#christmas #german #fairytalesSlow Living in Autumn | Bucket List and collecting MushroomsThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-10-30 | Slow living in autumn - How can that look like? Well, easy question! Autumn really is the season of slow living!! When the world gets calmer and darker and our home and clothing gets cozier, it's so much easier to slow down. I created a bucket list for this fall, as I don't wanna miss out on the amazing autumn activities as autumn is my favorite season. In this video you can see me act on it: I decorated a beautiful autumn wreath with the colorful foliage, visited the cows on the apple field, went on a stunning aut umn hike in the German Alps, collected rose hips and dried them to rose hips tea for the winter and went mushroom hunting in the forest toghether with my dad. Enjoy this beautiful autumnal slow living vlog from the Bavarian countryside 🍂🍁

#slowliving #autumn #bucketlistIssyk-Kul lake Kyrgyzstan | Yaks, Nomad Games and KarakolThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-10-15 | Our stunning adventures at Issyk-Kul lake Kyrgyzstan can't be discribed with words, but maybe with a video ;) After leaving the spectacular Song Kol plateau, we stayed two nights in Atbaschy, a beautiful little city next to an imposing high mountain range and a pristine braided river. There we went on a hike to the highest waterfall of Kyrgyzstan, where we saw yaks for the very first time in our life!! We also visited a sheep wool felt manufactory, where we felted ourselfs and bought beautiful kyrgyz handmade rugs. Arriving at Issyk-Kul lake, we stayed in a wonderful campground at the beach and got a demonstration of the traditional kyrgyz hunt with golden eagles, the nomad game Kok Boru and kyrgyz folk music with traditional instruments. We drove on to visit Karakol, the most important city at Issyk-Kul lake, where we went on a typical kyrgyz market and walked around the wooden orthodox christian church Holy Trinity. Our last days in Kyrgyzstan we spent wild camping at the north shore of Issyk-Kul lake and sightseeing in Bishkek.

#kyrgyzstan #travel #issykkulKyrgyzstan Adventures | of Nomads, Horses and MountainsThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-09-24 | In August 2022 my friends from university and I went on a three weeks field trip in Kyrgyzstan - the land of nomads, horses and mountains. The journey started in Bishkek, the kyrgyz capital, where we could relaxe the first two days and prepare for the outdoor trip. Then we started a road trip through the north of the country mostly following the silk road, which brought us to our first wild camping spot. We went on a beautiful hikes to the stunning Kol-Tor Lake and into the Boom Canyon. My personal highlight of the whole travel was the time in the nomad camp in the Song Kol plateau, where we slept in the typical kyrgyz jurts, watched the nomad game Kok Boru and went horse riding in the endless grass land. Everyone in Kyrgyzstan ownes animals like sheep, cows, horses and yaks, which are everywhere around. We also tryed lot's of authentic kyrgyz food and had a fun time with the other students.

#slowliving #citySeptember in German Culture and Paganism - The Autumn Equinox and MabonThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-09-03 | September is my favorite month, because I have my Birthday in September :D In paganism and the anchient cultures of middle Europe the autumn equinox on September 22/23 plays an important role. The last harvest feast of the Celtic pagan year 'Mabon' takes place on and around this day. Mabon is all about the gratitude for the harvest and it was the sign to beginn with the preparations for winter. Mabon is celebrated with a big meal, that includes all the harvest goods. The name of the month comes from the latin word "septem" ("seven"), because September was the seventh month in the anchient Roman calendar. The spiritual meanings of September evolve all around gratitude and also transition and change, as it is the time when nature changes from summer and growth into winter and decline. It's also the time to reflect on yourself if all the goals and dreams you set up in the beginning of the year are already accomplished or if you have to work on some now, so you can be proud of yourself in the end of the year.

#september #spirituality #mabonSlow Living Camping Adventure at Schloss NeuschwansteinThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-08-27 | In the beginning of August my boyfriend Michi and I went on a slow living camping adventure in our region. We camped near a lake, visited the famous castle "Schloss Neuschwanstein", hiked up a stunning mountain and enjoyed lots of delicious food in the restaurants of the area.
How to START SLOW LIVING and what will happen when you dare to do it: youtu.be/xE2SHPS084g
The simple life on the campground helped us so much to wind down and also the fact that we hadn't a long drive to go there was so relaxing. Schloss Neuschwanstein is by the way the inspiration for the Disney castles, but it's real of corse. The construction started in 1868. It was built for the Bavarian king Ludwig II., who got famous for his passion for building castles. Unfortunately king Ludwig II. was found dead in a lake in 1886, before his masterpiece Schloss Neuschwanstein was even finished. When there is one thing, that brings me emidiately into the present moment and stops me from overthinking, then it is hiking. It's my favorite way to practice mindfulness and my favorite slow living habit.

In this video you gonna find out why slow living is so benefical, how to start a slow living lifestyle and what slow living will change in your life. I've been on a slow living journey or three years now and what got me into it, was that I needed a contrast to our very fast paced existence in this modern world. I wanted a life worth living back, far from all the noise and so I started:
- limiting my screen time radically - spending more time in silence - cultivating wonderful slow living habits - practicing mindfulness and gratitude
These are my most important slow living tips for beginners by the way.
Slow living enabled me to live in the present moment and feel gratitude for everything I have. I became more confident and less insicure and finally knew what I really want in life and what is important. You can say that I found purpose in life, got so much happier over all and really lived these past three years!!

#slowliving #countryside #inspirationAugust in German Culture and Paganism - What to learn from Lughnasadh/LammasThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-08-13 | August got its name from the famous Roman emperor Augustus and is the last summer month in middle Europe. On the first of August the pagan feast Lammas or Lughnasadh takes place that celebrates the first summer harvest of the grains. It is called after the Celtic god of the sun, grains and the harvest Lugh. The customs center around the happiness about having enough food for the very first time since winter and people used to bake special breads and cakes for the celebration. In German culture the blessing of the herbs ("Kräuterweihe") is an important feast on August 15. On and around this day the most important time for foraging certain wild herbs starts and it's good to gather them now for the winter. In August you can really celebrate the "harvest" or rewards of your hard work and be proud on yourself for everything you've accomplished this year already. Another spiritual task is also collecting inspirations for your creations like we collect herbs or the farmers gather their harvest goods. It's also a time for personal development and growth as we can use the energy of the summer month and the spare time, we often get in August to work on ourselves. Out in nature everything is still growing and evolving and so can we 💚

#mindfulness #travel #croatia #shortsThe perfect daily ROUTINE on VACATIONThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-07-06 | A day spend mindfully is the most precious time of our life! Let's try to make every day that precious! On our trip to Croatia I really tried to live according to my intention to be in the present moment an mindfully enjoy all the time. Here is how my mindful daily routine looked like: I got up, got ready and went down to the beach to do my morning meditation. I ask myself to simple questions during my morning meditation: What is my intention for the day? - And - On what goal or dream do I want to work that day? Setting an intention in the morning very much influences how your day will be, so don't underestimated the power of it. It's important for me to check in with myself regularely, if I'm on the right path and work towards my real dreams and desires, so I focus on the important things. After the meditation, I went into our landlords garden and harvested a lemon and some kumquats from the trees. We prepared a simple and healthy oatmeal with the fruits and had our lemon water to stay hydrated. Around noon we stayed on the terrace to protect ourselfs from the strong midday sun and I used to read and do some university work during this time. On the late afternoon we used to go snorkeling and swimming in the sea, to watch the fish and starfish and do some sports. Swimming is a wonderful sport, that trains your whole body, while being gentle on your joints and it's great fun of course :) On the island of Hvar there are mostly rock beaches, that are super exciting for snorkeling as you can also see the beautiful red mediterranean sea stars. In the evening we often went out for dinner enjoying the wonderful local food and the walk to the restaurant along the seaside. I hope you enjoyed my mindful, slow living and self care focused daily routine and found it inspirational and helpful 💚 I started focusing on producing more inspirational videos for personal development and living a healthy and happy life, as I believe these are the most beautiful and important things one can ever strive for.
The BOOK I read on the terrace, about creating a beautiful life full of happiness:

#mindfulness #travel #croatiaHow to travel MINDFULLY - Our Croatia TripThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-06-29 | Mindfulness really is the most important life skill to learn in my humble opinion! When we travel we can really excersise on living more in the present moment and mindfully enjoying everything we experience. Friends, I'm so proud to share my Croatia travel vlog with you 💚 I really put a lot of work into making it inspiring and informative about all the special historical places we visited. Our trip started in the city of Split in south Croatia, where we seen the impressive old city built within the walls of the anchient palace of the Roman empirer Diokletian, who also importet some old Egyptian sphinx statues from Egypt. Then we went by ferry to the island of Hvar where we spent two weeks visiting the city of Hvar, the palace of the Croatian poet Petar Hektorović and the city of Stari Grad, which is famous for its old Dalmatian stone houses and the fields around, that were first cultivated by the ancient Greecs 400 BC. Lastly we visited Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, where we've witnessed the daily shot of the medival cannon at the Lotrščak Tower, admired St. Mark's Church with the codes of armes of Croatia and Zagreb on the roof and explored the botanical garden and the Tkalčićeva street, that is super lively at night with all the restaurants. Travelling more mindful really is an art we have to excersise and cultivate: It all begins with setting the intention to do so and than living by it. You can always check in with yourself with the question: Do my thoughts and actions go together with my intention? It really is all about enjoying the present moment with lots of appreciation and admiration. Don't forget doing this when you eat! Enjoy every single bite of your food and appreciate the local cuisine. You must also learn about the history and geography of the place you visit, so you can appreciate it fully and have some much more interesting and informative stories when you come home. Have a wonderful mindful vacation 💚

So, I found sea beans on the rocky beaches of the island and rosemary in our landlords garden, where I also picked a lemon from the tree. We cooked a delicious vegan veggie bean stew and a tomato cucumber salat in which I included the sea beans. It turned out to be the most delicious dinner at the seaside with the taste of the Croation islands.

#monthlyfavoritesHow to BOOST the IMMUNE SYSTEM naturally & First GARDENING this YearThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-05-26 | The weekend started pretty normal in the south German countryside. We had warm and sunny spring weather and started the gardening season as we now past the ice men in the end of May. The ice men or frost saints are a weather phenomenon, that often occures in the middle to end of May. After it already got warm, there will be few days of cold and frost. The ice saints were martyrs and bishops between the 3rd and 5th century. This year we skipped them and my grandparents and I started to plant cucumbers and parsley in our veggie garden. In this countryside vlog I also show you a easy to do vegan ice cream recipe. You just need a blender, ripe frozen bananas and frozen raspberries. When I arrived home in our flat again, we discovered that my boyfriend catched covid! Now we use natural remedies and healthy foods to boost both of our immune systems naturally, so he gets healthy and I stay healthy! We for example make tea from the lemon balm my grandma and I harvested, as it cures headaches and I foraged fresh wild herbs from the forest field. We also use a lot of garlic, ginger and onions in our food, as these are healthy prebiotics and antiviral. What are your favorite natural remedies for when you are sick? Share them in the comments, please 💚

I've been working a lot lately, so I took a one day vacation to the forest, just by myself, to go solo picnicing. I found the most dreamy place in a wild flower field and reflected on how important and powerful it is to always enjoy the simple things in life fully - just like Anne with an E. The simple joys in our day to day life can really make our wonderful existance on this planet happier and we learn how to life in the present moment and enjoy it. Simple, attentive and slow living really is the key to happiness in my opinion. So join me relaxing in a sunny German spring flower field in the middle of the forest having a lovely solo picnic and picking wild herbs for dinner!

#slowliving #simplejoys #AnnewithanEMAYPOLE Set-up in our BAVARIAN VILLAGE - German Traditions in MayThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-05-11 | May is a month, in which a lot happens in rural Germany. The most important ancient tradition is the maypole set-up and celebration. It may originate from Germanic forest rituals, as Germanic people were worshipping forest goods and tree spirits. Today the maypole custom takes place on April 30 or the first of May. In most villages the may tree is put up by hand by a group of young and strong villagers. In our village this takes about two hours and it is a huge feast in the countryside. Everyone is wearing their traditional dresses - men wear "Lederhosen" and women wear "Dirndl". The traditional music band of the village plays many songs and when the maypole stands straight and is fastened, a young villager has to climb it to remove the lines, that were used for stabilizing the tree during the set-up. When he's done, he has to pull up "a Maß Bier", which is one liter of beer. Then he has to drink it as fast as he can up there on the 40 m high maypole. There are some other traditions surrounding the maypole like the "Maibaum Stehlen" in the night before the set-up, where members of other villages try to steal the maypole of their neighbors. There also is the tradition of "Liebesmaien", where a guy puts up a smaller maypole for his girlfriend or crush to show his love and appreciation. We also celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day is a very young tradition for Germany, as it got implemented by the unity of German flower sellers in 1923. It comes from the American woman’s right movement and the flower sellers seen the commercial potential of the feast to sell more flowers. The spiritual tasks for May are to focus on love and relationships. May is the most popular month for getting married and fertility plays a big role as most plants bloom during this time and nature is getting very fertile. So, spend much time with your loved ones and partners and show them your love and appreciation as best as you can!

I usually start my night time routine by cooking a healthy dinner for my family/my boyfriend and me. Now that it is spring, I love to use fresh garden and wild herbs like bear's garlic, dandelion, daisies and chives and lots of veggies of course. After dinner I love to go on a nature walk in the forest to get some fresh air, do sports and wind down. After that I switch of my phone for a phone free evening and when I have time, I enjoy to take a relaxing hot bath. Sometimes I do yoga before bed to move, stretch and calm down. I also like to read and when the light is switched off, I do my daily gratitude meditation. Gratitude is super important for a happy, fulfilled life and helps me to see everything in a more optimistic way and maintaIin great mental health.

#healthyhabits #eveningroutineWe will DIE, but do we LIVE FULLY? - Easter Vlog & What Death can teach us about LifeThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-04-23 | Easter in the south German countryside - A wonderful family feast with colored eggs and lamb shaped cakes. In this rural life Vlog I show you glimpses of my families Easter celebration and activities around the holiday. Most importantly we will discuss what the meaning of the Easter feast and death can teach us for our life, because how can we live fully without taking death into our considerations? I think it's not possibly. Buddhist monks meditate about the idea of an early death frequently and I started doing the same. It gives you calmness and peace and traines you to live in the present moment. When we went on a forest walk on Easter Sunday I reflected more about the importance of following a healthy lifestyle, as my grandparents are in their mid 80's and still super fit and sportive. They always payed attention on following a healthy diet and doing lots of sports, which I'm super grateful now, because now we can spend all this wonderful active time together!! I want to provide the same bliss for my children and grandchildren and that's one of my motivations to live a healthy life. It also makes me feel better, happier, stronger and more energetic. My grandfather, my dad and I also went skiing in the Bavarian Alps, which I also show you in this wonderful countryside Vlog.

The spiritual Meaning of April and its German TraditionsThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-04-07 | April - the month of April fool's and the ever changing weather. The name of the month originates in anchient Roman paganism and probably comes from the latin word aperire (to open) as the buds and sprouts open in nature during April. In German culture there is the tradition of April fool's on the first of April, when we tell lies to the people around us and deascalate by saying "April, April!" which is the sign that it just was April fool's. The tradition of April fool's is common around the world today, but it probably originates in Augsburg, Germany or France. The spiritual task for April is finding happiness in life, which is a big and beautiful one we gonna cover in the next videos.

The MUSIC in this video is from Epidemic Sound epidemicsound.com/referral/usoka4FUNKEN in the Alps - South Bavarian Funkenfeuer tradition - VlogThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-03-09 | It's finally the Funken vlog I promised you back in February! I'm so happy to be able to share this, because the Funken in our village actually got cancheled, but we drove into the Alps into a small village in a valley to got to a Funkenfeuer there and take you along. It was super special as it was a privat Funkenfeuer done by a farmer family. It was much smaller than the official ones done by villages I've seen before, but that didn't take any of the magic from it. Funken is an old south Bavarian fire custom that probably originates in Germanic paganism. In the fire we burn a witch made out of straw and old clothing which should resemble winter or the winter demons. If you wanna learn more about the very unique south Bavarian Funken tradition, watch this video of mine: youtu.be/UH7Iuy5C_og

The MUSIC in this video is from Epidemic Sound epidemicsound.com/referral/usoka4The spiritual Meaning of March and its Germanic/Bavarian FeastsThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-03-02 | Welcome to the second episode of the spiritual meanings of the months in roman and Germanic paganism, Christianity and today’s German culture. The origin of the name of the month March lays again in ancient roman paganism, as the god Mars was worshiped during this time of the year. In Germanic paganism there was one important feast during March - Ostara, the feast of the goddess of the dawn and fertility, that was celebrated on and around the equinox. During the celebration of Ostara eggs and bunnies were important fertility symbols and that's where the customs of the easter bunny and the colored easter eggs are coming from. With Christianity the symbol of the easter lamp was added, as it stood for Jesus being slaughtered like a lamp. Today we celebrate easter in rural south Germany with colored eggs and a lamp shaped cake that the priest blesses in church before we eat it at a festive family easter breakfast. Between Fasching and easter there is also the Christian tradition of the fasting time, where in medieval ages meat was strictly forbidden... well not that strictly, as the monks and the catholic church invented all kinds of things and strange rules to bypass the restrictions, like very strong beer, schwäbische Maultaschen or the rule that beavers are fish and not meat.

The MUSIC in this video is from Epidemic Sound epidemicsound.com/referral/usoka4HOW to craft glowing GALAXY paintings with fairy lights + How I shop second hand quality clothingThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-02-23 | Spring is slowly awakening in alpine rural Germany! The snowdrops started to bloom, the first tulip leaves appeared and the catkins in the moor area are sooo soft right now! I performed the first gardening task for this year and sewed the tomatoes so they will carry ripe fruits in late summer. I felt very crafty this weekend so I painted a glowing galaxy painting in which I poked holes and adjusted fairy lights behind so it actually glows! In this video I also open a new conversation about sustainability on this channel. This week’s sustainability tip is about second-hand shopping, as it is the most nature friendly way to shop for clothes. I thrifted most of my wardrobe in thrift stores and on the app 'Vinted'. There you can find many high-quality flawless items for super cheap prices! I got for example 100% cashmere sweaters or massive 14K gold earrings for a fraction of the original price and can afford a high quality, otherwise expensive wardrobe this way through second hand shopping. I'm in love with thrifting!! Hope I could motivate you to try it too :D

The MUSIC in this video is from Epidemic Sound epidemicsound.com/referral/usoka4The spiritual Meaning of February and its Germanic/Bavarian FeastsThe Art of Nature - Germany2022-02-08 | Welcome to my new series about the spiritual meanings of the months! We start with the month of February in roman, celtic and germanic paganism, christianity and south German culture in general. I'll tell you how the name February and Valentine's Day originate in the pagan culture of anchient Rome, how imbolc is traditionally celebrated in Germany and how it became the christian candlemas. I further talk about german carnival or Faschings- traditions like the carnival parades or the Weiberfasching and our special south German Funkenfeuer tradition which is an old germanic fire custom to expel the winter demons. The month of February always was about the returning light, as the days get longer in middle Europe, and also about purification and love/mating. An importan task for this time is the spring cleaning which includes not only your flat or house, but also your mind and soul.

We start with crafting our advent wreaths in the very begining of Advent and on the sunday four weeks before Christmas Eve the first candle on the advent wreath is lit. It is like a weekly Advent calendar ☺️ This year december has also been very snowy and we got the first snow in the German countryside close to the mountains ❄️🏔️ So I can also take you in snowy adventures in this vlog 😍 What we also do in Advent is baking tons of Christmas cookies!! Last year I showed you our secret recipe for chocolate moons and this year I made Vanillekipferl or vanilla crescents as they are called in english. Here you find the ingredients and measurements for the dough:
Vanillekipferl recipe
(vegan & authentic, because also my grandma's traditional recipe is vegan ☺️)
200 g magerine (soft ➡️ take it out of the fridge earlier)
100 g sugar
200 g ground almonds
1 package vanilla sugar
300 g flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
When they're baked and cooled down, sprinkle them with some vanilla sugar, powdered sugar and the inner part of a vanilla bean and you're done ✅🤗

The trees showed off their most colerful October foliage in red, orange and yellow. It was absolutely breathtaking in contrast to the blue mountains and the frosty and foggy hills and valleys in the background. I went on an autumnal morning walk to capture the beauty of my place in Bavaria, south Germany in this blissful season. After my morning walk I picked apples at the orchard of our village, madly climbing the apple trees to get the last beautifully ripe apples of the year, feeding some of them to the cute and curious teenage cows on the field. With the rest of my harvest I made some traditional baked oven apples with a honey, cinnamon and hazelnut filling, telling you the recipe and serving them to my parents and grandparents. I wondered if baked apples or 'Bratäpfel' is a German recipe or if it's also traditionally made in other countries... if you know about the history of the recipe or you are from another country and cook it too, please tell me :) For us it's a wonderfully cozy and festive dish we normally prepare around Christmas. It is summer in the German countryside and nature is in it's prime. Also our garden is blooming and is beautifuly green. Since last year we decided to let the grass grow in our garden and only cut it in autumn. We do that, because we want to give insects like bees, bumble bees, all kinds of flies, fire flies, garshoppers, butterflies and many more a place to life and to find food. Insects are very much in danger, because of agricultural changes over the last decades and most gardens having short grass without a single flower. We need insects to survive as they pollinate our feeld crops and also singing brids and other small animals rely on them to feed themselves. With an natural, insect friendly garden, in witch you let the grass grow long and let wild flowers bloom, you help all the species of wild flowers, insects and small animals to not get extincted and find food and a place to live. I also visited our horse, Calida, to take you on a ride out in the Bavarian countryside.Life in RURAL GERMANY - Thunderstorms, Calm Selfcare Weekend and RAV Drum MusicThe Art of Nature - Germany2021-06-29 | Summer came and the countryside changed again into a beautiful green paradise. Walkning barefoot on different natural grounds also builts up the foot muscles, which helps with knee, leg and back pain and prevents bad posture and deformaties. From the mental side, barefoot walking is also a spiritual praxis called grounding. According to this barefoot walking works like a meditation, because you're feeling so much, that the senses are overtaking the brain and it becomes easy to stop thinking.Simple German COUNTRY LIFE - Come FORAGING with me - Nettles & Yarrow Health Benefits + RecipesThe Art of Nature - Germany2021-05-16 | The month of May is my favorite one in spring. Eating fresh wild herbs in spring is very healthy as the plants but all their energy and nutriants into the leaves when they grow. A local restaurant owner once told me, that it's the most healthy thing to eat fresh field herbs in spring, because they aren't as overbred as feeld crops. You won't find any greens that are fresher and also our ancestors went out foraging during this time of the year to get their vitamins in after the winter. The herb I'm harvesting now is called yarrow (Schafgarbe). It is also a natural medicine, because of it's anti-inflamatory and antibacterial properties and has lot's of healthy bitter substances. I also went further into the forest to get some nettles. There is no other plant that is praised more for it's health benefits than the stinging nettle. It's been used for healing purposes for so long that noone knows when it began, but it really helps with blood sugar control, to lower blood pressure, to reduce inflamation and it's also used to detoxify the body and to heal joint illnesses. I can't talk about all it's benefits now, there are too many! My legs got burned a lot during I harvested the stinging nettles, but they say it stimulates the blood flow, so it's ok I guess. At home I dryed the nettles to tea for the winter and with the rest I made lovely hearty nettle pasties with puff pastry and cheese. I also prepared a carrots and yarrow salat - so we had a forest lunch full of vitamins and minerals.BAVARIAN FOOD Culture - Semolina Dumpling Soup Recipe - WHAT IS BAVARIA?The Art of Nature - Germany2021-05-09 | Welcome to my traditional Bavarian grandma kitchen :D So many of you have been asking me about Bavaria lately. Bavaria is a German state in the south east of Germany. The biggest one regarding to the surface and there you can find the German Alps, the high mountain range where I am from. And everything you maybe think is typical German like Brezln, Dirndl, Lederhosen and Oktoberfest comes from this part of Germany. Regarding to the food question we have a lot of traditional dishes here. Today I want to show you a wonderful traditional semolina dumpling soup, because dumpling play a very important role in the Bavarian kitchen. To make semolina dumplings or “Grießknödel” you need semolina of course. I start melting some margarine and when it’s melted, I put in the semolina and water and give it a good stir. The mixture will swell up soon, so you take it from the heat so it doesn’t burn. I like to season it with salt, pepper and nutmeg. At the same time, I also prepared a lovely vegetable soup and during the soup is cooking we can start to form the dumplings. Take about a heaped tablespoon of the mixture and form it into little ovals. Traditionally the semolina dumplings are made with egg that helps to bind the mixture, but this vegan version works fine too. The recipe reminds me just so much of my grandma, because she makes this dish a lot – she says it’s one of these traditional Bavarian recipes that is always good. When you finished forming the dumplings, give them into the hot soup when it doesn’t cook anymore for 5 to 10 minutes. So this is a traditional Bavarian semolina dumpling soup or “Grießknödel Suppe” – one of our current favorites for this unusual cold spring.
