This is the first chatty video I filmed in a while (I filmed it before Part 1 of this series!) and while I wore this look hundreds of times, I haven't tried this look in months, let alone filmed a tutorial. When editing this video, I spent a lot of time looking at my face. Listening to my words, tweaking sound, color correcting, deciding what stays and what goes (most goes, btw). After spending a good hundred hours filming and editing (oh the editing), I briefly considered scrapping the whole thing. I could just film it again. Do it better. Say it clearer. But I actually think the act of trying is more interesting to watch than the act of proselytizing.I feel like a lot of us might feel bogged down by pressure of what to say, how to say it, and how people will receive it. I talk about a couple of "controversial" topics in this video, but hopefully in ways that start a conversation instead of shutting one down. I've been particularly inspired by this talk by Jennifer Reich (youtu.be/CTj_xoCuhPU) about working to create a culture of reciprocity. I'm figuring out what role this channel and these videos play in an ongoing conversation about the plethora of ways to move forward.
