That's not an anxiety disorder or OCD or a problem with intrusive thoughts. Everything is working perfectly normal! Judging brain stuff causes feelings like that. We can also not practice that unhelpful judging in our heads if we don't like the outcome of that practice.

Then I didn't know how to be happy! For my entire life, I just saw happiness as fixing brain stuff I hated. There was a lot of pressure to go back to the old habits because I didn't know how to be happy without them. Then we approach those feelings as a contamination and tell ourselves it shouldn't be there and we need to avoid it or clean it. But that avoiding and cleaning of emotions will only create more problems! It's much healthier and you'll be much more successful on dating adventures if you can have any human emotion while you do human things!

If you're measuring success by getting rid of a theme, that's only going to encourage your brain to change topics and give you more to check on and control so you can get more of that high from cleaning your mind. Instead, it helps to look at cutting out patterns of behavior, across any topic of brain stuff. The topic of the intrusive thoughts is just a variable the brain throws up because you'll react to it. Cut out those reactions and judgments, and then it can't push you around.
#ocd #pureo #intrusivethoughts #psychologyIs your brain wrong?Mark Freeman2023-05-13 | When you're working on recovery from mental illness, it can be helpful to accept fears and anxieties and intrusive thoughts and everything else your brain can throw up. Also, it'll be useful to recognize that how the brain perceives experiences inside and outside of us can just be wrong.

It's not the stuff coming up in the brain. That stuff is just there. But we turn it into an intruder. We can also allow that stuff to be there and not judge it as an intruder.
#recovery #pureo #ocd #psychologyBrain Tech Support Live - May 7, 2023Mark Freeman2023-05-08 | ...Physical pain after ignoring OCD thoughts?Mark Freeman2023-05-05 | If you want to work on recovery from OCD, it can really help to shift the focus to compulsions instead of judging and labeling thoughts. There aren't "OCD thoughts". There are just some thoughts we do compulsions around because we don't like those thoughts. But in the brain's hunt for compulsions, it has no problem switching between uncomfortable experiences you'll try to check and control. So if you start cutting out compulsions around uncomfortable experiences in your mind, it's very common people notice the brain switches to checking and controlling uncomfortable physical experiences. That's why we focus on patterns of behavior around uncomfortable experiences in general, not just around specific OCD themes.Grief about mental illness lost timeMark Freeman2023-05-02 | After we learn how to care for our mental health and fitness, the brain can sometimes get us into doing compulsions around the past, like it's this contaminated thing we need to scrub with soapy regret. But we can celebrate that awareness. Now we have a chance in this minute to apply our skills and take ourselves in a new direction.A question for any moment...Mark Freeman2023-04-29 | It can help to approach mental health as a practice, inside and outside of our heads.
