Matt vs. Fireaxe: Two Best Friends Play Silent Hill Downpour
updated
Keys For Eclipse: A Silent Hill Movie
youtube.com/watch?v=DXipcpxO9wk
So this full playthrough with a glitched invisible Harry was originally a secret bonus for those who could find and solve the ARG I put into the Keys for Eclipse movie. However, no one has solved it. And I guess by this point no one will. So I'm publishing the full playthrough for all to experience.
You can find the solution locations to the puzzle at the end of this description, but if you'd rather solve it for yourself, don't go to the end of the description.
This playthrough itself was the first time I ever played through the whole game in first person mode. It was quite exhilarating to experience it at all, as it's something I always wanted to do with Silent Hill 1!
------------------------------
About Invisible Harry:
Invisible Harry is a side effect of a multi-step glitch sequence that I am still in the process of researching. By this point, I do not believe it's something that can be achieved on at will, but instead is a mostly random and hard to achieve side effect of the glitch sequence.
The problem with using Invisible Harry glitch to do a "first person" view playthrough is that the glitch sequence used to get it is mostly random, and it can affect more or less anything and everything in the game. To get a true "first person" experience where the game itself looks normal, you need a glitch result where only Harry is affected while everything else is unaffected. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen. Of the many times I've gotten Invisible Harry, something else is always affected by the glitch, whether the text/dialogue, or the trees, or the snow, or the enemy models, or the water textures, etc etc. The absolute closest I have ever gotten to a true normal first person experience is the playthrough you are watching. In this playthrough, Harry is invisible and the only other major game components affected are the text and trees and minor things.

So yea, this video is the result of two glitches at once. When I am able to get invisible Harry (through a sequence break I'm still researching), and I combine it with the Skip Alley/Find Cheryl trick at the beginning of the game, I am able to explore Old Silent Hill at a calm and leisurely pace, without enemies getting in my way or bothering me.

HD Collection with New Voices (and No Music)

----------
"So What's The Deal With This?"
Well, the audio files for the original version of Born From a Wish are a bit different from the rest of Silent Hill 2, in that the dialogue and background music are baked together in the same file. Unlike in the main scenario, where the music can be isolated, the music in BFaW can not.
In 2016 I recreated the music from the BFaW cutscenes by editing out the dialogue and piecing the tracks back together with the left over pieces, to the best of my ability, based on how much of each track was available to me after removing the dialogue.
When the HD Collection released, if you played the BFaW scenario with "new voices", you will have discovered that the music is not even there. This is simply because as explained up there, the original files had the original voices baked into the music. It wasn't possible to use the original music with the new voices. So they opted to have silence in the background.
And even though the recreated tracks are not 100% true to the original forms, they are pretty close.
So now you know what Original Music + New Voices looks and sounds like!
Also, since the sound mixing in Deadly Premonition is so horrible, the sound of York destroying barriers such as fences can sound like gunshots. To keep this video nice and calm without horrible audio spikes, I've spliced out whenever I had to break down a fence/barrier. If you see me approaching a fence, you won't have to hear me breaking it.

Special Thanks:
First off, I want to thank two channels: Nekorun (Deep Game Research) and New Resident Evil Save Room Music, for making this film possible.
Nekorun has a hacking channel, and he helped me for certain parts of this film. Without his help, it would have been a struggle to finish those parts. Please check out Nekorun's channel here:

New Resident Evil Save Room Music is one of my favorite ambient music creators on youtube. They make some amazing pieces, and their work was also important to seeing this film come to light. Please check out New Resident Evil Save Room Music here

About This Film
Without getting into too much detail for now, I found a way to glitch Harry Mason's character model invisible. This movie combines invisible Harry Mason and the "Self VIew" Mode to create a true and genuine first person Silent Hill 1 experience.
At this time, I am still testing and researching the Invisible Harry glitch. There will be more to say about it in the future.
------------------------------
Thank you for watching. It was a really fun experience putting this movie together. I hope you enjoyed it.
There's so much I wanna say in this description but now I'll just let the movie speak for itself.
(Although I'll add that I did set this up for a possible sequel film, if I want to take the time to make it. I have some ideas that did not make it into this first movie).

There are four different parts in this video:
--------------------
00:00
1.) Lost Child-Cutscene at Greenevale Forest Park
In this segment I run up the long walkway and enter the cutscene where York and Emily talk about Becky with Kaysen and the twins. Since the game enters a load transition away from the town after the custcene, the glitch is erased after it.
--------------------
05:22
2.) Red Seeds- Cutscene with Brian at the Graveyard.
In this segment I go into the graveyard and discuss red seeds with Brian. This is followed by a short gameplay segment towards the red seeds, and the cutscene that comes next.
--------------------
10:56
3.) Fallen Goddess- Tailing Nick Cutscene
In this segment, I show the cutscene involving tailing Nick to the Muses Gallery, and afterwards I intentionally fail the sequence for the additional cutscene. The glitch is erased once you complete the tailing sequence.
--------------------
14:10
4.) Dumpster Diving
This last segment was another testing recording session. I was testing to find out if using a dumpster resulted in anything different. It turns out that yea, it does: it erases the glitch.
I wasn't expecting this.
--------------------
As of this video's publication (14 July 2019), I've only known about this trick for one day. Right now, I'm in the process of researching it and finding out how far it can be taken, and what the limitations are.
This video you're watching now is live footage of my seeing this trick for the very first time, and it's likely the first time anyone had ever seen it (besides possibly anyone involved in making the game, I guess?).
The video begins *after* the trick has already been done, so you won't see how I do it, for now. It definitely does not begin at the fishing dock behind the hotel, so don't go back there and try to get this because it requires a sequence break from somewhere else first.
Like I said, I'm in the process of researching this, so soon I'll get a tutorial up on how to do it.
This was done on a PS3, and I can't say yet if it can be done on 360 or PC (though my guess for that would be yea it can be done).
As you will see in the video, I replicate the trick on my first attempt after resetting (and since then, it's worked every time I've tried it).
--------------------
Interesting Notes:
-It appears with the sequence break (which again, I don't show here), you are able to escape the fishing mini-game, and in the process fool the game into believing you are still there, no matter where you go in town.
-Therefore, since the game believes you are still in the mini-game, when York walks/runs or moves, there are no sound effects, since you can't do those actions in the fishing mini-game.
-Also it appears that you can't initiate conversations with anyone you find around town, as in the video you'll see me attempt to talk to both Emily and Sigourney. Action prompts for other things like car doors and building doors seem to be fine, but conversation prompts are invalidated.
-The glitch, sadly, is reset and lost whenever you go through a loading transition (such as entering a building). This was something I expected to be the case before actually finding out if it were true, as I've found out over the course of glitching Deadly Premonition that loading transitions act as hard resets of any glitches you may have ongoing, so glitches can't be carried into buildings (likewise, glitches cannot be carried from building interiors outside and into the town). This is unlike a game such as Silent Hill Homecoming, which in that case the Invisible Alex glitch is game-wide and will follow you from the beginning of the game until the end.
Sadly, it's just the way loading transitions are programmed in Deadly Premonition, as glitches are erased when you pass through one.
----------------
I just had to get this video out there, it was entirely unplanned. It's been awhile since a sequence break/glitch discovery made me this excited. Usually I hold a sequence break or glitch back and research it first, but I just wanted to let fans know this is a thing that is now possible.
------------------------------
OMIKRON
"When is Omikron??????"
Besides the History of Resident Evil and Shitstorm 6 videos, I haven't been active in 2019, I know. But I am still working on/finishing Omikron. I hope by now, with as much time that has passed since I started it, that you know I wouldn't be taking so long if it were a straight edit like all the tbfp/sbfp cuts I've done in the past. Considering there are already a handful of Omikron edits, I would have already abandoned the project by now, if it were a simple cut.
Omikron is and has been a different monster than anything I've handled before.
Much like Matt, Pat and Woolie (and Liam), my own life has gone through some changes. In my case, I don't have the time I used to have for this channel. But Omikron is still coming!
It won't be in 2019, but 2020. It's already June of 2019 and it's just not going to be done in 6 months.
You *WILL* know when Omikron is finished.
This update video is the last update video regarding Omikron. When I'm done with Omikron and ready to publish, I will have another small video literally telling you the date and time I am publishing it.
For example I would say "Omikron will be published at 8pm on 31 October 2020" alongside that video (as an example).
------------------------------
* CHANNEL ANNOUNCEMENT*
Omikron will be the last tbfp/sbfp video I publish.
Like I said above, my life isn't where it was 2014-2018. I literally don't have time for the channel that I used to have.
The rate at which I can make the videos has diminished drastically and it isn't fair to keep you waiting for things that may or may not come. Edit intensive videos aren't a thing I can do much anymore, and going forward that becomes more and more true.
Everything ends at some point, and I won't be doing the tbfp/sbfp videos after Omikron.
Once I finally admitted to myself that Omikron was going to be it, it was a pretty good relief to be felt on my part. I realized I could take the time to make Omikron THE video to go out with a bang on, to take the care to make it feel like the end of something.
I'm making Omikron the end of it all, on my end.
That being said, however, I have other tbfp/sbfp videos I am working on that will be published before that point, and I've put Omikron down to work on those videos.
Those videos are:
1.) tbfp Silent Hill 1 edit (since it's also the last tbfp sh edit, I'm making it special)
2.) Fireaxe Quest 2.0 (remember that? Yea It's still a thing, and it's coming along nicely).
3.) Pat Laughing comp (to be a parallel to the Matt video I did, both of those which have been requested too many times to count)
4.) A Woolie video that I won't describe yet
5.) Possibly another one or two other tbfp edits...
Also, I started an extremely time consuming Deadly Premonition project, and I've still got a long way to go before that one is finished. This Deadly Premonition project is *not* related to TBFP, however if you are a Deadly Premonition fan it is definitely something you will enjoy. It's an idea I've had for awhile and I finally decided in April of 2019 to do it.
------------------------------
I also have a lot of Silent Hill glitch videos to publish so in between those other videos mentioned above I will publish the glitch videos.
As well as the SH glitch videos I have some Deadly Premonition glitch videos, including a pretty crazy *new* sequence break I found in April that I'm still messing around with.
------------------------------
So please bear with me. I know the interest for the Omikron video has probably been lost for most but dammit, it'll be done and it'll kill me like it's killed others.
What will the future hold for this channel post-Omikron? I don't know. It may be the end of this channel, maybe not.
Thanks for sticking with me through the last few years.
The journey is coming to a close.
This was actually the first playthrough I recorded with the glitch results, and the earlier Jan 2019 video I uploaded was the second playthrough I recorded.
I would have had more playthroughs but my cat bumped into my ps3 in between playthroughs 2 and 3 and my ps3 turned off, effectively erasing the extreme glitch results.
For some reason the video desyncs towards the latter half of the playthrough. I don't know why.

Things to Explain:
***The Beginning with Cheryl***
I originally planned on doing the Cheryl on Bachman Road trick at the very end of the playthrough but I forgot to do it. I had already done it prior as I was testing to see whether or not I wanted this to be what the full playthrough would look like, so that's why you see it at the very beginning. I left it in at the beginning since I forgot to do it after.
***The Larval Stalker***
At 00:24:24 I stop to view the Larval Stalker. In normal gameplay when the stalker trips and gets up, it vanishes so that you can't see it, giving the illusion that it leaves the room. However with the game glitched like this, the larval stalker begins colored, trips, and switches to black after the trip. After the trip it does not fade away, but instead it freezes in place. The new discovery means that in normal gameplay, the larval stalker doesn't actually leave the room. It's there, frozen, waiting, you just can't see it.
***The Tiles Puzzle***
With the game glitched like this, some puzzles are hard to solve because the textures are all the same. In particular, the tile puzzle in Alchemilla Hospital becomes impossible to solve by sight of the tiles alone, since they are nearly identical.
At 01:10:15, 01:10:56, 01:14:04, and 01:16:00 I stay on the inventory screen for longer than seems necessary. This is something I wanted to leave in and not edit out, because it shows my realizing that solving the tile puzzle is going to be impossible to do without looking up a guide for assistance.
(also there are other splice edits at puzzle locations, the tile puzzle isn't the only puzzle splice for this reason)
***Lost in the Amusement Park***
At 02:26:56 there's a very noticeable cut in the gameplay. I got lost in the amusement park. Everything being all screwed up really threw me off, and I got lost for like 10 minutes.

Thanks so much for your patience with me on this video. I simply don't have the time I used to have to do stuff for this channel, but I still like to work on edits. I've had this as an active project since November of 2017. Your patience kept this video alive.

The glitch also affected the end of this ending. When the cue for the song to play occurs, it simply doesn't. The credits scroll does not occur. Instead the screen sits static until what would be the credit scroll is over, and then "The End" pops up.
Here's a comparison to the un-glitched, normal UFO ending:

All previous uploaded videos in this series have been updated for 31 Jan. 2019. There was a lot of outdated text in those descriptions.
-------------------
The glitchy nature of this video is the random result of a glitch sequence I found in 2015. The glitch sequence itself has resulted in a few videos I have uploaded over the years. These videos are, in order of publication:

--------------------
The glitch sequence itself, the thing I do in order to get these crazy results, in something I am still researching. I have not yet published a video where I explain how to break the game in these ways, nor do I know the actual scope of how far the game can be broken with this sequence. It's possible that it may not be possible to know.
Even as recent as a few weeks ago, I've been getting results I theorized was possible but wasn't sure was actually possible, and the I finally got them.
I will upload the full playthrough (which this is taken from) in a few days from now.
--------------------
**Important Note**
As I'll explain below, this video is likely to get an updated version down the line, so it will remain an active project until then.
Also I want to say here: this isn't a video where I just threw all existing edits together. I went through each edit and condensed them to what I felt were the best or most important moments of each lp/edit.

History of "The History of" Video:
January 2018 - May 2018:
During this time I started toying with the idea for this video. I started working on a possible intro for the video, and started developing the idea of the typewriter transitions.
June 2018:
When the first Resident Evil 2 Remake trailer released, I took my idea seriously enough to dive into my existing edits and I condensed each one down to fit into a single edit. I also decided to tie in the RE2 trailer into the video, to make for a fitting conclusion. I decided in this month to make the video a giant promo for the eventual TBFP RE2 Remake lp.
July 2018:
They started their TBFP Resident Evil 5 playthrough on the same day I released the first of what was a planned series of mysterious RE videos leading up to an eventual August publication of the main video (You can't find the mysterious RE videos, they are deleted now).
August 2018:
After a few mysterious videos are published, I decide to stop releasing them. The Resident Evil 5 lp is throwing too much of a fire axe into my plans. I eventually decide to not release the "History of" video in August and moved it to a likely Christmas release (still enough time then to act as a promo for the RE2 Remake lp.)
September-November 2018:
The video sits on the shelf, and I only work on it for minor edits. I don't have time to work in the RE5 lp, so it gets left out.
December 2018:
SBFP break up. It's at this point I have no idea how to proceed, so I don't.
January 25, 2019:
Resident Evil 2 Remake releases. I decide this is the best day to publish the "History of" video, although it now releases under much different circumstances from when I originally came up with the idea.
--------------------
Purpose of the History of video:
Originally it was meant to be just a chronological history. Nothing too special.
When the RE2 Remake trailer released, I wanted to make it a giant promo for their eventual LP.
When they broke up, it turned into an accidental tribute to tbfp Resident Evil.
--------------------
Why Resident Evil 5 isn't in the current video:
I haven't had time, one reason. The other reason is I felt the RE7 lp was a stronger ending to the video than the RE5 lp. But I'd like to work in RE5 into an updated version of this video.
--------------------
Why One-off videos such as Code Veronica/Remake 1/Outbreak/etc aren't included:
I wanted the video to only be about full game lps, as working in the one-offs alongside the full lps wouldn't have flowed as well.
However I would like to find a way to make the one-offs work in an updated version, as the lps themselves aren't exactly the full history.
--------------------
About the typewriter intro/transition sequences:
These are all manually constructed. I didn't use any automatic-type plug-ins or whatever. I wanted the typewriter sequences to feel real, as though someone were actually typing, which meant I had to do it all manually. Minor time variations among characters. Meaning each instance a new character appears on screen, it's a new static image of the same full text image, only masked to reveal the next character.
For example, the first typed sequence is actually ~40 different images played in succession.
The typing sound effects are from RE games, and those also were all manually edited. Again, nothing automatic.
I actually have two classic/old typewriters and at one point was trying to record audio of myself typing out the text, banging on the keys like a jackass, but this wasn't working as well as I wanted it to.
--------------------
About the Future of the History:
I don't know what comes next. But no one really does, I guess.

------------------------------
Skip #4 of 4: Town Hall Cutscene Skip
Difficulty: 5/10 (the clip itself isn't hard, but there's a chance you get stuck in the wall and the run is basically over. It's hard to rate this skip since it's easy to do, but a fast run-killer if failed).
Time Saved: Around 3 1/2 minutes.
------------------------------
A.) The Skip:
What you need to do is get the gun clipped into the wall to the right of the gate. This needs to be as close to the gate's metal frame as possible. This will not work if you are too far away from the gate (and being too far away from the gate also makes getting stuck in the wall more likely to occur).
Once the gun is clipped into the wall, rotate Alex while at the same time holding down on the control stick. These two movements should push Alex into the gate itself, where his body can slide through the gate. Continue rotating and holding back until it seems Alex is on the other side, then let go.
The two main gates you should worry about skipping are built the same way, so if you can skip one gate, you just have to basically repeat the same skip, only at a different place.
I would not worry about skipping the first gate. Since it takes roughly 17 seconds to pass it normally, that's about the same amount of time it takes to perform the skip.
------------------------------
B.) What this Skips:
The first gate clip skips the entire upper left section of the level.
The second gate clip skips having to fight the monsters in the arena after Elle is attacked.
------------------------------
This skips save about 3 1/2 minutes if both are performed well.
If you did this skip along with both of the Hotel skips and the Town Hall skip (linked above) you can expect to save about 9 minutes total.
For example, if you're getting a run average of 1 hour flat, you can expect to drop your personal record down to around 51 minutes.
At the end of the video is a time comparison of what you could expect your new runs to look like vs your old ones.

------------------------------
Skip #3 of 4: Town Hall Cutscene Skip
Difficulty: 1/10 (after some practice)
Time Saved: Around 1:30 to 2 minutes
------------------------------
A.) The Skip:
Once inside the Town Hall, immediately turn right and clip through the windowed wall. This initial clip is easy, as the wall is thin and offers very little resistance.
Alex will fall on top of the tunnels underneath the building. There's a pretty large area of collison you can explore down here, and it's not confined to the visible tunnels below Alex. However you need to get down into the tunnels.
Run down the long hallway until Alex seems to drop a bit onto another lower plane of collison. At this point turn right to face the dead end and either gun-walk or knife-walk off the collision and fall into the tunnel. Then proceed to the exit.
Alex will of course get the ceremonial dagger upon returning to the cemetary. Skipping the cutscene doesn't change anything.
------------------------------
B.) What this Skips:
-Opening the trap door
-Going to the dagger room
-The unskippable dagger cutscene
-Most of the tunnels leading to the surface
------------------------------
This skip saves roughly 1:30 to 2 minutes.
If you did this skip along with both of the Hotel skips, you can expect to save almost 5 minutes, maybe more?
For example, if you're getting a run average of 1 hour flat, you can expect to drop your personal record down to around 55 minutes.
At the end of the video is a time comparison of what you could expect your new runs to look like vs your old ones.
------------------------------
Etc:
The time comparison footage I used had some minor mistakes in it. I would guess around 10-15 seconds of UFOtekkie's time was wasted between getting turned around and other minor stuff.
Also there's a way to skip just opening the trap door. You can run straight back to Holloway's office and clip through the rear wall (behind her chair) and you'll land inside the dagger room, saving a few seconds over opening the trap door (if the office wall clip is fast).
All of this is why I'm ballparking the time saved between 1:30 and 2 minutes.

------------------------------
Skip #2 of 4: Hotel Dialogue Tree
Difficulty: 2/10 (after some practice)
Time Saved: Roughly 30 seconds, maybe more?
------------------------------
A.) The Skip:
Inside the hallway leading to the Atrium, get the gun to clip into the frame to the left of the double doors. Once the gun is anchored into the wall, you need to swing Alex's body through the doors and into the unloaded Atrium.
(side note: the anchoring/swinging technique is not a universal trick, as it does not work on every door in the game).
Once inside the unloaded Atrium, walk backwards while the double doors are lined up in the middle of the screen, while also mashing on the examine button. Mayor Bartlett is in the center of the room and his dialogue prompt can be accessed while Alex is facing away from him.
Because the room was not properly loaded, the actual dialogue scenes can't properly load either. The game does the only thing it can: just bring up the prompts. Just mash on the buttons until the dialogue tree is spent, and the pre-fight cutscene will begin.
(side note: because you should have already done the first floor atrium lobby skip, Sepulcher will have been displaced. Therefore the game will still be forced to pause after the cutscene so that the displacement can be corrected. I *do not know* if this forced pause takes as long on 360 or PC).
------------------------------
B.) What this Skips:
-A useless dialogue tree in which nothing is learned and time is wasted
------------------------------
This skip saves roughly 30 seconds (for PS3).
However since you would have already done the first floor skip, the total time saved from both skips would be over 3 minutes (and maybe even more on 360/PC?).
For example: if you're getting a run average of 1 hour flat, you can expect to drop your personal record down to 57 minutes.
At the end of the video is a time comparison of what you could expect your new runs to look like vs your old ones.
------------------------------
BONUS:
I don't show this in the video, but an interesting side effect of skipping the loading screen leading to Sepulcher is the entire Police Station level is much darker than it is supposed to be.
Time Comparison footage:
youtube.com/watch?v=DhkZWNNbcw0
(thanks UFOtekkie)
Skip #1 of 4: Hotel First Floor
Difficulty: 2/10 (after some practice)
Time Saved: Between 2-3 minutes
------------------------------
A.) The Skip:
Go to the Atrium lobby's wall on the first floor. The only area of the wall that is easy to skip through is the section to the left of the second pillar from the right of the double doors (it's in the thumbnail hope you can see it).
Get the gun clipped into the wall, and when it starts pulling you in, move the gun down and to the right. This will help Alex to slip into the wall about halfway (look for the right shoulder to mostly disappear). Once Alex is halfway in the wall, rotate the gun until it's parallel (or close to parallel) with the wall in the opposite direction, while at the same time holding right on the control stick. These movements will make it so that the gun is pushing Alex away from the wall and into the unloaded Atrium lobby.
Once inside the lobby, make your way to the save point, save, and the load that save. This will properly load the room and, more importantly, the prompt to open the doors leading to the Sepulcher fight.
------------------------------
B.) What this Skips:
-Getting the maintenance key
-Going back out to solve the wire puzzle
-The entire elevator sequence
-The clip into Josh's room
------------------------------
This skip saves anywhere from 2 to almost 3 minutes. For example: if you're getting a run average of 1 hour flat, you can expect to drop your personal record down to 58 minutes.
At the end of the video is a time comparison of what you could expect your new runs to look like vs your old ones.
*Note*
The 2nd half of this video is just a bonus section. If you have invisible Alex trick active and then perform the Fitch mausoleum clip, you can then go to where the cutscene with Elle is at the missing persons board, and both Alex and Elle are invisible.
--------------------
*How to Get Invisible Alex Using the New Method*
1.) Go to the 2nd floor of the shepherd house. There are two pictures on the wall that can be examined. You can perform this trick on either of these two pictures (and these are also the only two "Examine" objects in the entire game I've been able to get this trick to work).
2.) While standing in front of one of the pictures, hit the camera zoom button (for PS3, L3). You need Alex in first person perspective.
3.) With Alex in first person perspective, hold down the button that cancels that "Examine" function (for PS3, the Circle button).
4.) With the cancel ("Back") function held down, you need to press the Examine button (for PS3, X) and then the zoom function (L3) in quick order. However you need to wait a split second after pressing the Examine button before pressing the Zoom button. If you press too quickly, the trick will not work (this is shown in the video) but if you press too late, the trick will not work either.
--------------------
*What Is Happening?*
When you press the "Examine" button while holding down the "Back" button, the Examine process is unexpectedly interrupted. If you also press the Zoom (having already been zoomed in) function during the interrupted examination process, the game gets confused as to whether or not Alex is on screen, and his character model is removed entirely.
This results are 100% identical to the old method using the backyard cutscene. Alex will remain invisible for the remainder of the game (not counting some cutscenes)l and the invisibility carries over to new game saves and other save files.
I really had fun working on this project. I hope you like it.
***Important Note***
If you stick around for the ending credits, I show some behind the scenes handwritten notes and diagrams detailing how this idea evolved from idea conception to what you see in the video. I'd recommend watching on a screen bigger than a phone for those handwritten notes and diagrams to be more visible.
------------------------------
A.) Origin of this Project:
Like I mentioned above, this was an idea inspired by the comment Matt made during the LP, referencing the incoherent nonlinear timeline, that:
"This strikes me as someone who didn't understand Memento."
I was also inspired by similar complaints made by others, as well as that I also felt the story was trying and failing at being Memento-like.
Super Best Friends Play Beyond Two Souls:
youtube.com/watch?v=GA_VUoePgrc
------------------------------
B.) The Hunted-Homeless Arc:
Using the game's entire story would not have worked for this project. To better match Memento's story pacing (which takes place over the span of a few days, as opposed to Beyond's many years) I needed a smaller arc within the larger story.
I eventually settled on using the Hunted scenes as the equivalent to Memento's motel flashback scenes, and the Homeless scenes as the reverse chronology scenes.
(in the end credits explanations, I talk about how during the initial tests of this idea, I thought that the Homeless to Navajo arc was the best arc to use. Over time, that arc wasn't coming together well, and I eventually discovered that the Hunted to Homeless arc was almost perfect for the Memento structure).

(btw the Good++ category name I pulled from a top comment on this original video. Thanks Humberto Martins).
------------------------------
About the Sequence Break/Glitch:
It's very simple. After you first see Cheryl, turn around and head towards the stop sign/Bachman road. There's a trigger that prevents Harry from going forward, telling him to turn around and follow Cheryl.
If you open the menu screen at the exact moment Harry hits the trigger, the menu will cancel out the trigger, allowing Harry to go into the town.
If you follow Bachman Road south, you'll find Cheryl standing in the middle of the intersection, facing southwest.
It's important to note: if you attempt to do this *after* following Cheryl to the alley opening, the town will disappear shortly past the stop sign.
------------------------------
About The Editing In This Video:
The actual speedrun part (from the beginning all the way to when I reach Cheryl) was a single segment. There were no splices or edits there.
If you watch the credits, you'll see some fails I recorded before I recorded the single segment run.
Everything after reaching Cheryl is edited and fake.
------------------------------
Rules for the Speedrun:
1.) Time starts when you enter the difficulty level.
2.) Time ends when you run through Cheryl. You must run through Cheryl directly in order for the run to count.
Even though my time for this run is 01:28, it's not perfect. I left some room for improvement. Maybe 01:25 is possible, maybe even lower?
Try to break my record. Can you beat Silent Hill faster than 01:28?

Important Notes:
1.) The only David Cage game I included was their original Two Best Friends Play Heavy Rain lp.
2.) I also did not include any of the annual shitstorms
3.) The following lps that I have compilations for also did not make this video since there weren't any good clips for inclusion:
-MGSV Phantom Pain (Matt was in the beginning)
-D4 Season 1
-Donkey Kong Country 2 (Solo lp)
-Call of Cthulhu
4.) At 01:03:50 in a Ride to Hell clip, Matt makes a noise that sounds like he was going to laugh but the shock of the moment broke his mind, so it's not technically a laugh....but yea.
5.) At 01:13:14 There''s a split second blank spot. These two clips didn't snap together and I didn't catch the error until it was too late.
6.) At 01:25:53 in a RE Revelations 2 clip, I actually include 2 back to back clips. The first clip sets up the actual laughing clip that starts at 01:26:11. This is the only time in the entire video this 2-clip setup occurs.

Intro Sequence Explanation:
The intro sequence is a chronological history of Silent Hill on their channel.
I did not include Silent Hill 1 since they played that after Silent Hill 3. Shattered Memories is included twice because it was the first Silent Hill game they played, and they also revisited it later with Liam as a full LP. I chose to leave the Shitstorm SH3 out, since SH3 is the comp itself. Even though it didn't make the intro, it does get a mention in the comp itself so it's cool I guess.
TBFP Silent Hill chronology is:

I meant to include the scan from the strategy guide that explains the Supply Conditions system for health/ammo at the part where Matt loses his shit at how much ammo he has. By the time I realized I forgot to include the scan, it was too late to throw it in. I'm typing this description hours before publishing the video.

16:50 Ju-on/Tak Fuji 1,000,000 Troops
17:26 Silent Hill 3 Mashup with Silent Hill 3 LP from 2016
--------------------
Explanations:
1.) Remake FIreaxe Throw
In the extended cut comp, this sequence plays out over the course of the video (one segment for each volume), and is explained at the Remake conclusion. In the EC comp each part has to fade in and fade out. But for the bonus shit video I can let it play out as one segment, so there's no fade in/fade out.
2.) Dino Crisis
"Ah ah ah you didn't say the magic word" is actually Matt and wasn't edited. During the EC editing I was just testing this out as an idea and couldn't believe Matt's timing was perfectly matched with the original scene audio. Matt nailed the timing of that dialogue. If you listen closely during the second part (where "ah ah ah" repeats) you can hear Newman's voice underneath Matt's.
3.) Tak Fuji
I didn't really like how this turned out, but the bigger issue was since this was the first game of the shitstorm, it felt way too soon. The comp barely got started and it felt too forced to almost immediately cutaway to this.
4.) Silent Hill 3 One-off and LP mashup
Since Matt fell at exactly the same point (the curve at the rollercoaster) in both the Shitstorm video and the LP in 2016, I used that point to switch from the shitstorm video to the LP. What I did was let the shitstorm audio play underneath the LP video and see how many parts could line up well enough that it felt like they were both part of the same video. Starting with Heather's phone call at the mall, the audio is from the Shitstorm video, and the video is from the LP.
5.) Omikron Text
During their recording, the text pat was reading didn't show up on the screen. I just put the text back up and used Omikron font because fuck it.
6.) Fatal Frame Cats
Matt posts tons of pics of Zach and Leeloo on his twitter so most of the pics I pulled from that. Took like 5 minutes to get all the pics I used. There are so many pictures...
Nothing wrong with cat pics. I have three cats. I take tons of pics of them.
--------------------
In April of 2017 I was recording some testing of an intentional glitch in Silent Hill 1, and I got an unexpected result that has only ever happened to me a few times. I'm uploading this because of Two Best Friends Play Silent Hill Part 10, where they experience an audio glitch that could be related (in a technical sense) to what I experienced. More information below, as always.
TBFP SIlent HIll Part 10 (glitch at 15:50)
youtube.com/watch?v=eSdbWPC1HC4
If you play SH1 on the PS3, the audio bug they experienced can sometimes occur. The player firing a weapon seems to be a reliable trigger for the glitch. I've never had this happen to me during normal gameplay (on ps3), but here's an example:
"The dreaded SIlent Hill error (ps3 related)"
youtube.com/watch?v=dZycNrLfWXs
--------------------
So in this video, what I was doing was testing an intentional glitch. At the start I had already completed the glitch, and was completing tasks like normal to progress through the level to see what happens with the glitch as I progressed further.
Harry missing his head, the game constantly stuttering and the school roof turning a solid white when turning the valve are all normal side effects of the glitch. None of this was new to me at the time of recording.
However (after the fast forwarded part in which nothing else happens) in one hallway on the 2nd floor the game turns to a static screen with loud noises. The static and noises alternate every few seconds. There's nothing else that can be done, it's a crash. I kept recording and then realized that was probably the end.
You'll notice that it happens after the Grey Child attempts to attack Harry. I dunno. A lot was going on at once and the game's brain just broke I guess.
But it's kinda similar to what happened to Matt and Pat in TBFP SIlent Hill part 10 (minus the firing of a weapon). And I've been holding on to this footage since April 2017 with no idea whether or not to publish. This gave me a reason to.

The Criticism of Part 1
This is a response video about the criticisms that the original video received. I had a lot of complaints that it was kinda deceptive/lame/shitty of me to claim I was correcting a scene when all I was doing was speeding up and slowing down parts.
You're right.
So for Part 2, what I have done is gone back to each of the traps and streamlined each scene so that each game is kept within the limits of that respective game's given time, without speeding up or slowing down parts.
The way to do this is to keep each scene moving forward towards the end, by cutting out "filler" and maintaining the forward motion of characters and the overall mechanics of the trap.
--------------------
The Time Issue
Generally speaking, the earlier films (Saw 1-4) were for the most part able to keep the on-screen time during each trap within the limit of that trap's timers.
Starting with the 5th Saw movie, the on-screen time spent in each trap extended beyond the expiration of the given time in the trap.
This issue culminated in Saw 7 being the worst offender, with most of the movie being one large trap-time-inconsistency (with the Garage trap being the worst time-inconsistency offender of the entire franchise, I think).

Thanks for the criticism of the first video. You guys made this Part 2 possible.

Cafe Cutscene:
youtube.com/watch?v=tKkFXC_jmJ8
Unfortunately, during this glitching session, I was not expecting this outcome. In particular, during this result, in-game collision is gone. It's basically impossible to progress in the game because Harry walks through everything (and you can't see anything in the first place).
Because I wasn't expecting this type of result prior to getting it, I did not have save spots prepared so I could jump around the game and witness other cutscenes in this glitched manner (such as right before meeting Dr. K, right before the final boss, etc).
Thanks to this result, after I did all I could to get the most out of it, I replayed the game normally, making sure to save before every important moment in the game (cutscenes, boss fights, etc) so that should I get a result where Harry can walk through collision, but you can't see much of anything besides character models and minor stuff, I am prepared to in fact get more on recorded video.

About the Audio Drama "Inescapable Rain in Yoshiwara"
(from gaiaonline post, see translation section)
"This CD contains horror stories produced by the voice works of Teiyu Ichiryusai, who is the leading storyteller of horror stories. He has been recognized as an important intangible cultural asset and a living national treasure in Japan in 2002. The contents of stories in this CD are written about closed spaces such as a room,a secret chamber, and a darkroom which are related to the theme of Silent Hill."
"Moreover, the background music, which effects his storytelling and strikes audiences’ horror, is produced by Akira Yamaoka. The correspondence between his voices and the music produce unique sound and style which is so-called “Kyou-dan” (It means storytelling with reverberate voice). The following 12 titles of each chapter of the story mean Japanese pitch names in the principle of traditional Japanese music"

About the Music from "Inescapable Rain in Yoshiwara"
The music from this audio drama is either unaccompanied from narration, comes with narration but can also be found on other discs, or comes with narration and can not be found elsewhere.
Both Yoshiwara and Born From a Wish projects had the purpose of isolating the music from the dialogue with editing and track reconstruction.
Unfortunately there were still a handful of ambient tracks throughout the disc that could not be isolated because of lack of usable material.

Unfortunately, during this glitching session, I was not expecting this outcome. In particular, during this result, in-game collison is gone.
Thanks to this result, after I did all I could to get the most out of it, I replayed the game normally, making sure to save before every important moment in the game (cutscenes, boss fights, etc) so that should I get a result where Harry can walk through collison, but you can't see much of anything besides character models and minor stuff, I am prepared to in fact get more on recorded video.
