". :) We also picked up our season passes for skiing. So the boys picked up new ski gear and they are now all set for the ski season. Copper Mountain here we come! Kenosha Pass Hiking on the COLORADO TRAIL Chadwick Family Films 2016-10-06 | We caught the final week of with color on the Colorado Trail this week up at Kenosha Pass. Grammy had the great idea to go for a mountain drive before winter hits so we figured, why not? We drove up highway 285 past Conifer and Bailey to the pass up over 9,000 feet elevation. Weather was perfect. Boys were behaved. We had a really fun family adventure. Iβd highly recommend if you visit Colorado or if you live here and have never been up there in September or October to go. I didnβt realize what I was missing out on until now. Denver Broncos Win! Chadwick Family Films 2016-09-22 | This week we took Braxton to see his first Denver Broncos game live, at Mile High. Guess what? The Broncos won and beat the Indianapolis Colts for the first time in a while. It was really an exciting and fun game to see in person. My Dad also joined us, while my Mom graciously stayed home with Harrison so they could take Sunday afternoon naps. We got to check out the newly opened Mile High Monument during the pre-game.Von Miller made some great stops and forced a fumble near the end of the game that put the Denver Broncos way ahead in the last few minutes of the game. It was too much for Andrew Luck and his Colts to come back from. Demaryius Thomas also racked up a lot of yards which helped my fantasy team out to win this weekend too! Mom and Dad flew in from Texas to celebrate the boys birthdays and spoiled them like only grandparents can do. Harrison got his Thomas and Percy trains heβs been dying to get, while Braxton opened his automatic Nerf blaster that shoots 5 darts per second! Thatβs right, his nerf gun will shoot 5 darts out every second until the drum magazine is emptied. More to come with that next week with some live footage.Harrison started his soccer season with Ashley, aka Mommy as the teamβs coach. Soccer Shoe SHOPPING Chadwick Family Films 2016-09-15 | Harrisonβs soccer season starts next weekend so we went soccer shoe shopping to get him all setup. He found some pretty sick looking adidas cleats that he can run fast in. Harrison continues to enjoy his joint birthday present with his big brother - the trampoline - in the backyard. Slow motion trampoline jumps are always fun!Ashley struggles for sanity with the boys always begging for her help or to βtell her somethingβ. So she finds peace going on a two hour grocery store run to regain some peace. And it worked! The boys were angels while she was away.Braxton makes progress writing his first chapter book on weather disasters.And the big news of the week - Harrison turned 3 YEARS OLD!!! Tuesday was his birthday. I was pretty ill so Braxton helped film that day, but he loved opening his presents. The big highlight was his new Batman Big Wheels bike.
