The Perfect History-bounding Shirtwaist?! || Pattern-Testing A New Blouse Shannon Makes 2021-11-12 | Did I just pattern test *the perfect* shirtwaist pattern? Technically I think that depends on what exactly you look for in your shirtwaists and your historybounding, but for ME, I think I've just found my new favorite option for history-bounding in the late Victorian and Edwardian Era, and that's the new pattern by Lina Piprek! It's super comfortable, comes in a huge range of sizes, and has multiple options/views for those who want different sleeves. It's got all the elements of a classic shirtwaist, including insertion lace, pintucks, fitted cuffs, a gathered waist, and loads of cute buttons, not to mention it's incredibly versatile and makes a great starting point for easy modifications! Chop up enough apples to fill a good sized casserole dish nearly to the top. I think I usually do very roughly 8. Chunks as big or little as you want, this dish is your oyster. Sprinkle the apples with a touch of sugar, and a healthy amount of cinnamon. In a bowl, add 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup flour, and 1/2 - 2/3 cup brown sugar (more sugar if you want a sweeter crisp, less if not... need I tell you that?). Again, add a generous portion of cinnamon. I don't use measuring devices, but I love cinnamon and can't be restrained by such mundane and limited equipment as a tablespoon. Throw in a pinch of salt, mix the dry ingredients well, then realize you definitely want more oats and throw in an extra half cup or so. Melt 1/2 cup butter in the microwave, carefully trying to not to explode it and send butter splatters all over the inside of the microwave. Mix the butter into the dry ingredients. If if looks thoroughly hydrated and you can squish it into a ball that holds it's shape in your fist, it's probably wet enough. If not, melt a bit more butter and mix it in. If it helps, I've never had the complaint "oh, that's too much butter" but I *have* noticed it when I skimp on the butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples. Phil likes to pat it down and leave it looking neat and homogenous (read: medically uniform). I like to leave it looking lumpy and organic over the apples... as long as there's roughly the same coating everywhere, it's fine. Pop it in the oven for 45 minutes. Let cool slightly if you have so much self control, then serve; I recommend a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side/on top. I dive into my inspirations, limitations, and sources for materials, while using clips that didn't fit into the main video.Initially inspired by Scandinavian design, we take a look at my time living in Denmark, my bedroom there, and look at how I aim to recreate the cozy, minimalist style I adore in my new home. I show how I use Milanote, an organizational tool, to gather my thoughts, images, and inspirations into a cohesive plan. The design approach includes warm wood tones, natural materials like jute and plants, and a clean white and bright green palette.However, due to budget constraints and limited local resources, my final bedroom design took a shart U-turn and evolveed into a Scandinavian-inspired folk art style. I incorporated a thrifted duvet cover with vibrant colors and whimsical patterns as the centerpiece, and this broader color scheme allowed me to find matching thrifted items more easily.I also share my plans to upcycle furniture, such as painting a dresser with Norwegian Rosemaling patterns (although time constraints prevented me from completing it before leaving for a work contract).

I also managed to work my chicken scratch embroidery into the quilted pattern - you can even see a glimpse of it in the thumbnail! What about the blue knit jumper? Well, I had already made a LOT of progress on my knitting, finishing the back of the sweater I'm working on in a previous video, but now I realize that I have a question and a potential question for all the experienced knitters out there regarding color bleed, because these two yarns are VERY different colors, and I'm worried that the dark blue yarn will bleed into the white yarn when I try to block it, so any advice on that would be welcome. I'm very happy that I can continue work on the front of the sweater shortly. I also do one last Vintage Pattern of the Day session - this one is a bit outside of my normal time period (I usually prefer vintage patterns from the 30s and 40s), but these were pretty cheap and VERY fun, so when I saw them at a vintage sale for only $4, I grabbed them, and I can't wait to make them up for the summer!
