Sneak preview: Sleepless in Singapore by Germaine Goh (a special commission for re:Sound) Resound Collective 2026-08-19 | What does Singapore sound like when the city finally slows down? 🌃For composer Germaine Goh, Sleepless in Singapore grew from a desire to capture the sights and sounds of the city, as well as the quiet moments at the end of a long day.The four-movement work takes us from morning, through the commute and bustle of city life, into the stillness of night, and towards the beginning of another day.Along the way, Goh draws on musical ideas from Singapore’s cultural traditions, including the alap in Indian classical music and rhythmic ideas inspired by kompang interlocking patterns.And what about a “Singapore sound”? Goh doesn’t see it as one fixed sound. Since graduating with a "Master of Arts" under Professor Jacques Rouvier with the highest distinction, Shaun's performing career has taken him across Europe and Asia.
