We're checking out tik tok today because I had someone reach out and mention that looking into tik tok's mental health content might make for a good topic! They weren't kidding there's definitely a lot of interesting stuff going on there that I feel like connects to a larger issue the internet seems to have when it comes to talking about mental illnesses that I thought we could look into. Honestly feels like the same "repeating of internet history" we saw with the "i'm not like other girls" trend on there but now it's the oversimplifying and romanticization of mental illness... great. I'm sure if you've been online you've seen some "signs you had ADHD/depression/anxiety" videos or maybe saw the recent "getting the chills means you have anxiety" tweet that got a ton of traction last week. Either way it feels like you can't escape this kind of content these days and it definitely reminds me a LOT of tumblr back in the day where you had people over simplifying illnesses and disorders to the point where anyone could watch a video and convince themselves they had whatever illness the video was talking about. which is kind of scary considering that tik tok is a lot more popular and accessible to young kids and I feel like we're still seeing the effects that tumblr had on teenagers during the mid 2010's so like... what's gonna happen to these kids now. The ability that app has to speedrun spreading misinformation is also super scary to consider in this situation too. And to make matters worse I feel like nowthe issue isn't even limited to mental illnesses anymore considering the (frankly strange) rise in people self diagnosing themselves with ibs of all things... lmao. I thought we could check out some of the content for ourselves from ADHD tik tok as well as the general umbrella of mental illness content to see the ~implications~ of it all as well as why not only the content machine for it but also the more accepted "quirky" self deprecating versions of the same content are partly to blame. Since 2021 Colleen Hoover and her catalouge of books have been EVERYWHERE on the internet but especially on booktok where it's borderline impossible to go on there without seeing a copy of It Ends With Us, Verity or Ugly Love. I've always been a bit of a spectator on the Colleen Hoover conversation since I had never read any of her books for myself but recently I thought it would be fun to give myself a bit of a challenge and enroll myself in Colleen Hoover boot camp if you will. So I went through a bunch of lists on the best and craziest Coho books to get a mix of five books that I've read to get a good idea of her world that we're going to read through together! Originally I was just planning to cover all five books in one video but I realized as I was going through the process that there was way too much I wanted to cover in each book to be able to fit it all without it being all over the place so instead I've broken it up into three parts. Today we're going to be doing a sort-of sequel to a video I did a few months back. Some of you guys might remember that we looked back on the absolute chaos that was Fifth Harmony in my "Exploring the World's Messiest Girl Group: Fifth Harmony" video and it got me thinking about the boy groups around that time as well. Naturally, I couldn't help but think of the biggest boyband at that time, One Direction and I thought it could be fun to do a similar style video for them! To give a brief backstory on the group, One Direction was a boyband consisting of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne formed on X Factor back in 2011. From there they went on to become one of the biggest boybands in the world, putting out four albums as a five-piece and a final fifth album as a four member group after Zayn left in 2015. Post-2016 they've been on hiatus but every member has been pretty active when it comes to putting out solo material even dabbling in other things outside of music like acting! and nfts..... yaaaaay. During the 1D days though since the band was super popular there practically wasn't a day that went by during an album cycle where things weren't flying off the handle and it definitely felt like a collaborative effort between the band and fanbase lmao. From the ridiculous lengths fans would go to for interactions like hacking security footage, 1d members sparring with other boy bands on twitter, tons of fanbase conspiracies (i.e larry stylinson, mr. x), there was just complete chaos at all times. I will say this video ended up going in a slightly different direction than the fifth harmony one, I feel like it ended up being a hybrid between an exploring one/those like iceberg videos but it was honestly so much fun and super nostalgic to make so I hope you enjoy it! :) As usual, if there are moments that came to mind while watching this that you wanna share in the comments below, have at it! I've been thinking recently about stans and fanbases on the internet and how over the past few years they've seemed to get more and more flack for being either too intense, too insane, or just generally "the worst" thanks to all of these fanbases growing like crazy with more people joining online communities. Practically every large fanbase at one point has been regarded as "the worst" online whether it’s stans for the dream smp, kpop, stranger things, swifties, furries, arianators, marvel, harries, disney, potterheads or gamers… the list can go on for a WHILE lol. So I thought it could be fun to decide once and for all (at least according to me lol), who the most insane fanbase really is. I looked online to see which communities were seen as insane most often then originally was planning to definitively rank them on a tier list before realizing that if i really want to find the most insane fanbase there can only really be one. So instead we’re using a bracket system where we can pit the fanbases against each other until we have our answer :) As usual while this might be definitive for me it doesn't have to be definitive for you so if you would have placed people differently let me know in the comments below, honestly love when yall put ur reasoning there it’s really fun to see how different some people’s results are compared to mine and why LOL. Someone actually commented asking for this a few weeks back though (thank you btw! probably wouldn't have ended up doing it if you hadn't!!) so I took it as fate and thought it was about time we looked back on one of the messiest girl groups in history, Fifth Harmony. To give a brief backstory on the group just in case you aren't aware of them, Fifth Harmony were a girl group consisting of Camila Cabello, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane that was formed on X Factor back in 2012. This was around the time that other X Factor groups like One Direction and Little Mix were active and doing well so they were seen as their American counterpart. After placing 3rd on the show they went on to release 2 EPs and 4 albums before going on hiatus in 2018 while Camila Cabello left the group in 2016. Since then all the girls are pursuing their solo careers. While Fifth Harmony has a great discography I think they're most well known for their footprint on the internet including a lot of shade, chaos and memes so I thought we could compile some of their best (and worst) moments as a group to look back on throughout all their eras from Better Together and Reflection all the way to 7/27 and their self titled era. This isn't going to be an exhaustive look at their history as a group because I wanted to focus more on the stand out moments that felt the most "Fifth Harmony" if that makes sense lol. Recently we’ve seen couples like Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello as well as Tom Holland and Zendaya be accused of being pr relationships. I ended up looking online to see which celebrity couples throughout the years most people tend to agree were pr so that we could rank them within the alignment system based on how obvious or chaotic they were. As I said in the video these relationships being pr or not is based on hearsay LOL so don't take this too seriously. I'll be honest i didn't think i'd be making a video for Netflix's 365 days finale for at least another year. Mainly because the sequel: 365 Days: This Day, just came out a few months ago and since that took two years to come out the last thing I would have expected was for Netflix to randomly drop the last movie of the franchise: The Next 365 Days, this month. That's exactly what happened though and while I still don't understand why they did it, I can't lie... I'm a little excited that I don't have to wait 28374 ions to find out what happens to our girl Laura because of course we're gonna watch it! It'd be way too anti-climatic to leave the series off where it ended in the second movie and Lauras our girl!! we have to stick it out for her and all the absolute chaos the writers of this franchise decide to put her through and trust me... in this one there's a LOT. If you need a quick refresher before getting into it Laura's life is once again up in the air because she's found herself in the middle of her husband's (Massimo) mafia boss tomfoolery and the gardener-who's-actually-also-a-mafia-boss Nacho is back again so I guess we're going to be seeing another love triangle. Who will she choose...? The guy who kidnapped her or the OTHER guy who kidnapped her? Could her options be any worse? Probably not and I hate where this all seems to be headed. Today we’re going to be looking back at some very interesting shows that either used to be on air or are somehow… some way still on the air right now. I had been thinking lately about how Riverdale seemed to be the only teen show really carrying the “chaotic teen show” energy these days in comparison to the 2010’s (technically riverdale fits in that category too tho but obv late 2010’s) when it felt like there was a lot more chaos happening on television. Like Glee was an absolute fire storm of chaos, Pretty Little Liars was out here convincing teenage girls they should aspire to date their english teacher (HELLO?????) and Riverdale is.. currently still being Riverdale. Obviously the chaos isn’t limited to just TV, there are tons of teen movies that have the same insane tendencies but I think it was a lot more common on television since naturally you have to write more, and considering we’re talking about shows from the 2010’s, these shows had LONG seasons so throwing shit at a wall was even more likely back then. So i asked you guys over on ig to send the wildest moments you remember from teen shows that were airing during the 2010’s and some of the answers were… wild lol. I ended up narrowing it down to the main parts of shows like Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale and Glee (the most common ones sent) that either you guys or I felt were the most unhinged and that looking back on… i can’t believe i watched with a straight face. (yes i was an ezria supporter in the early seasons) (yes it is extremely embarrassing but i was a teenager oKAY). It's been a whILE since we've done a movie review on here but I thought with the release of 365 days' sequel, 365 days: this day on Netflix, now was about as good of a time as ever. I know some of you guys might be thinking how tf did this get a second movie considering how terrible the reception was for the first one but lets be real that movie was parked in netflix's top ten worldwide for WEEKS like we knew this was eventually coming... i just didnt realize how soon it would be considering im like a month late on this dfgjdfSome of you guys might remember though that two summers ago we watched the first movie (netflix turned our worst wattpad nightmare into a movie...) and it was an absolute TRIP lmao. long story short it follows a mafia boss and this random girl he decides to kidnap and they ~fall in love.~ Since he's a mafia boss though there's always ~danger~ ooOooo very scary stuff also they... friendly wrestle every like 3 minutes, they pretty much build the plot around these two "wrestling" constantly lol. The last movie ended with our girl Laura presumably dead though so i wanted to check in on our girl and see how these two who are definitely NOT in a toxic relationship ft. stockholm syndrome are doing. For today's video I thought we could check out something I've noticed in the past few years with influencers becoming a lot more common to see in "traditional celebrity spaces," that being the argument on whether influencers should be at them at all. The other argument that follows pretty close behind is whether influencers should even be considered celebrities at this point. With more influencers either from YouTube, Tik Tok or Instagram showing up at bigger celebrity events like the MET Gala or the Grammys, it seems like every year this argument gets brought up again and people are still equally as shocked and annoyed that they were invited in the first place. Honestly seems like no matter which influencer is invited whether it's Liza Koshy and James Charles or Emma Chamberlain and Addison Rae, there are always people really angry about it so I thought we could check it out especially with the 2022 MET Gala happening last monday.If I'm being honest I think these days I'm a lot more neutral on the situation considering whether you like it or not, for younger generations it's impossible to deny that influencers are becoming their celebrities. And if these massive events and awards shows want to keep younger people tuning in (especially considering most of them are struggling right now to hold onto viewership in the first place), they have to start paying attention to them. But it is pretty entertaining watching people on twitter freak out over it all tbh lol. Today we're going to be looking at celebrities again but instead of definitively ranking cringey celebrity couples we're actually going to be looking at something much cringier... the scammy side of celebs. It's true even actual celebrities don't seem to be immune to pushing the same kind of scams to their audience that you see influencers typically fall into and this time it's NFTs. I'm sure if you've been on the internet in the past few months you've seen some iteration of a cartoon monkey or a lion or.. whatever other animal they've turned into a doodle circulating on the internet and they happen to be a common form of an NFT. If you're on Twitter you've definitely seen them considering it seems to be there and Discord that have the highest population of Crypto Bros pushing their products. But the thing is the crypto bros aren't new, what is new in the past month especially is what feels like a suspiciously choreographed wave of celebrities suddenly all coming out publicly praising NFTs. People like Reese Witherspoon, Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber, Jimmy Fallon, Liam Payne and even our Goop lord Gwyneth have suddenly become extremely vocal about their new NFT purchases that happen to be... extremely ugly drawings of cartoon monkeys (i.e Bored Ape)? I don't think you could find a single person (who wouldn't profit off saying so) who actually thinks these monkey drawings are worth any kind of money and it's hilarious watching celebrities not only fork over millions of dollars for them but also stumble over themselves trying to convince their audience that not only do they LOVE their new NFTs but want to get their fans in on the fun too! So i thought it'd be a fun video to look into the recent promotional tour that celebrities seem to be on with their NFTs this past month. For this weeks video I thought there was no better way to start off the year than to check out Netflix's new reality show about the Hype House! The show's been in production for what seems like ages considering they initially announced it quite a while ago but after a long wait it was finally released last Friday and I watched the whole thing so you don't have to or if you did watch it we can discuss :) If you haven't heard of it yet Netflix decided to green light the series "Hype House" for a season (so far) that would go behind the scenes of the biggest (and at this point i think the last standing) tik tok content house full of big-time influencers trying to make it in Los Angeles. Obviously a few years ago when all these content houses started popping up there was a media frenzy over them but considering it's been so long since then I was pretty surprised that Netflix decided to do a series on them, and it turns out I wasn't the only one. From what it looks like online the reception to the series both before its release and after has been pretty unanimous confusion and/or criticism. But despite all that the shows here and it follows the lives of current members like Lil Huddy, Thomas Petrou, Alex Warren, Nikita Dragun, Larray, Kouvr, Vinnie Hacker and also looks back on previous members like Charli D'amelio, Dixie D'amelio and Addison Rae who have since moved on from the group. Today we're going to be looking at tiktok which we haven't done in a while! Previously we've looked at anything from creepy tik tok povs to fake property brothers and how tik tok has made being not like other girls trendy again but I thought we could look at something a bit different happening over on the app- brands. In the past few years brands have been everywhere online and it's no surprise that they'd all flock to tik tok once the app became popular but what's really interesting is the way brands are acting on there versus any other platform. the closest comparison would be to the trend of brands on twitter trying to join in on memes and jokes but I think brands on tik tok are taking it a step further, they don't want to just be funny, they want to be quirky and relatable which... seems impossible considering they aren't a person... they're a brand lol. That hasn't stopped a lot of brands from trying though so I thought we could check out some bad examples as well as some brands who have actually somehow pulled it off like duo lingo's tiktok account. It’s been a minute since we’ve done a movie commentary video, i think the last one we did was for Addison Rae’s He’s All That Netflix movie but if you’ve been around on the channel for a while you know that the fall season includes a very niche tradition around here… watching the latest installment of the after franchise! If you need a refresher, the After movies are based on harry styles fanfiction written by Anna Todd that initially gained traction on Wattpad before eventually being published as an actual book series and adapted into movies.To say the movies got off to a rocky start is an understatement, since they’ve been released the After franchise has been looked at as a bit of a cringey mess due to its origin as wattpad fanfiction considering the platform's.... interesting reputation online. On top of that the plot and acting were.. also interesting. Despite that though, After fans have been very vocal about their trust in the series eventually getting good, but I was pretty shocked to see this year that barely anybody was talking about the latest movie, not even the fans. That's not to say nobody was talking about it at all, but the buzz around the franchise both negative and positive has definitely seen a dramatic decrease. What's also interesting is that a pretty sizable number of actors from the previous movies have been replaced despite there only being two more movies left to film.Speaking of movies left to film, while the new addition to the series is called After We Fell and acts as the third movie in whats i thOUGHT was a three-movie series, it actually turns out that there will be yet another movie before this story finally ends.... lmao (not including the prequel one). SO I thought we could check it out the same way we have with the previous movies and see what Tessa and Hardin get up to in that hour and a half runtime! I'm anticipating an unhinged nightmare. Hey everyone welcome back to my channel! today we’re going to be reviving a series i started over a year ago called the “where the hell are they now” series! I started it last Spring after thinking about what defunct content groups like Team 10 and Magcon would be up to now that they aren’t as big anymore but after those two I didn’t really know who else to do a video on…. until noW (lol)To give a quick backstory, the vlog squad is a content group that was loosely formed through David Dobrik’s vlogs with his friends who all came from former vine fame. As the vlogs grew in popularity the group was given the name “the vlog squad” by their fans and the group leaned into it. The group featured huge creators like David Dobrik (obv), Gabbie Hanna, Liza Koshy, Corinna Kopf, Zane Hijazi, Heath Hussar, Scotty Sire etc and a ton of celebrity cameos over the years. For a pretty long while the vlog squad was seen as “unproblematic favs” due to not only the lack of drama they seemed to get into, but how they swept any drama that came up under the rug by never responding to it. This changed though when a prank against a previous member, Seth resurfaced and allegations against a now-former member Dom also came out. Since then the group’s public reception has shifted from what felt like universal adoration to one that’s a lot more divided. So I thought it’d be interesting to see how this shift has affected past and present members and what they’ve been up to recently- because it’s worth remembering that the vlog squad has seen quite a few members come and go even before the controversy so I wanted to see what they've been up to as well. While the recent changes are definitely part of why I wanted to look into the group, the other big reason was that i felt their situation and potential to grow out of the group looks a lot different than the previous content groups we’ve looked at in this series. I was also just curious about what past members who had been a part of the original vlogs but left before the start of the “new era” a few years ago have been up to. I think what’s also pretty unique about the members (past and present) is that quite a few of them are taking on outside-of-youtube opportunities that are a lot less conventional than what you typically see from youtubers so I thought that was another interesting detail to look into. Sign up for a FREE account and get 20% off Grammarly Premium: grammarly.com/caseyaonso Thanks again to Grammarly for sponsoring today's video! #Grammarlythe true crime community is officially unhingedhi everyone welcome back to my channel! today we’re going to be exploring another internet community but this one is definitely different from the previous ones we’ve looked at like the hustle culture corner ( "hustle culture is an absolute nightmare" ) or MLM boss babe community ( "the pyramid scheme influencer epidemic" ). today we’re going to be checking out the true crime community which has definitely undergone an interesting transition in the past few years when it comes to the content being made so i thought it would be interesting to check it out!it feels like as true crime has only become more and more popular, its community online has grown as well. typically when a community is doing well you'll see a lot of different variations of the content it started out with as more people are inspired to create the content but want to put their own personal spin on it to make it unique. we've seen this a ton in different communities with no issue but i think given the sensitive nature of true crime content, the growing variations are starting to fly a bit off the rails.before you get into the video (hopefully you’re reading this hi hello lol) i wanted to explain some decisions i made for this video and why you may find it a bit different from previous community explorations i’ve done on my channel before. the first being me not going into too much detail about the fan fiction, while i usually love bringing up fan fiction in videos because it can be fun and lighthearted, this content is obviously not anything to laugh about at all and i just didnt think actually reading it out in the video was going to add anything but discomfort- i think knowing it exists tells you enough about the state of some corners of the true-crime community. Secondly, i debated focusing on some specific examples/channels/podcasts within the community but again i felt like doing that wasn’t necessary to get my point across and since i personally think a lot of people within this community aren’t acting maliciously, i didnt want to go out of my way to target someone’s content and by doing so also bring up the controversial stories they covered all over again- hopefully you guys dont mind that! i guess what im aiming with this video is just a discussion with you guys on the community and what you think, i know like all internet communities there are “good” and “bad” creators so i’d love to hear if there’s a difference for you guys when it comes to true crime or if you just want to share your experience engaging with true crime content, feel free! looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say, see you in the comments :) // Socials~*~*~*☞ Follow Me! It’s been a minute since we’ve done a movie review on the channel but I thought the release of Netflix’s reboot of she’s all that, called he’s all that, was the perfect opportunity! I’m sure most of you guys have heard about the movie at some point, either when it was first announced that tik tok's Addison Rae would be starring as the lead or this past week when it finally dropped on Netflix. Obviously a lot of people have thoughts on the reboot considering the original she’s all that is pretty well loved, and the fact that it was starring a tik tokker definitely drummed up some ~controversy~. So I thought it’d be fun to watch it myself and we could chat about what we thought :)) I was actually a pretty big fan of the original movie as a kid so I was definitely interested to see how a reboot would turn out especially since it would be a gender-swapped version. Netflix definitely has the ability to release some bad movies... cough cough... 365 days and after.. BUT they've also been behind stuff like to all the boys before so I honestly headed into this movie not really knowing what to expect in terms of the quality of it. Spoiler alert though if you're reading this before watching, it's definitely... mediocre at best. Thanks again to Casetify for sponsoring today's video :) the sick and twisted reality of mommy blogging Hey everyone welcome back to my channel! today we’re going to be checking out a community i’m sure you’ve heard of but probably haven’t paid too much mind to as of late- the mommy blogging community! some of you guys might remember hearing about that corner of youtube thanks to scandals from youtubers like Myka Stauffer who returned her adopted son after vlogging the entire experience online and using him in advertisements or Nikki Phillippi after she admitted she halted an adoption in Thailand after finding out she legally wouldn’t be allowed to vlog her baby for a year. I thought in this video we could take a more general look at the community to try and understand why what feels like such a controversial corner of youtube is still so popular right now and whether anything good can actually come from it. Plus I thought it’d be interesting to look into why this is such a popular genre in the first place beyond just being a viewer, but actually creating the content and choosing to share so much of your child’s life online with millions of strangers. Some of you guys might be thinking that mommy blogging and family channels are interchangeable and I’d definitely agree with you to an extent, there’s definitely a lot of crossover but I think that there’s a slight difference in the approach. I almost feel like mommy blogging tries to position itself as the more refined and “mature” take on family vlogging, where there’s less clickbait or shock value… or fake pranks. It’s also usually more the mom who’s the front and center voice relaying her experience with her children versus including the entire family as a “brand” and the videos tend to lean more into the lifestyle category versus vlog. But just because they may try to be more refined than family channels, doesn’t mean they’re exempt from getting into their own drama and controversies. I think children on youtube has always been a heated topic so it’s no surprise that mommy blogging isn’t typically looked at in the best light by the general internet. Thanks again to Audible for sponsoring today’s video :)exploring tik tok's bootleg property brothers hey everyone welcome back to my channel today we’re going to be doing another exploring the world of video! this time we’re looking at a true hidden gem on tik tok in my opinion… the bootleg property brothersa few days ago i came across the weirdest ad i’d ever seen on tik tok, and if you’ve been on the app you know thats saying a lot lol. it wasn’t weird for the usual reasons that ads are on there are but because i fully thought i was watching the property brothers promoting something when it turned out to not be them at all and instead it was a pair of separate twins who look eerily similar to drew and jonathan. at first once i realized it wasn’t them i thought for sure it must be one of those face swapping app things or maybe they’re cousins or something?? but it turns out these guys have zero relation to the actual property brothers and are completely legit. i thought it was a unique enough situation that it might be worth exploring for a video and the more i looked into it, i realized these twins (the even out twins) have their own thing going on social media wise. so somehow we lucked out with two sets of property brother-esc twins that are both Canadian, famous online but not related at all... small world lol. so i thought we could check out their content, see what they’ve got going on and also look into the lore they already have with the property brothers surprisingly. i also thought this was the perfect opportunity to check in on the actual property brothers too, some of you guys might remember i did a video on their music career ages ago (exploring the property brothers' music career and fanbase) and we haven't really seen what they’ve been up to since. thanks to some of your dms though i do know that they have a home renovation game app that we’ll also look at in this video that spoiler alert, was actually a lot better than i expected.. but in fairness, i think my low expectations for celebrity game apps come from the laundry list of influencer-led ones that just turn out to be pay-to-win scams. Go tocasetify.com/caseyaonso today to get 15% off your new favourite phone case!those viral food tik toks are a lot creepier than you think hey everyone welcome back to my channel- today we’re back with another exploring the world of video, tik tok edition~* we’ve looked at a few tik tok communities in the past like the “i’m not like other girls” corner (tik tok made "i'm not like other girls" trendy again... great) and the fight between millennials and get z on tik tok (tik tok’s “gen z vs millennial war” is... embarrassing) but I think the community we’re looking at today definitely wins when it comes to the weird factor lol. if you’ve been on the internet in the past few weeks you’ve probably seen a “messy food tik tok” show up on your twitter, facebook or tik tok feed. when they started showing up on my newsfeed i was completely confused and thought it’d be the perfect community to do a bit of a deep dive to figure out where all these videos were coming from and why they were so unhinged to begin with but still seemed to only get wilder as time went on. it turns out the deeper you look into it, while a lot of these videos at first glance seem like tik toks, they’re originally from facebook of all places thanks to a magician (not joking lol) who decided he wanted to create an MCU for gross food content on the internet. somehow the videos gained so much traction (and angry responses) on facebook that people started taking the content and reposting it on other platforms like tik tok and twitter where it only became more chaotic with people running into the content with little to no context and just straight up disgust at what they were watching. but regardless the content continues to rake in millions of views on any and every platform it gets reposted on which is crazy... it's the kind of content that people quite literally can't look away from. It’s been a minute since I did a “where the hell are they now” video and while I was thinking of a topic for one, I realized reality tv might be an interesting choice! I know it’s slightly different from previous videos in the series because I usually choose social media groups or collectives like Magcon or Team 10 but I thought since the changes of reality tv in the past few years have been so dramatic because of social media that it could be fun to look into. I’m sure at this point you’ve probably come across either an influencer on a reality show like Love Island or Temptation Island, or you’ve seen one completely dedicated to an influencer like Tana’s MTV web series Tana Unfiltered or Nikita Dragun’s Snapchat series... Nikita Unfiltered (lol) either way I think it’s safe to say influencers have been taking of the reality tv world.. but I don’t know if that’s for the better of shows or worse. SO for today’s video I wanted to try and answer a question I’ve been asking myself for the past few years, “what the hell happened to reality tv,” because I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like reality tv has really lost the spark that gave it so much popularity in the first place. We’ll look at some of the new influencer shows, influencers joining traditional series and also some new shows beyond influencers that in my opinion still just aren’t the same as the old stuff even though they’re checking off every box and on paper are technically “wilder.” I know I always say this lol but im suPER curious to know what you guys think about this one especially because my opinion and experience with current reality shows is just my own. Last week you might have caught (or heard about) the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren boxing fight event, or that they had somehow convinced people like Doja Cat, Saweetie, Diplo, Pete Davidson, The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber (????) to perform at it or show up. A ton of clips from the fight were all over my timeline that night so I thought it would be interesting to look into it especially considering Jake Paul seems to have decided to become a full-time boxer now. The more I looked into the one event though, I realized it might be more fun to look at the trend of influencers turning to boxing as a whole since I found out it isn’t just the Paul brothers and KSI who have taken up boxing in the past few years. SO I guess the best way to describe this video is a general look at the boxing trend on youtube, how it started and became so successful and how it’s now become a trend amongst other influencers like Tik Tokers ahead of the Battle of the Platforms boxing fight between Austin Mcbroom and Bryce Hall. But don’t worry we’ll also be looking a bit more into the most recent Jake Paul fight because the clips that came out of that event are… interesting to say the least. Today we’re back with another exploring the world of video! If you’ve been on youtube for a bit you’ve probably noticed the trend of youtubers (and now in general, influencers) releasing music. Whether it’s spoof parodies, joke songs attached to skits from videos, diss tracks or songs that are meant to be taken seriously as original music, there are a TON of examples online of influencers trying to becomes singers, rappers or performers beyond the platforms they initially became famous off of. It feels like now more than ever though that influencers are dropping songs all over the place so considering all those new releases I thought it would be fun to look into the whole phenomenon and try to figure out why regardless of most of the songs getting panned by the general public, trying out a music career is still a super popular path that a lot of influencers decide to take. SO in today’s video we’ll be looking at a general timeline of influencer music, from back when influencer music was just “youtuber music” i.e people like Troye Sivan, Venetian Princess, Shane Dawson, Ryan Higa, Bart Baker and Jake Paul to present day where it’s better described as influencer music considering creators from other platforms like Addison Rae, Dixie Damelio and Lil Huddy from Tik Tok have been attracting a ton of attention for their own recent releases that haven’t just gotten online attention but also some decent traditional promo as well on different talk shows- something a lot of youtubers haven’t been able to pull off even though they’ve been releasing music for a lot longer. From the title you can probably tell that we're going to be exploring the world of toxic ships, it's been a minute since we've done an "exploring the world of" video so I'm excited to be back with one! If you've been on the internet you've probably witnessed how intense and devoted some fans can become whether it's on tumblr, tik tok, twitter or instagram, and these can be fans of anything or anyone really, but when it comes to toxic fans in today's video we're focusing on "shippers" who ship singers that they believe are in undercover relationships with each other. If you aren't sure what a shipper or ship is, the act of shipping is hoping two people end up together romantically. Everyone's "shipped" people at some point whether they were aware of it or not, maybe they were characters in a tv show or movie! But today we're looking at a specific type of shipper, the toxic kind lol. The "ships" we'll be focusing on today are Larry Stylinson which is a ship name for Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson previously from One Direction as well as Camren which is the name for Camila Cabello and Lauren Jaregui's ship, previously from Fifth Harmony.So we'll be doing a bit of an internet deep dive if you will.. looking at the general idea of shipping: what it is, why it's appealing for people etc as well as exploring the internet history behind the Larry Stylinson and Camren ships specifically because I think they're quite unique considering they aren't a ship that involves fictional characters... they're real people and also because they've lasted so long even though both One Direction and Fifth Harmony have been disbanded for years now.
