P90 is ready! (or not…?) Ok, maybe not fully ready buuuut... Here's what I got right now :P

I had the vision!! I swear… I geniunely really liked the direction the video was going, flashy gaudy and kinda cute like P90 herself. Going my classic route show off gun, do some pew pew, got ambitious near the end. So why didn’t finish it? It was just extremely difficult near the end, my scene got very heavy with my idea of trying to make her clones/holograms with different personalities. So near the end of the full timeline (which was literally just the last quarter) I was animating at barely stable 13fps, less than half of 30fps…. Importing models from KK isn't bad but the models errr… aren't so optmized for that or for rigify fully, especially IK rigs apparently. My only temprorary workaround was making proxies for some models but didn’t help much later on.

So now what? Well… this might be in indefinite hiatus. But now that I’m in college, I want to try and remake it better, and if I can, remake all the models, even if it isn’t hi-fi. Ambitious but, this program is litreally what I’ve been aiming for :D

Now.. Life update? I’m back in college! And my program is quite literally 3D animation!! It’s been 3 weeks, kindva a lotta work, but work I actually enjoy- or is it work anymore? I’m still working at another job cuz I need to… BUT yeah. I feel like I’m finally doing something with my life again

It’s been almost 4 years, can you guys believe it? I may not be active posting on yt, but I always come back and look at all your comments, old n new. The support has gone, and continues to go a loooong way. Thank you guys for everything, and for of course, sticking around :)

So what's been going on? I have been... doing life stuff I guess. killer procrastination. You win some, you lose some. You'd think I'd have a little more free time since I'm part time but I guess getting older entails more responsibilities and other crap... BUT that doesn't mean I don't love what I do still. I've been making a lot of music over the year because I found that I really love doing that as well- I might've mentioned that before. And it's fairly quicker and an easier workflow to get ideas going. at least in my own experience. But animation will still be my main path! Even if... i go on and off on one project for nearly a year ^^'

P90? Where is she?! She's still alive, still being worked on, I'm on the final stages (I know I say that way too much) but, I'm at the final part with a pretty ambitious idea which CAN work. But I've been at a very frustrating halt and major slow down from how slow my blender runs the project. rigify rigs and MMD/VRM models do not go well when you multiply them. but I want to finish it still, and I really love the direction it went through. I've just been going on and off because of how ambitious I got with it; It's been frustrating and overwhelming. BUT still, I WILL finish it!

Alright so wtf am I doing?! I gave up on trying to do fx and cutout things in davinci, I'm just straight up doing everything in blender,. or most things at least. the overlays, the text, all of it is done in blender. except for the post processing stuff like the fisheye lense, prism aberration etc., but all in all, it's taking me longer cuz I kinda wanna do a lot with this. I plan on making her hologram skill which I'll probs do after the normal reload. how? we'll see LOL. The UI stuff honestly is a mixed inspo of cyberpunk 2077 and Neon Genisis Evangelion, now mostly 2077 cuz I just finished my first playthrough not too long ago. Tho I'm enjoying the groove so far!! I really wanna keep workin on this one and hope to God work don't make me all poopy up in the brain

Life stuff, busy with work, lots of things happening this month too. I'm also gonna finally drive cuz 2h avg commutes make me wanna kms. But yeah, I just wish I had more time to work on stuff, working feels like my soul is being sucked out of me regardless of where I go (for now), lowkey wanna go back to school asap :-;

So some process work... well I'm starting to get the hang of the NLA editor better. I also tried a different workflow, at least for the ED parody bit; blocking. I tried blocking for a whole character and honestly I got a lot done much quicker than I thought I would. so for more dynamic scenes, I think I'll definitely try that. I was thinking about making the music myself but I was like nah, I'll work on my music shi a little more first lol. I also tried more video editing... it's a bit scuffed but hey it isn't as bad as I imagined, it's not what I wanted but isa better start. Cuz I went through the effort of exporting multiple angles in IMG sequences so I can keep the transparency when I import into Dacinvi. Now that's another thing to tackle but I think I'll skip for now, if anything I'll try to get familiar with blender's VES.

Process process process... Well I tried to make an audio visualizer in blender, which I did, for like 3 hours and got the same poopy results because I'm stupid lmao. I ultimately just did all the video editing in Davinci Resolve. Their keyframe and graph editing could use some work, honestly it's so finicky or it's just the free version, but it was somewhat good practice trying to make an alternate workflow... but I think I'll try and make another audio visualizer next time... or maybe even a music video LOL

What does this mean?! Well, I'm still gonna do 3D stuff, art, animation in general, but I'm exploring more. I'm not gonna lie, I've been having a lot of fun with this and making music in general. I'm finding that same passion and excitement I once found with blender! But this isn't to say I'm dropping the animations for good! I'll still be working on animations and art in general. I mean... Music is art too lol

Also... 2k!!! Holy shit you guys are awesome. It's been almost 3 years now? New and old faces, the support and encouragement is something I'll never forget. It's what gave me something to live for even if it isn't a finite purpose, but doing what I love and people even now watching me grow expand to other things like music is incredible. Ronin Rei 90 2024-02-02 | One of those late nights where I just do a random idea because I can't sleep. This is one of those things... also should I put a spoiler warning?

I wanted to make her face more expressive, I think the VFX makes it a bit harder to see, but I used the the meat ball mesh thing to make the tears. Then made a bit of a "water" looking texture. I was originally gonna keep it just the raw render but I was like fk it, I'll edit it. And the TV screen thing is inspired by signals, i was gonna try and do one of those filler screens like in signalis "VIOLENT SCENE MISSING", but i was like ehh, if I put more effort into the animation itself, maybe.

TL;DR, was practicing sad expressions, did extra editing but also wish I put a little more effort into it altogether

Alright so for this one, I tried to get her feel/in character so I tried to exaggerate some movements. Overall it was kinda fun working with it but god damn it was tedious, still came out somewhat fine. Did a bit of experimenting and used the NLA editor more, getting much more used to it now so the main workflow is a bit smoother. I'm starting to realize how impractical these MMD rigs are lmao

anyways... yeah, next? Not rlly sure, life's gotten busier, but this is the only time I'll accept it since it's actually something that's helping me. Gotta start my portfolio n shit soon too, still wanna learn music aghhh, I wish I wasn't so bedridden. Winter is literally just survival for me. Bittersweet, the fond memories, but harsh ordeals

Finished the first part aside from the running (doesn't show here but it's part of the intro half)! Happy late new year!! I wanted to post something different for new years but that week was just so busy I couldn't finish it.. so i finally picked up the Anis animation. Then Alice... then Neon cuz she literally uses a DP12 and that's pretty neato. I'm also going to do another UMP45 thing again, maybe duo with UMP9 but we'll see! I wish my motivation would stay with me... at least the passion is still strong

On the side note, how's life? Well, I've noticed a pattern the last 3 years where I feel very poopy and dead during mid-late winter. So gloomy, dark, whatever. It's a bit stagnant right now. not sure what else to say or do, but fuck it we ball B)

I've never been so excited and wanting to try to learn something new since I learned how to use Blender (still am) and that feeling is VERY rare for me. Not to say I'm disregarding my animations anymore, but I think this is something I genuinely want to try out and hopefully will be able to do with my own animations. I remember a comment from the music i posted the other time saying I can use the song in an espionage/infiltration scene vid and honestly so true, and who knows, maybe I'll make a vid with both the animation and music done by me (if only I can model too sadge) but yeah that's pretty much it

Merry (late) Christmas! The usual, not dead! Anyways, this was a nice thing to get back into. I haven't done an MG in a while, well... haven't worked on much of my personal projects in a while but I at least got this finished! Not much to say here other than I think I'm starting to get how rig the chain round things.

Ok so update on other things. I might just redo UMP45 and 9 thing completely (animation I mean) but yeah. So the COD BO1 GFL mod is almost almost done! so check out Loyalists for some more updates on it. I'll probs post a vid of the stuff I animated n all. Was a pretty fun project, ppl were really nice too, hopefully I can do some more stuff like that in the future

The rain for whatever reason kept going thru the plane even tho I set it as a collider, so it's meh. But anyways, this kindva nother experiment. What I wanted to do was really try to express their emotions n stuff more. Basically tried to make an emotional kinda scene... definitely made me feel the feels lol.

I uh... have another fooni shitpost I'll prolly animate, but I wanna get the 45 n 9 practice done first. (the smoke sims lowkey drained my inital motiviation :c) I also start work soon so uploads will probs be even more inconsistent and spread out.. unless I have those sudden urges to animate something like that one M16 lmao

I'm still p ass at doing smoke sims, like... I had to make a way to blend it with the sim so it doesn't just magically appear out of nowhere. It's either that or I do the videogame way and use particle systems to make smoke to fake it. I might do that for later vids, but I wanna try n keep it for this one

As for the actual animating part, making walk cycles isn't too too bad, but when I actually move them from point A to B.. it looks kinda offset for some reason (lowkey why the camera is mostly focused on the upper body so u don't see the full body all weird n shit lol)

Gonna use the smoke once in the next thing I'm making cuz holy shit is it hard to get the smoke down right, still looks kinda bad imo. Hopefully it doesn't look terrible when I actually do it for the real scene. I'll use it in the beginning where I plan to make 45 & 9 do a sort of breaching kinda thing since yknow.... 45's skill is a smoke and 9's is a flashbang. I still gotta make the scene so I think I'll start working on another bootleg gfl training sim thing

Had a bit o fun makin this one. With the little cutscene and everything, I couldn't think of anything else to do for an evasion skill so I did that and made the empty reload a little faster... kinda. I also got this p neat trails addon whcih you see for the empty reload. I also made the TMP model with VRoid, and actually modelled some the parts instead of making poorly drawn textures (which I still did for the hands/gloves part)

Ronin Rei 90 2021-08-30 | Finally, done! I think it turned out ok

No fp this time, kinda. Just a little scene thingy. I would have tried an actual smoke sim and better muzzle flash but I was kinda running outta time(goin on vacation for like a week and I'm leaving in like 2 days so yeah, some parts might've felt a bit rushed so mb :c). Constraints are still wonky, but I found a tedious workaround until I really get them proper. Also took a little longer cuz I made the G11K2 myself. I still haven't been able to bake textures other than the AO and and that's it unfortunately. So I stuck with procedural textures in blender itself.. again

Next, I'll do UMP 45 & 9 in one vid so yeah

Finally got a smoke(ish) effect working. I was trying to do a heat distortion effect for the gun n stuff.. but so far no luck. I think I'll have to re rig the thing again cuz the gun is a bit too big and well if I just resize the gun, I think it'll cause more constraint problems down the road
