Today marks 3 years since I began this project, so I thought I'd finally give a very overdue update if you aren't in my discord. Yes, I have underestimated the amount of work we would put into this project several times over. I'll show plenty in the release trailer, but one of the main things is a whole fleshed out randomizer has been added, something that in all honesty, I wasn't expecting to ever actually get to when I made the original trailer. Louie's Quest has nearly all its levels and music finished. As you can see here. I posted this song in particular because its definitely my favorite out of what KynG has created so far. I'll post a complete version once this is out, along with the rest of the soundtrack (I'll actually be good about it this time, unlike 251). Our goal right now is to get this out in April or May, but I can't be sure. Regardless, I just want to thank you all for your patience throughout all of this. It's been a learning experience for me, and the others involved.

Pikmin 2: Yellow Edition is a hack made by Captain Salty. You are given only Yellow Pikmin and for the majority of the hack, they are the only type you will have at your disposal. To up the stakes, onions have been removed, so your options to make more Pikmin are severely limited. Are you up to the challenge of completing the game with arguably the worst Pikmin type?

This mod lets you control any enemy in the game, Mostly its just fun to mess around, or see what sequence breaks you can do with the right enemies. There's a lot of different moves you have between all the games enemies. This game is playable in both 1 player and 2 players mode. In 2 player mode, player 2 follows player 1 around, and can control enemies the same way you do in single-player. Pressing A B or Y will do different things depending on the enemy, and you can Press X to un-capture them.

New full-screen mode allows you to play with people like normal, but with no split-screen needed! Many improvements are here, such as the new HUD, fixed sound effects, character select, name tags, and more. If you have questions about how to use Full-screen mode, make sure you check the README, it has a code you need to use in dolphin's netplay. To clarify though, by default splitscreen mode requires no codes and works on console or dolphin. Both modes are updated, although I mostly only had full-screen footage for this video.

Pikmin² is a complete port of Pikmin 1 to the engine of its sequel, Pikmin 2. This means no more buggy controls, no more terrible Pikmin AI, no more unresponsive whistle, no more crushing glitch, and so much more! This is a project that has been considered by many people in the past, but no one has had the ability to make it happen until now. By combining the best mechanics of both original Pikmin games, I can finally give the original Pikmin game the quality and polish it deserved. It also features full 2-player mode functionality, with many more additional features planned, although most will likely come in updates after the initial release. Speaking of the release, expect that some time in the first couple months of 2022, although I have the right to change it if I need more time.

This is just a proof of concept I made a few days ago because I've always wanted to change Pikmin 2s sequenced music system to work like in the Banjo Kazooie games where it changes based on where you are in the level. (In case you couldn't tell from the 251 soundtrack I really like Banjo Tooie). So here it reads the type of collision you're standing on to determine which music tracks to mute and unmute.
One downside of this implementation is that the total track count is still limited at 16, meaning I basically get 4 tracks per mix of the song here and they end up being emptier than I would like. Realistically you would probably only want 2 or 3 versions of the song instead of 4 for this reason. The witchyworld model for this stage is also pretty basic because I just wanted this to visually make sense with the music, I also took the midi data for the song straight from banjo tooie myself, and I had to reconstruct all the tracks and I think I messed up a few things.
I may or may not do more with this concept in the future, we'll have to see.Pikmin 2 - Purple and White Onions (Release)PikHacker2020-10-13 | The romhack I posted a video of a couple weeks ago is now released! Play through all of Pikmin 2 with fully functional purple and white onions instead of using the ship. It is obviously very overpowered, and there's not much room in the vanilla overworlds to put 5 onions. For this reason I want people to use this as a base for their own Pikmin 2 hack! Just as long as you credit me for it of course.

My next hack idea is going to be the ability to play as any of pikmin 2s enemies. In this video you see that whistling the bulborb makes me take control of it. As a bulborb, I can press A to bite and B to shake off, and X to uncapture it. I can eat pikmin, climb hills, make captains run away, and anything the normal bulborb can do. Upon uncapturing the bulborb returns to its normal AI and tries to walk home.
This is just a work in progress for now, as its going to be a lot of work to do this for every enemy in the game, but I just had to get something out now for 1000 subscribers. This hack features a single cave floor that has EVERY single object in the game at once, in a massive expanse with billions of possible layouts for you to explore. Every boss, every treasure, every cave, its all right here. You can play through it with up to 4 players as well!
It also features a character select screen with 48 different characters that anyone can play as, options for 200 pikmin limit, onions in the cave, manual cave layout seeds, choosing the cave song, and much more!
I must note that unlike my other pikmin 2 hacks, this one will not be compatible with actual hardware, as the original point of the hack was to show off the power of extra ram with Dolphin Emulator. While the hack has grown to be much more now, it's still always going to need extra ram. The included readme has instructions on how to get extra ram working.

Some things of note: Pikmin can be thrown in here just like normal, along with still acting random about it. They make no sounds at all, and in fact the game trying to play certain sounds with them crashes the game, so I had to disable those attempts in my code. There is still a limit of 100 pikmin here, and since the pikmin don't go away on their own, that limits you significantly. When an enemy is defeated in the piklopedia, it leaves no corpse.
0:40 Pikmin can't get buried in the piklopedia, instead they simply hit the ground like normal. The same happens with mamutas as shown later in the video.
1:00 Pikmin are able to be whistled by the Antenna Beetle fine, although its annoying to get it to actually happen.
1:26 Throwing pikmin into a candypop bud makes the game crash, likely because the game doesnt have the pikmin seeds loaded.
1:34 Honeywisp eggs attempting to make nectar drops causes a crash, but I got lucky here and was able to briefly show that if the egg drops mitites it works fine.
2:04 Pikmin attempting to pick up the pellet posies 1 pellet causes a crash. The log mentions the carry number display manager, but I suspect even besides that this would crash due to there being no onions present.
2:16 Finally we get to see an Empress rolling in the piklopedia!
3:49 The segmented Crawbster will never attack in the piklopedia, even when its being attacked itself.
4:40 The Raging Long Legs still drops mitites on death in the Piklopedia.
5:09 Theres nothing interesting about the games final boss, but perhaps if there were a way for it to have its weapons in here?
5:49 Some enemies, such as this one and the cannon beetles, are invincible during the piklopedia. This is most likely because they could hurt themselves with their own attacks in theory.
7:19 If you use purples instead of reds, you can defeat the Waterwraith itself within the Piklopedia! Although the limit of throwing 100 pikmin max makes it difficult...
Use this gecko code in order to mess with this yourself, but note it is for the USA Demo 1 version of Pikmin 2, so your best bet is to use it with Pikmin 251 or my 4 player hack. And be careful about the crashes that I showed in this. The bright pink region represents open memory, while dark pink is being used. This Pikmin 2 Rom-hack is so big in scale that it simply cannot load under the Gamecube's standard 24 MB of MEM1. Thanks to the power of the new Dolphin update by Minty Meeo, we can now play this hack completely! You will need to crank the MEM1 region up to 64 MB for it to run.
Since this hack has not been mentioned on my channel before, I should give a quick description of what this is. This is a version of Pikmin 2 where you go right into a MASSIVE 75 room cave that contains every single enemy, every cave unit, and all 201 treasures. You can choose to play as a variety of characters, and it has co-op modes among other things, such as having Onions in the caves. It should be released soon, I still need to iron out some issues.Pikmin 2 - Practice HacksPikHacker2020-04-07 | Play through any floor of any cave with the press of a button! This Pikmin 2 mod will allow anyone whether its a speedrunner trying to practice the game or a hacker like me testing things on certain floors.
