Paul and Linda McCartney wrote the epic song. George Martin wrote the epic score. And nobody cuts and runs on Sheriff J.W. Pepper.

Hubai’s doctoral thesis was on the rejected film scores of composers outside the Hollywood system, focusing on the work of George Antheil, Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Schoenberg, and Alexandre Tansman. Born in 1909, Leith Stevens wrote numerous film scores, including some of the very first to utilise jazz. He gave student lectures on film music, was president of the Composers and Lyricists Guild of America, and started an electronic scoring facility at Paramount in 1969.
When Worlds Collide and The War of the Worlds were precursors to the disaster movie genre.
Their portrayal of cataclysmic events, and the subsequent struggle for human survival, influenced films like The Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, and The Towering Inferno two decades later.

#LeithStevens #soundtrack #filmscore #filmcomposer #WarOfTheWorldsBumper blow-up - Kid loses it after toy car crashMalone Digital2023-06-26 | Sound on!
A bumper blow-up. A toy tantrum. A magniloquent meltdown. A car crash catalyst. An ecchymotic ego. A surprised sibling. 42 seconds of something.
The toy bumper cars featured in this video are miniature vehicles operated wirelessly using a handheld remote control.
These cars are also fitted with bumper pads on their left and right sides. When struck by another object (another toy bumper car, for example), the toy driver (as opposed to the toy’s driver) is violently ejected from its seated position. In doing so, the toy driver (once again, not the toy’s driver) shrieks as their disproportionate body is flung from the vehicle.
This serves as a timely reminder to always wear your safety belt, kids.
It's also worth remembering to take good care of your siblings and belongings, instead of letting emotions boil over. I suppose it’s not always easy, especially when you’re only four.
This is not meant to be particularly insightful or anything, just a bit of fun… making sound effects.

What film score am I referring to? The Big Country, composed by Jerome Moross!
It’s probably some of the most ‘understandable’ film music there is. And it doesn’t feel dated like a lot of so-called “Golden Age” scores sometimes do. From the ear-catching and tonal thematic material, to the overall orchestral style, it’s great!

We’re going to explore music Nino Rota composed for one of his two Shakespearean scores with director Franco Zeffirelli, The Taming of the Shrew.
The film was released in 1967 and stars then husband and wife, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
During his 67 years, Nino Rota composed 10 operas, 23 stage works and ballets, 3 symphonies, cello concertos, choral works, chamber music, and 171 film scores.
Rota writes several themes that are put through permutations throughout the score.
Sometimes acting as ‘source music’ or music that characters themselves hear in the story.
Other times, these themes are set for instruments we might associate with the period setting, such as the recorder.
Along the way, Nino Rota infuses his score with the requisite love and pathos but also good humour and wit.

Today, we’re changing geography to continental Europe. We’re switching from film to television music. And from drama to documentary. We’re heading deep into the 1970s and to a work that doesn’t fit the traditional score music mould.
We’re going to play snippets from music that accompanies images few of us have seen after they flickered on TV screens over 45 years ago.
But that’s what makes discovering film and television scores exciting, right?!
On our journey, we’re going to get to know a bit more about a pair of scores available from Quartet Records: Zoo Folle and Gli animali… che simpatia.
Giuliano Sorgini wrote these two scores for Italian documentaries made by Riccardo Fellini. They come from 1974 and 1975—peak jazz-funk-soul time.

Monte Carlo or Bust! (aka Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies) turned 50 in 2019 and was scored by the great Ron Goodwin.
Goodwin was famous for a lot of war-themed film scores like 633 Squadron (1964), Where Eagles Dare (1968)—which is phenomenal incidentally—and The Battle of Britain (1969), the same year as Monte Carlo or Bust!
But for Monte or Bust!, Goodwin adopts the playful, cheery, and light dramatic mode he used in Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965). Even producing a title song, like he did for the earlier adventure.
In this second podcast, I want to introduce some “Tech Talk,” which I know can get insanely dreary and dry. However, I think it’s important to touch on the ‘elements’ involved in the production of the soundtrack collection being discussed here.

Released just over 50 years ago, the 1969 British comedy caper film, The Italian Job remains in our collective consciousness primarily because of its star power: iconic actor Michael Caine and three equally iconic Mini cars.
For The Italian Job, composer Quincy Jones submitted an eclectic mashup of musical genres. He assimilates ideas from jazz, folk, and classical music. He channels the mood of John Barry, pop standards of the era, and he even incorporates football chants.
For the 50th anniversary of the film in 2019, Quartet Records released a remastered version of the original 28 minute stereo album on compact disc—you know the humble and ever-reliable CD.
As a bonus, the CD also includes the film versions of all the Quincy Jones composed cues—as recorded at Olympic Sound Studios by the legendary Keith Grant—and mixed to mono for the film.
So, why not get your skates on mate and pick up the Italian Job 50th anniversary soundtrack CD.

Boomwhackers (Boom Whackers) are musical instruments that produce sound when hit or struck. They are cylindrical tubes made from plastic that come in different lengths and diameters. Each tube produces a different pitch when whacked.
Boomwhackers are often used in educational settings as a way to introduce students to music and rhythm. The tubes can be played individually or together in a group, and they are usually colour-coded to help players identify different pitches.
Boomwhackers are a popular choice for beginners through to experienced musicians. They are popular with percussionists and musical groups as a fun and accessible way to make music.

A steel tongue drum is percussion instrument that produces sound by striking its tongues.
The drum is usually made of steel and is shaped like a circular or oval container with one or more tongues extending inward. The tongues are tuned to specific musical notes and often create a rich sound when struck. They can be played with a variety of techniques, including finger tapping and mallet striking.
Steel tongue drums are often hand-made, allowing for unique variations in size, sound, and style.
Steel tongue drums are sometimes used in musical therapy and meditation practices. They are known for their warm, organic tone and ease of use.

What is an “unboxing video?” Thanks for asking. An unboxing video is a type of video in which a human records themselves opening and unpacking a product and providing their initial impressions of it.
During the video, the human may showcase the product's packaging, accessories, and features, and give their thoughts and opinions on its design, usability, and overall quality.
The video may optionally include grammatical stumbles, hideous camera work, and grotesque editing. Bonus points are awarded for all three, as demonstrated here.
Unboxing videos have become increasingly popular in recent years. They allow viewers to live vicariously through people that are often separated by at least one ocean.

Complete with hands, feet, and awful reflections. That says nothing of the droning and monotonous commentary that bangs on and on and on for nearly 10 minutes. Excruciating.
You'll never get your time back—I'm sorry—but you get to look at stuff in a box as a consolation prize.

They've got a very good bass section, mind, but no top tenors that's for sure.
