This is the first ever 3lap TAS using Superslide. It allows us to run the track at 120 speed, the upper speed limit for Time Trials.
A few things to note: -We choose Wario Bike for this run, because it can stay stable in the ground due to its hitbox, and this makes it possible to perform Superslide the entire lap. -In order to get into a Superslide state as quickly as possible, the ultra shortcut is preformed on lap1. -On lap3 taking the last sidewalk saves about 0.15 seconds. It can only be used on the final lap because getting off the sidewalk would cancel the Superslide state.

#MarioKartWii #マリオカートWii #TAS[TAS] New Superslide strats (Fast Lap on Luigi Circuit & Moonview Highway)Monster2023-05-05 | Superslide itself has been known for a long time, but there were very few places where it could be used for speedruns. However with Wario Bike, I could keep a state of being stuck in the ground through the entire lap so could complete the lap with almost 120 speed. Without our MKWii TAS community, I wouldn't have been able to finish these 2 Fast Laps so huge thanks to them.
Is this 3 Lap viable? Not for now, as it takes a long time to set up.
RTA viable? I think so, but it'll be hard to make good lines with it.

With enough sideways momentum given from Superhopping and Supergrinding, this shortcut becomes achievable. The shortcut itself doesn't save much time, but we can start a Supergrind upon landing back to the track which saves around 0.4~0.6 seconds (this is what makes this shortcut faster). For reference, the estimated Fast Lap time for No Ultra using 3 shrooms is around 30.650, so Ultra would be faster by 0.24.
Also, the shortcut is classified as an Ultra Shortcut (the 26th one discovered in Mario Kart Wii) because it skips the KeyCheckPoint 1.

You may be wondering why I'm using Wario Bike in this run. That's because it has high handling status which is useful for recovering from lap1 pole clip and taking the turns tight enough with Superhopping (handling stat directly affects how much you turn during hops). Main timesave is obviously from Superhopping through almost all the turns. Other than that, lap1 glitch and its recovery save a bit amount of time due to Wario Bike's high handling stat, and new tree clip strat which allows me to preform Superhopping longer saves around 0.3s on each lap.

About the run -Since we spend most of time on this track running at speed near 120 on the boost panels or Superhopping or Supergrinding, we use 2 shrooms in the early part of the run where there is less acceleration by process of elimination. The other one is used where the car cycle does not get as bad as possible, which in this case is before the bridge on lap3. -Just before starting Supergrinding, it is possible to accelerate more efficiently than if the vehicle were sucked to the ground by having a dwell time during the drift. -At the Supergrinding at the beginning of lap3, the line is worse and roughly 7F/0.167 seconds slower due to the car's cycle. However, this is probably for the best, since using the third shroom before that would make the cycle even worse.

Some things about the run - This time I use Zip Zip because of its high dirt performance (#3 among all vehicles) and Daisy because of her speed and mini-turbo bonus. - I had to take a shroom cut in a weird way, this is because Zip Zip doesn't seem to be able to make the u-turn properly by just drifting. Unexpectedly I didn't lose much time on the shortcut, since SHing can be done before the corner and it changes to a better angle for the u-turn. -SHing in dirt does not mean that momentum (External Velocity) is decreasing, just that the vehicle speed is lower than usual, as can be seen from the ExVel in the lower right corner. - In this run, I often use ±2 inputs on the outside during SHing, this is because it allows me to take a turn tighter and store sideways momentum more than ±7 inputs.
How's Superhopping working? When you do a spin hop, you receive a bit of sideways momentum on the outside, but it is usually run out just after landing. And with Outside Drifting Bikes (ODBs), by drifting after landing, you can store the sideways momentum you have right before landing to the ground. So by repeating a spin hop and drift on landing with ODBs, you can get a lot of speed.

Some things about the run: -When changing the direction of Superhopping, it can be done efficiently if the previous acceleration completely runs out. -In the long straight lines (such as 0:36 or 1:33), airtime is really useful to adjust the angle and even build up the XZ speed. -On lap3 we used a shroom in a different spot than on the other laps to avoid the thwomp right before the ramp section. Both shroom spots saved around 0.5 seconds.

The speedometer displays the XZ speed. This is useful for checking the actual horizontal speed when moving through the air or being affected by objects on the track.
A few things to note about the run: -the reason we re-wheelied on the stairs after the wall trick was not to avoid bouncing, but to maintain the wheelie until the following low trick. -for the ramp on the left route, down trick is faster than left trick because of the cycle of the firebar. -the bouncing strat to get the second low trick on the geyser (found by Marth) helped to get more wheelie time in the air -the last trick that triggers a wheelie saves .007
About the entry into lap 2: First, on this track, the vehicle speed may drop even though you have done nothing on the first bridge. This is because the course adjusts the player's speed in order to keep the moment the player touches the dashboard at about the same position. Therefore in this run, we dared to make the landing at lap 2 beginning a little earlier than the optimal landing, and adjusted our stride so that we would not slow down on the bridge. In the previous run, they entered the lap almost optimally, and their vehicle speed dropped to about 95.3 before they touched the boost panel, while this time it only dropped to 96.1, so I think this is faster.

The reason to re-wheelie after the first wall trick landing is simply so that we don't run out of wheelie before getting a low trick due to a bad wave cycle. We compromised on that because there were other cycles (firebars, thumps, geysers, etc.) that should take priority over the wave cycle. On the 2nd boost panel, we found out that the hop trick allowed us to have more XZ speed in the air and it saved about a frame. As for the speedometer, the left side shows the XYZ speed and the right side shows the vehicle speed.

Now that we can use wii wheel inputs which allow for a wider input range than a gc controller or nunchuck for TASing (thanks to Stebler), I thought some tracks could be pushed to their theoretical limit limits even further, and this is one of them. The main benefit from the wider range of inputs is in the air, for this track especially during the setup for the horizontal wall glitch since I can tilt the stick full down and full left. The time save mainly comes from further optimizations around the horizontal wall glitch with the wii wheel inputs (about 0.1 seconds per lap). And the new strat after the zipper glitch, where I do a wheelie to take a tight line instead of drifting and charging a mini-turbo, saves 2-3 frames. Also the ending hop may seem slow, but when the boost runs out the rate of deceleration is the same whether doing a wheelie or not so I can get the exact same time as if I kept doing a wheelie.

Some explanations: In the Glitch route on this track, there are two points in each lap where you have to completely slow down and then accelerate, and since this is a game, the timing of acceleration is determined by the "frame," which is the smallest unit of input acceptance in the game, so improvements are necessarily frame-by-frame except for the last section on lap 3. Wario has the highest turbo performance of all the heavyweight characters, giving him an advantage over Funky Kong in each section (Dry Bowser's turbo performance is the same as Wario's, but his drift performance is inferior, giving him a disadvantage in the final curve on lap 3). The time save is from the part between using a shroom and hitting the fence (1 frame per lap), the part between releasing the Stand Still Mini Turbo and using a shroom (1 frame per lap too), and the last turn on lap 3 (0.002 seconds), for a total 0.102 seconds improvement.Cool Shortcut on Bowsers Castle (Tool Assisted)Monster2021-03-14 | Unfortunately, this shortcut only saves 0.15 seconds compared with that on the right route because of the slowdown right before.

This is my first CT 3lap TAS. Didn't spend much time on this but it was fun to find out what the best lines and strats were like for TAS. On the bridge, if you touched the top of the third boost panel, your speed would drop to 100 km/h in the air so I tricked off the edge of that to keep my speed constant. I know there are some points which need more optimization on lap 1 and surely believe that sub 2:00 is viable.

Some explanations for this run: At the cannon, we needed to lose the speed to 75.1 for the turnaround for the first shroom spot. And after the first zipper glitch, we used the normal turn instead of the drift since sometimes when turning with a drift we got a wider line than without drifting (Same goes for the last turn before the finishline). At the hills section, we passed through the dash board ramp which gave us the longer boost than the trick boost, and could get the wheelie triggered trick on the last hill behind it. For the landing from the second zipper glitch, we delayed the wheelie because we could receive some sideways momentum in the air that allowed us to stay at 120 km/h speed. We didn't skip the any key-checkpoints so the all shortcuts count the lap.
