At first we believed this to be a Cirrate Octopus, but now we believe it to be a Vampire Squid/Umbrella Squid. Its limbs were covered with thousands of sharp, curved teeth and it preferred to float around in an umbrella-like posture. Magnapinna BigFin Squid Attacking | Deep Ocean ROV Footage TahoeDeep 2023-02-08 | This video was taken by my coworker via a work class ROV in the deep ocean. The video shows a Magnapinna (big fin, nightmare squid) using its arms in a way that has not been seen before. As i write this i believe there are 9 videos of the squid released to the public. Scientists can only speculate how they hunt their prey. Currently it is believed that the squid drags it's arms along the bottom of the ocean. I think this video displays that the squid can use some type of elasticity to shoot its arms out to catch prey.
