That way, you can hop from one computer to the next and still be able to boot up Kali from the BIOS or the startup manager. When somebody's computer is compromised, the hacker gains almost full control over that computer, allowing them to set up payloads such as reverse persistent shells or keystroke duplicators. However, when the hacker is setting up their payloads, they can leave behind traces that they were there. This evidence takes form in the Bash command history or the files they leave behind that were needed to set up the payload.
If the hacker was smart, they would delete the command history and any files that are not necessarily to make the payload work. Doing so will decrease the chance that the
hacker will get caught and will increase the chance that the payload is effective.
In this episode of Cyber Weapons Lab, we'll be going over drd_'s article on Null Byte to see how a hacker would go about wiping their tracks. Knowing this will help you drill down to information the hacker may have missed during advanced digital forensics.

Many services and tools we cover on Null Byte only run on the local network by default. In this episode of Cyber Weapons Lab, we're showing how to configure a router so that you can access those services and tools from the broader internet.
Ports are channels that computers use to communicate with each other. A certain port may be using a certain protocol, like SSH, which is usually assigned to port 22. If you've ever had a Raspberry Pi, and wanted to connect to it from your laptop, then you might have set it up on the local network and SSHed in. You'd pull up a terminal on your laptop, and use something like the local IP and your port, and the login credentials, to gain access to your SSH shell on the Pi.
Now, if you're not on your local network, but you still want to access your Raspberry Pi that's still on your local network, that's where port forwarding comes into play.
Your ISP provides one public IP to the router at your home, and that router is blocking all those ports from coming in and out of your house. Port forwarding is a rule that lets the router know that an incoming port to your public IP needs to be sent to a specific IP on your local network with this particular port. Ports don't have to match, like 9022 coming to public IP, then out to the Pi at port 22. Once set up, you could remotely connect to the Pi from a non-local network.

Hackers, pentesters, cybersecurity specialists, and other tech-savvy individuals can hack Wi-Fi passwords fairly easily, and tools like Besside-ng help them do it.
Besside-ng is the hidden gem of the Aircrack-ng suite of Wi-Fi hacking tools. To use it, one just needs to run it with a wireless network adapter capable of packet injection. By doing so, Besside-ng can harvest WPA handshakes from any network with an active user. It can also help crack WEP passwords. Cybersecurity specialists, hackers, pentesters, and other IT professionals can write their own scripts in many different languages, from C to Python, but the most popular by far is Bash since it's understood natively by all Unix systems, including Linux and macOS.
So when it comes to reconnaissance, or more specifically, automating recon so you're doing the same old thing time after time, Bash scripts are the way to go since it will have a higher degree of success.
On this episode of Cyber Weapons Lab, we're going to show you how to write a Bash script from the group up, starting with a very basic "Hello World" script, then begin incorporating tasks such as automating Nmap scans and enumerating a local network.
