The rotation on radar was weak, and as of this writing there have been no official tornado reports, but it did prompt a quick jump out of bed and onto my front porch for a classic pre-dawn front porch chase! Lightning Strike Knocking Out Security Camera, Queens NY 07.26.2021 Scott McPartland - Extreme Weather Photography 2021-07-27 | Strong thunderstorms moved in from the north during the early morning hours of July 26th, 2021 bringing with them intense cloud to ground lightning over the Queens, NY area. One lightning strike hit very close to my residence shortly after 2am local time, knocking out my front porch camera. I don't believe lightning hit the house itself, but it hit close enough to affect the camera. Perhaps a nearby utility or light pole. My interior camera (not shown in this video for privacy reasons) also showed an electrical glitch at the time of the strike, but it remained up and running.
