Make Your Own Battlemats for Wargaming Terrain, DnD and Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-01-29 | This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial I show you how to make a larger and more detailed battlemat for your wargaming or dnd tabletop games. The process this time is slightly changed, to make the process slightly cheaper, and also involves adding in much more detail to our battlemat. The materials required for this process are very similar to the original battle mat I did youtu.be/E5W4FKqRbSs , with the exception of this one not requiring alcohol to mix up the acrylic gap filler mix. I make this battlemat at 3 feet x 3 feet this time, and get it all sorted over 2 days, making this a quick and easy project to complete. No specific tools are required, other than a spreader to lay out the acrylic mix to the canvas drop sheet. Hopefully this explains some of the issues I'm having with releasing content, and with life in general. I don't mean to cry about my problems every time I get on here, but there are times where I need to let some of this out I think, and I can't afford a professional. I also feel that given the support I have gotten from this community, you all deserve to know where I'm at.I think we all hoped for a fairytale comeback story here, and I've really been trying to make that happen, but I'm not sure it's meant to be. I feel like I've just been struggling to get off my knees here for ages, but I'm hitting dead ends a fair bit. I'm going to keep going, and looking for the opportunities, but I feel like I need to focus on solving at least some of these problems as my main priority for a little while. Life After Death Hasnt Been Fun, But Im Still Going! RFDHobby 2023-12-05 | So after a few challenges over the past 2 years, I've finally taken a step in a direction I chose haha. In 2021 I had a massive heart attack, commonly known as a Widow maker. The heart stopped for just over a minute, and I was revived and given some upgrades at the hospital. This was followed by a family seperation and a house fire, and most recently my best friend of 30 years passed away from Cancer. So I've been struggling.Needless to say, this has taken a bit of a toll on every aspect of my life. But it hasn't quite stopped me yet. I hope this is a step in the right direction. This RC car is available Ready To Run (less batteries), and for a great scale looking vehicle I am very impressed with the value.There are a variety of body styles for this Kyosho Radio Control Car, but I couldn't pass up on the 10th scale Nissan Skyline GT-R 2000. The body is decked out with quality details and parts, and the vehicle itself has tons of power with the 14T 550 Brushed motor.This is a perfect radio control car for a beginner, or also a great shelf queen to proudly display on the shelf. Saving my Wargaming Terrain - The Final Clean up RFDHobby 2023-07-04 | In this video I finally clean up the terrain left over from the house fire in November. I wasn't able to save everything, but what I have saved, and what you will see in the video, has survived the fire and cleaning process well enough to keep.The cleaning took some time, and I will still need to coat some of the pieces, but as you will see, these projects all seemed to be salvagable. I avoided this for ages, as I was sure there would be little satisfaction in playing around with all this stuff, but I'm absolutely stoked at the outcome here. RESIN PRINTED 10th Scale RC Tow Truck - Build and Painting Explained RFDHobby 2023-06-27 | In this video I show you a recent 3d print I completed of this 1/10th scale Radio Controlled Tow Truck. I printed this on the @ElegooOfficial Saturn 8k Printer with Sunlu Standard Resin. The main body of the truck was a 3d design I purchased (link below), with all other additions being either free stl files (such as the mirrors), or scratch built, such as the tow truck bed and mechanism.Although this video is not a complete build video, I do cover how I put this together, and what materials I used to complete the build as you see it so far. Workbench Update its a mess + My Old Wargaming Terrain RFDHobby 2023-06-14 | I wanted to show you all what was worth getting out of the old house as far as my old wargaming terrain and tools go. Overall in the house, these bits and pieces make up most of what was taken out of the house, from everywhere, the rest is rubbish unfortunately. Given my studio was furthest from the fire, these bits and pieces you see are nearly everything I've been able to recover from the house, aside from the board games and stuff I showed in an earlier video.Things here are still tough, feels like I'm still trying to catch up on and deal with so much big stuff. This is why I haven't been able to film as much, I am still struggling to even craft/hobby in anyway most days. House & Studio destroyed by fire. Walkthrough of remains after house fire. RFDHobby 2022-12-07 | I'm not sure there's much more to see than this, so I really don't know that I'll visit the house again here. This walkthrough video of the housefire gives a clearer view of the scale of this awful situation. I want to thank everyone that has viewed my recent videos and sent supportive messages, it means a lot to all of us. I want to maintain a hobby channel, because the community as well as the process brings me a lot of joy. So I have tried to keep my videos light, and steered towards that where I can, and hopefully this will be the last time we actually go here on the channel. We also shouldn't ignore the impacts outside of myself and my hobbies, this was a family home, and my story on the channel here is only a small part of our lives right now. We still have many challenges right now, and in front of us, so the messages and support will be lasting. Making videos has always been something I did for enjoyment, a way to expand on something I already enjoyed doing, painting and making stuff. I hope that I can continue to share that part of my life with you on this channel into the future.Thank you again sincerely for your kindness and support.I appreciate the comments and suggestions regarding recovering and cleaning items. At this stage there is quite a lot that looks recoverable, but will likely not be. Some of the materials I use, and the objects you see do not lend themselves to cleaning, among other issues. Taking into account I'm currently set up in a shed, I don't mind having a few small items around (such as the board games and a couple of small boxes of miniatures), but I won't be taking them into a house where I have children around. I may end up feeling like working on some of those old miniatures one day, but for now I'll store them away until that happens, or I find a better home. What was worth recovering in the remains of the workshop after the house fire RFDHobby 2022-11-29 | This is meant to be just a slice of our lives right now, more specifically my life and my workshop/hobby areas, and what I was able to find in what was left there. My workspace and storage room were there furthest rooms from the fire, so what you see there in the original video is the only place worth looking for something to salvage in our home. This video just focuses on that space. There is so much more lost, the lifetimes possessions of 3 people, I can't even begin to put it into words or get my head around it yet. But I won't be going into the big picture in this video. I'm not trying to rush anything here, and some things I just can't talk about yet. But I wanted to share with you what I was able to find and recover in that room, as it was quite a surprise. Turns out there was a little bit of stuff stored in boxes, that were inside other boxes, and I was able to recover some of that stuff. When I finally had time to look it over it felt really good to see what I recovered on the table, I felt the need to talk it out. So making this video was somewhat therapeutic for me I think. Thank you for watching.While things are not great at the moment, and there are many other things on my mind, there is still much to be grateful for, even small wins like this. I wanted to share that in this video, more than talk about the losses (although there are still some things you'll see towards the end that I don't think I can save). Quick Miniature Stone Statues for Wargaming Terrain - Painting a Simple Stone Effect RFDHobby 2022-03-23 | This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial is about getting a quick table ready stone look on your miniatures. I've tried to make this simple and easy to achieve to relatively effective result. I just use a couple of grey tones, white and brown, and a very basic dark wash for the base. With the simple moss effect made with PVA glue and flocking, we end up with a really cool looking stone statue for the table. I'm sure there's many ways to improve on this process, and I'd love to hear them in the comments below, but I did want to share my simple process to get a quick result.The miniatures came to me from @ZITERDES Tabletop Terrain , who make some really amazing terrain pieces that I've been working with recently. Converting Pre-Made Wargaming Terrain - Ziterdes Foam Terrain Reimagined RFDHobby 2022-02-22 | This weeks Wargaming Terrain Tutorial focuses on my first piece of Ziterdes foam terrain. This stuff was fantastic to play with, and I have a stack more I will be working on to complete a table setup throughout this year. I had no idea MDF terrain could be this detailed and well done, and honestly so much fun to put together. Miniature Rocky Hills for Wargaming Terrain and Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-08-12 | This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial covers a fairly fundamental terrain build, up there with ruined corner buildings haha. This one is for some simple rocky hill terrain built up using layers of foam and simple rocks and sand to texture. In the video I do use the tools and materials in @TheArmyPainter GameMaster terrain kit set, however you should be able to follow this tutorial with a variety of tools or materials to achieve a similar result. Miniature Modular Sci-fi Terrain for Star Wars Legion - Warhammer 40k - Wargaming - Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-05-10 | This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial goes through how to fairly simply make up some modular sci-fi terrain using only 4 materials. This build project was a bit of a prototype for some more sci-fi/star wars terrain pieces, I want to try, so I tried to keep it fairly basic. I used foam board, thin EVA foam sheet, sprue bits, and a few magnets to make it modular (the magnets and modular part is totally optional though). It wasn't exactly meant as a how to video so much as a test build originally, but I wanted to film it and see what we could do with it, and I 'm really happy I did. It turned out to be heaps of fun to work it all out, and an enjoyable video to do all round. I hope you find something within helpful with your own terrain projects.I'm sorry this one took so long to release, I hope to have things back to normal now. Miniature Brick Walls for Wargaming Terrain and Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-04-12 | This weeks wargaming terrain tutorial I cover how to make some simple brick walls for your tabletop games. The main construction of these is simple foam board with a cereal box cardboard base, and then finished with whatever details you have laying around to add. We will even use up most of the scraps from our foam board construction, to fill out some of the rubble and ground cover. Look out for my mistakes in this one, hopefully I've pointed them out well enough to avoid them yourself :) . Better Miniature Sandbags for Wargaming Terrain and Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-03-21 | A quick tutorial this week showing how to take the original sandbags I made a while back, up to the next level with a few simple details. These sandbags add heaps of detail to the wargaming table, as either a single piece of terrain, or as bits of scatter added to existing terrain builds.I use a basic air drying clay rolled out on a piece of canvas, (to help add texture), and then cut with an old craft knife. Left overnight to dry, these sandbags are really easy to incorporate into most projects that benefit from the sci-fi / modern wargaming theme. I also go over a quick paint scheme for these as well using @TheArmyPainter paints through the airbrush. Ruined Car Post Apocalyptic Wargaming Scatter Terrain for Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2021-03-05 | In this weeks wargaming terrain tutorial I continue with the post-apocalyptic terrain theme with this awesome piece of scatter terrain. Using some really basic materials to construct the base, and a really cheap die-cast vehicle, we make an awesome piece of scatter terrain that you can whip up fairly quickly. The base materials should be really easy to find, and weathering up the vehicle was also very easy to do, and I'm sure with a bit more time spent, could be made to look even better. Miniature Wasteland Scatter Terrain for Wargaming or Tabletop Games. RFDHobby 2021-01-22 | This tutorial video shows how to make some simple hills and cliffs to be used for wargaming terrain or tabletop games. I made these as wasteland or desert terrain pieces, but as you will see in the video, you can easily change a few simple colors or details to make these fit whatever table setting you're using for your wargames.I use a very simple and cheap hotwire foam cutter purchased from Amazon to cut the foam to create the cliffs, and fill out some of the volume of the hills. You could also create a very similar effect for these with a knife if required. Tin foil works great to also fill out some of the bulk of the hills, which reduces drying time for the homemade sculptamold I use for the final shape.The homemade scultpamold is simple blended tissue paper mixed with plaster of paris. The mix is roughly 50/50, and then mixed with water to a pasty mix. Once dried you can then base with a black paint/PVA glue/Water mix to coat the plaster entirely, to prevent any white showing through, and finally painting with a base coat to somewhat match your final color for your hills.For the wasteland look on these hills, I use a mix of playground sand, and Brown Battleground mix from @TheArmyPainter to get a really cool final texture. This is mixed with a small amount of dry pigment to adjust the color of the sand to the required color. Miniature Desert Buildings and Ruins - Quick and Easy Wargaming Terrain for Tabletop Games RFDHobby 2020-12-31 | We're finally back to some good old fashioned wargaming terrain tutorials now. This week I use up some offcuts and foam scraps from previous builds and put together some really simple desert buildings and ruins for our wargaming terrain table. These turned out to be a very simple build, and so I ended up making a few of these for the video, and the table.
