I asked about this chatbot for its thoughts on interpretations / themes / hidden meanings of the movie The Shining. The bot responds by favoring pop media sources over film critics and scholars, cites a link that doesn't exist, lies that it has it's own "opinion" about the film then, after deep questioning of its logic process, admits it has no opinions and says the subject matter is beyond its programming.

My main musical inspirations at the time were Prodigy, NIN and aphex twin. Nu-Metal was big at the time so some of that made it into the mixes. I don't play guitar so had to cut various samples in, it's the element of the music I'm least happy with. If I was intending to try and release the music I likely would have gotten some musician friends to record the guitar riffs I wanted. Listening to it all now there's still a lot I like in there. Many tracks are unfinished (I think only one or two of them has a stereo mix) and some started off as just messing around when drunk, but after sobering up I started to like what I'd made and would expand it.
A bit more about the individual tracks ... 0:00 1) SKIN DEEP With this I wanted to make a catchy, fast-paced track combining rock and electronica, but give it some sort of edge that would make it standalone as a unique track, so put some bits of ambience and funk in there. 05:13 2) VAMPIRE'S HONEYMOON Wanted to make something dark, mellow and hypnotic. I did have another version of this that had more variation in the melodies and expanded the last couple of minutes into something much better, but unfortunately I lost that version over the years. 12:14 3) COMPLEX BEAST Very much inspired by some of Aphex Twin's more complex pieces, this is easily the most complex song I ever did. Took 3 months to make. Wanted to have a bit more of a band type of sound compared to Aphex Twin though. A lot of strange and conflicting moods in this one. 18:28 4) STRAIGHT DANCE I started off making this track in just a few hours to show a DJ family member how easy it is to make the kind of music that gets mixed into their sets. I hated the repetition and lack of invention in that kind of music so tried to work roughly within those kinds of boundaries. However the end result I think is quite catchy. Would love to remake this one and add more complexity. 22:55 5) INDUSTRIAL CHARGE My attempt to do a Nine Inch Nails -like composition. I think the first half works very well and has a NIN feel, but I screwed this one up in the second half by putting lame guitar samples in. Would love to remake this one. 26:52 6) ELECTRIC JOURNEY This was an attempt to mix some styles together that normally are kept separate - R&B (which I generally hate), rock, electronica and bits of classical. Inevitably the song is a weird mix of clashing moods. 32:02 7) PARTICLE BEATS One of the earliest tracks i made, mostly using riffs from the software's native library, but occasionally tweaking them. Was going primarily for the kind of compositions present in Prodigy's Music For The Jilted Generation album, but with a tinge of aphex twin. There's something I still really like about this one. 37:54 8) HEAVY ASSAULT Basically set out to make something loud and brutal, like some of the harder metal I was listening to, but combined with video game-like electronica. It's quite tongue in cheek - meant to be funny, but brutal and catchy. 42:36 9) TOYING ABOUT Another tongue in cheek funny piece, but intended to be positive and catchy. I like it but wish I'd added a bit more variation in places. 46:14 10) AN ISLAND OF YOUR OWN Intended as a hypnotic and happy chill out piece that would conjure up visions of tropical beaches and jungles. 51:00 11) EPIC MARCH Another attempt to combine genres that normally don't go near each other - this time classical, synth, metal, funk and marching band drums. It ended up sounding the score for some futuristic horror of war movie. I still like it for the unusual style.
