👨 About Me 👨
Hi, I’m Zoran, I have more than 20 years of experience as a software developer, architect, team lead, and more. I have been programming in C# since its inception in the early 2000s. Since 2017 I have started publishing professional video courses at Pluralsight and Udemy and by this point, there are over 100 hours of the highest-quality videos you can watch on those platforms. On my YouTube channel, you can find shorter video forms focused on clarifying practical issues in coding, design, and architecture of .NET applications.❤️

You'll see where Result shines, where it falls short. Needless to say, the functional programming offers the solution to the Result type's shortcomings. But we need to understand the Result type first before stepping up.

In this video, we break down a seemingly simple object-oriented interface and rebuild it with a functional twist. That will reveal hidden pitfalls in traditional OOP, highlight the power of immutability, and show you how to transform apparently functional interfaces into functional types that gracefully evolve with your application.

This video demonstrates the use of the keyed services feature in ASP.NET Core dependency injection. The keyed services were introduced in .NET 8 and C# 12. They let you inject different implementations of the same service interface based on the context and the class that receives the dependency.
However powerful, this technique won't work the same in all settings. Nor will it solve all your problems. This video explains the role of the keyed services and presents it as only one of the tools on your DI toolbelt.
So I say: Know thy tools, and they will serve you.

Delve into the proper way to manage serialization in C# in an example minimal API application. You will learn how the best place to define serialization is the code that consumes the model - an endpoint in the example of a Web application. Not only does the caller specify the JSON output, but there can be many different JSON formats for the same domain object when used in different callers.
By the end of this video, you will understand the importance of separating serialization logic from domain models and how to implement this strategy effectively using strong types in C#.

Witness firsthand how introducing polymorphic methods into a previously anemic domain model can drastically reduce code complexity, turning a convoluted 20-line method into a clean, single expression.
Does that sound like magic? Then, let it be! In this demonstration, we shall implement the same feature twice: Once before, and then again after introducing a single virtual method.
You will learn how a well-placed abstraction, no matter how simple it is, can lead to removing a ton of previous code.

In this video, we dive deep into the issues caused by data clumps. Data clumps are the signature code smell in anemic domain models. So, in this video, we dive into some of the pitfalls of anemic domain models and show how to refactor tangled code by eliminating data clumps.
Watch as we transform a messy class with an inflated services layer into a clean, maintainable model using techniques like Extract Class refactoring and static factory methods.

Have you ever wondered if it's possible to write simple code in complex projects? In this video, we dive deep into what makes code "simple" or "complex" and explore the delicate balance of adding clarity to large-scale projects without getting lost in endless lines of code.
You will discover how code design impacts development speed and scalability, why more types might actually lead to simpler code, and why fewer types don't always mean less complexity. There will be some practical tips to keep your code organized, maintainable, and easy to understand.
Are you ready to transform how you think about writing code? Watch now and start rethinking "simplicity" in programming!

This video reveals the often-overlooked issues that arise when using an anemic domain model in software development. While at first glance, an anemic model—a model where domain objects lack behavior and contain only data—might seem straightforward, it can lead to significant complications that hamper scalability, maintainability, and expressiveness in your codebase.
Throughout the video, we demonstrate how using an anemic domain model leads to long argument lists, extensive validation blocks, and a combinatorial explosion of methods. We illustrate how primitive obsession and data clumps diminish code expressiveness and increase complexity. While this video will not teach you how to develop a proper object-oriented model, it remains a valuable starting point in understanding the motives for relying on a more expressive modeling method, such as object-oriented or functional design.

Anemic domain models might be the culprit, stripping away everything object-oriented programming has to offer.
In this video, I dive deep into how primitive obsession leads to fat service layers and a bloated codebase. Learn how to avoid these pitfalls, embrace rich domain models, and unlock the full potential of OOP.
Don't let outdated practices hold you back. Don't write code like it's 1988!

URLs play a vital part in SEO. It is, therefore, not advisable to place IDs in public URLs. We usually place so-called slugs - convenient character strings that mirror the information the URL is advertising: the name of the person, the title of an article, etc.
But have you ever generated those slugs from the data? This video gives a creative take on the problem of generating SEO-compatible URLs from actual domain objects.

Ever since record types saw the light of day in C#, the question was: Can we persist records with EF Core? And the grim answer was always: No. Entity Framework tracks entities, and records are no entities.
EF Core 8 changed that picture with its new feature: complex types. You can now use a record the way you always wanted - as an immutable part of a larger object - and persist it the way you always felt right - as a set of columns in that larger object's table.
And there is more. Watch the video to learn all the angles of applying record types in a model persisted using EF Core.
