This video, brought to you by curiosity and boredom, attempts to answer that question.CRITERIA:1. This video includes ONLY major appearances. This typically means being playable in a game’s main story/mode or having a significant role in the story.2. Crossover appearances are valid as long they’re not just brief cameos. Some characters in this list have appeared in crossovers that sold more than their own games!3. Re-releases, remakes, etc. count as their own games; their sales do NOT stack on top of the original releases. Whichever one is higher is the one that counts.4. Sales of games that originally released on multiple platforms are combined, because they’re still the same game. Later re-releases do NOT count on top of that though, as per rule 3.5. I counted most of the Zelda characters as general incarnations even though they’re modeled after specific games.
