I first found his remix of '3am', which blew me away...the intense, raw burst of emotion in his drop pulls me in every single time I listen. In the past year he really drew me in further with his releases; 'Voices', 'Seeing Colour', 'Wasting Away', and ofc 'Medulla'. Metal influenced vocals with dark melodic electronic productions are rare to come by, let alone to be executed in a creatively brilliant way, which is why I'm such a huge fan of his work. Barren Gates - Left For Dead (Official Video) Barren Gates 2020-11-12 | This is the third release from my upcoming 6-track (+2 bonus edits) EP 'Dethroned'. This one unfolded very quickly as my intentions were initially set to write something that could be used as a fierce cinematic video game soundtrack, which tends to be a style of music I don't overthink as I write. I was getting into Apex Legends a lot at the time and admired their captivating trailers for each new season and how extremely well their music paired with them. I'm sure it's fairly clear that most of my music has a video game soundtrack appeal to it as I grew up heavily into gaming, primarily playing Halo. So for this one, the atmosphere was the first element I sought to forge. I attempted to capture the emotions behind entering an ominous fight for survival, fusing the adrenaline from staring death in the face with the delicate brilliance of a sophisticatedly god-like confidence, simply knowing that you're about to fuck everyone up no matter what challenge awaits. For the first 4 to 5 months of the quarantine I found myself having a very difficult time writing new music, my expectations for myself were becoming drastically high and my confidence continued to fade. I previously dove heavily into advancing my sound design knowledge so it felt weird that that I couldn't execute anything new successfully. One particularly annoying voice in my head started berating me with the idea that I was beginning to burn out. This lit a fuse in me. I only hope that my music brings motivation & inspiration for others and can help lead them out of their own darkness🖤I feel extremely lucky to have linked up with Nicole, her voice is angelic & I love how emotionally rich & brilliant her writing is. The Melody of Yours Fears originated as an idea that Nicole wrote and sent me a recording of her playing the guitar while singing. This draft recording felt so raw and divinely executed, it immediately formed a deep connection in me and inspired a heavy emotional release that I felt had been restrained for too long.
