In this video, I break down four steps that I did to learn the tones when learning both Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese3 reasons why you should (not) learn Hanzi/Kanji - Reaction VideoLuke Truman 樂爾文2021-10-22 | This is a reaction video to a video on why Japanese learners should not learn Kanji.
I think overall she makes a lot of good points and encouraging people to go out and engage with the language is a massive plus compared to traditional methods of learning. However, as she is a native Japanese speaker, I feel like she doesn't fully appreciate being in the position of trying to learn a language you are illiterate in, and has a few misconceptions on how long it actually takes to learn Kanji.
This video is entirely meant for educational purposes, if you are interested in learning Japanese please support the original creator.

Watching the video back makes me realize how bad I connect sounds together sometimes, and also how bad my Cantonese pronunciation comes out when I say the word 時候 shi2 hou4, so I will try and work on that going forward.
Things I forgot to mention in the video is that one thing I struggle with is hearing the tones clearly during fast paced speech so this is also another thing that I want to work on going forward.
Also one other thing I forgot to mention is I want to get more into the Chinese historical dramas 古裝劇, and before I have had some problems understanding as the language they tend to use is a bit different. So if you have any recommendations for that please let me know, especially ones on Netflix as it is much easier for me to look up new words.
Watching this video back I can see a lot of mistakes and things I need to improve in both Chinese and activism, so if anyone has any constructive feedback please let me know. Thank you for watching, links below:
