Lyrics
Did you see Johnny Depp Today He's lookin kinda sh*t I don't really know whats up with him Since he and Amber Split
And wouldn't ya know? She's back and lookin great and starrin in a brand new flick While Johnny's at home An' he's drinkin' alone An' he's just gotta get over it
It's not how a man should be Just another washed up celebrity It doesn't really surprise me that he hit her
Did you see Johnny Depp Today I thought he was pretty good He's got the cool vibe and a cigerette Just like Johnny would
And wouldn't ya know He's gotta pretty ex Who made him out to be a dick And we didn't know That she was pretty psycho And kinda f*cked up all his shit
So raise ya hands and sing with me We get it Johnny you were 53 She ain't gonna f*ck up your sh*t anymore
Did you see Johnny Depp today? I think he's lookin' sad He's got the cool vibe and a cigerette But man he got it bad
Coz didn't ya know That even men Sometimes get abused And society has forgotten me And I don't know what to do When everyone f*cks you in the ass and doesn't give a sh*t

I'm really enjoying these my story driven pieces like Breaking Up with Adobe, rather than the more 'talky at the camera' videos like A Life Without Facebook. In case you were wondering this block of text is for SEO so you really don't need to read this. But yeah, gotta mention my other stuff like Tarboy so my videos end up in the related section. OK BYE
You guys know the drill, gonna type out a buncha juicy keywords now. Nice searchable words such as 'Short Film' and 'Animation. Keywords that are gonna get my videos in the related column, right next to A Life Without Facebook, Breaking up with Adobe, and Infected by Stupid. Tarboy as well. Perhaps other 2d Animated shorts as well. The fact that you've read this far is a NO NUT NOVEMBER MIRACLE. You get one FREE NUT.
Best keywords ever. Thank god for CEO, making everybody waste their precious time typing out useless junk, when they could be watching my BINGE ON NOX playlist.

Now this is the part where I fill my description with some keywords, so you don't need to read this. Just gonna mentions some juicy keywords like "short film" and "animation". Maybe animated short film. How about my previous stuff like Tarboy and #NOX. Gotta get in those related videos yeah. Hopefully alongside some other 2D animated Shorts. Some great shorts like Breaking up With Adobe or a Life Without Facebook.
Ok I think that's enough. Don't wanna be too spammy. Trending section here I come woo yeah.

I've been working on this for a couple months, and as luck would have it, people are p*ssed about the new Adobe Creative Cloud 2020 update. Can't believe it's been a year since the last Nox.
Tarboy is trending at the moment. Do you ever just type out long strings of text and fill it full of keywords? I do. Nox. Blahlbahblah. I sure hope this video ends up alongside related videos. Alongside some 2D Animation. Maybe next to other videos about Adobe Creative Cloud. That would be very topical.

This took longer than I expected, but I'm glad to at least have it out before christmas. This project was close to being ruined a few days ago. I couldn't complete the last three shots before I flew out on my christmas break, so I brought my files with me. Well my hard drive crashed, and I couldn't access a single file. I had to send through my working assets peicemeal over a horrible internet connection and compile it remotely. It's pure luck that I didn't run in to any of the regular issues that would have been impossible to fix over the net. Talk about a christmas miracle.
This will probably be the last big project I do before shifting the tone of my content. For the short term at least I'll be doing everything I can to release more modest content more consistently. I've got some interesting things cooking for next year and can't wait to get the ball rolling. I might submit some behind the scenes content to twitter, so if you're interested, you can follow me there.
Be cool to each other an have a great christmas everyone!

-------------------------------- Completed in a day and a half. I started yesterday. My back is killing me. Wish I got started earlier since it's out later than I would have liked, but pretty happy with it.
I don't normally submit my freelance work to youtube, but I'm proud of the work I put in to this one, and thought my subscribers might like to see it.
Amnesty International commissioned me to do this piece for them, which surrounds the struggles of women rights in Zimbabwe and narrated by Nolwandle. I've always been curious to do a documentary animation, so it was a huge pleasure to help out with the cause.
The music was composed by Anton Anisimov, who was a pleasure to work with, and I love the work he did on it.
I hope you guys enjoy it. If you would like to find more information on the cause, or help out, you can follow the link below.
I always find it funny when people on the internet get so angry over things like Bronies, Hipsters, Nickleback etc, so I guess I just wanted to make a cartoon over how strange it is. I didn't want it to be too preachy and sappy, but then I didn't want it to be too aggressive either. I think I've got a good balance, though hopefully I don't just end up pissing everyone off instead: P
---------------------------------------------
This one took quite a bit longer than my Pregnetheus cartoon. The 'rough' style actually took more work than my typical cleaner style oddly enough. I was initially thinking of doing something more in the style of Dark Knight Rises, but just decided to do my own style anyway. I'm happy with how it turned out, though I'm eager to get back to something tidier and simpler.
We hit a creative roadblock in the last few days of production. We couldn't come up with any music to fit the first half. In the end I came across some Star Wars music (the Emperors Theme) and thought "screw it, lets just parody that". So that's how we ended up with a Batman/ My Little Pony / Star Wars crossover parody thing....
Hania worked her butt off on the score for this one. She did about 5 different versions of the first half, which was my fault. I was like "Needs more DUNDUNDUNDUN dun DUHHHH" and then "Can we pull back the "DunDunDun dunnn?" and then "......Maybe we should get rid of the DunDunDunDun...."
Jazza did a fantastic job as usual as Batman. It was my first time working with Josh Tomar (as the voice of the Brony), and he completely nailed it from the get go, I can't wait to work with him again. Special thanks to Sam Green for some useful feedback!
The bulk of production was done in Flash, for character animation. I used a lot of Photoshop for the BG art, and composited in After Effects to add some glows and filters just to soften the look a little.
I've got a couple more ideas for some parody stuff, but we're going to throw in some original stuff soon too just to even it out a bit more.Pregnetheus - [Prometheus Cartoon]James Lee2012-07-03 | ► SUPPORT MY WORK: patreon.com/jamesleeanimation
I saw Prometheus a couple of weeks ago and despite some clunky plot points, I loved how it looked. I haven't really done much parody type stuff, so I thought I'd see what I could do with my own rendition of the cesarean scene. I've been dying to do a medium size animation for a while now, so here's the result of two weeks of work. We wanted to get it out in one, but there were too many issues that extended the deadline. We'll see how we go for the next one.Short and Sweet - A cute AnimationJames Lee2012-02-14 | ► SUPPORT MY WORK: patreon.com/jamesleeanimation

Admittedly, this has been sitting on my hard drive for a long time, so I'm happy to finally have it out.
You'll probably recognise the style of the characters from 24 in 24. They're from a series we have on the backburner called 'Wods' and we've got a whole universe of these characters planned out.
Hania did a great job on the music, as always. Eric Gusky (who also did voices for Tarboy and Make Snacks not War) took care of all the characters' little noises.

Thought I'd separate it out as it's own video. Sorry to all my subscribers who've already seen it! Josiah Brooks did an awesome job for our 24 in 24 animation, and we used some of the left over audio to create this horrible animation.24in24 Twenty Eleven - 24 Short Flash Animations - Animated by James LeeJames Lee2011-12-15 | Here's the compilation video of this year's '24 in 24'.
The basic idea is that we attempt to create 24 animations in 24 hours.
The idea was inspired by 24 hour Comic day, which was started by Scott McCloud. Members of Newgrounds, deviantart and the web helped bring this film together, by providing ideas while we were broadcasting the whole thing live.
This year, we were only able to get 20 finished in the 24 hour time period, and had to do some overtime to complete the final 4 animations. It's a bummer that we couldn't get them all finished in the allocated time, but we're overall happy with the quality this year, even if some of them turned out rather cringe-worthy. Josiah Brooks did the voices for the Toast and Cloud series, and he did a fantastic job. We used some of the left over audio to create other animations such as Gross Nyan Cat. We'll probably do an extended version of Fez Guy at some point.
Purged was completed before I started work on Tarboy, and I figured it was about time I packaged and released it on Newgrounds and Youtube. It was my third year animation project in college and the first larger scale short film I completed. It was also the first project completed that Hania and I collaborated on.
The production of this was an absolute nightmare to say the least. Working on this project was the reason I decided to do Tarboy completely in Flash.
My overall pipeline for animation looked something like this: 1.Draw images on paper. 2. Scan into Photoshop for digital paint. 3. Bring into morphing software for head turns 4. Export into Flash for character animation. 5. Export into Adobe After Effects for compositing. 6. Export into Premier for Editing.
I'm thinking this will receive a mixed response, but at this stage I'm glad it's finally out. Hope you enjoy it, check out the bonus features if you want to learn more about my messy pre-production process :) For Purged, I wanted to create something experimental, which revolved around the concepts of heaven, purgatory and hell. I created this while my art was going through a more gothic stage.24 Animations in 24 Hours - Short animated Flash films all created in one dayJames Lee2010-09-12 | ► SUPPORT MY WORK patreon.com/jamesleeanimation ► Instagram: instagram.com/jamesleeanimation ► Twitter: twitter.com/JamesLee03

I animated everything in Flash, using some textures which were edited in Photoshop. The idea was inspired by Scott Mccloud's 24 hour comic.
The song 'Popstar' was written and performed by Hania Lee. Animation by James Lee. Made from the Aniboom Eyedoll competition.
******** LYRICS********* So you wanna be a popstar Do you have what you will need A set of big bazookas and an ass no one can see No voice required No brains nor style, If you are smart, stardom may take a while...
You're a doll. A puppet with strings. If they say 'fly' you better get yourself some wings. Literally. Do you even know what literally means? (of course you don't) You're a pop star to be - a pop star to be... SO you wanna become famous? Put your face on TV? Well first you have to pay a writer, Then learn how to groove - hang on - Don't groove, Just stick your ass out and move (hopefully to the beat) And then smile that perfect smile - Made by computers.
You are now a popstar No effort involved! Fireworks! Stage Performers! And now behold your fans People just like you Sucked in by your boobs ... Oh how cool! You're a Popstar... You're a Popstar...

Tarboy is an epic animated short film about explosions and fighting robots. It was completed in 2007 as part of my honours study at the Griffith Film School, and released online in 2009. It was my second real film, after completing Purged the year before. 2D Animation was entirely in Adobe Flash (now animate). A sequel was in production, but I'm no longer actively working on it.
A lot of you are asking about Tarboy 2. I made a statement on my facebook page detailing the situation. Here it is below:
-------------------------------------
Just commenting to say that I know a tonne of you are waiting for Tarboy 2. It's not my intention to string anyone along and milk your patience by posting Tarboy related art like this. I've kept quiet for good reason, but I'm planning to release a video at some point this year explaining the situation with the project along with some video from two Tarboy projects that never made it.
Just to pre-empt any speculation on what went wrong, there was a serious Tarboy game project in the works with an overseas development team, a well known game designer and a major party’s involvement. (TO avoid any confusion, NOT the game I am currently working on with Jay Watts). Part way through the project, the developer had broken a critical agreement, and hadn’t delivered to what I felt was a passable standard.
At this stage, contractors were in dispute with the developer over pay, and the game designer had left, having not received his first cheque. I had already spent close to a year building a trailer for pitch materials, as well as the assets for the first level and much of the character animation. The developer did not accept my wish to terminate the project, and I spent many more months digging myself out of the legal hole to get the game rights back. It was an exhausting time.
Shortly after this, I began work on Tarboy 2, but I was burning out. I completed the first main sequence, but didn’t feel the quality was up to scratch, so I pulled the plug.
I'm not working on anything Tarboy related currently, and I can't realistically see myself getting back to it anytime in the short to medium term. I'm more interested in doing smaller stuff like this, and see where it takes me. Honestly, working on anything Tarboy related is a bit of a mindf**k, juggling my own expectations on it, while knowing that the most dedicated of you have been waiting years. This isn't to crap on anyone who's asked about Tarboy 2, I did promise you guys a sequel. But I need to detach Tarboy from all this bad history, and moving forward, I can’t have this promise lingering at the back of my head any time I post something to the public. Hopefully this post will unglue some creative blockages and take some weight out of it all. I can't give any more details at the moment, hopefully you all understand! Thanks for sticking around!
