The Magnet of Love, performed by Josh Smith The Official Oz Club 2022-02-15 | L. Frank Baum's 1913 musical extravaganza "The Tik Tok Man of Oz" debuted at the Majestic Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 31, 1913. The show soon moved to San Francisco before staging a successful summer run in Chicago. It continued for five months on the road throughout the American west and midwest with additional stops in Canada. Musical numbers for the show included this one, "The Magnet of Love," with lyrics by Frank Baum and music by Louis Gottschalk. Josh Smith performs it here as a special presentation for the International Wizard of Oz Club. The Club organizes occasional online themed events for Oz fans, and The Magnet of Love, a device that first appeared in Baum's book The Road to Oz, was the theme of the 2022 virtual Valentine's party.
