Joby Aviation 2021-08-02 | We recently flew a series of aircraft flying over an array of calibrated microphones, demonstrating the low noise profile of our prototype electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft and setting a benchmark for the industry.In addition to the Joby aircraft, the ‘parade’ of aircraft included two fixed-wing airplanes and three helicopters of a similar size — all flown over the microphone array at the same speed (100 kts) and approximate altitude (1570 ft).“We set out to develop an aircraft that mimicked natural sounds, like the wind in the trees or the sound of the ocean.
