The new HelioSmart Liquification solution is housed in repurposed locations in our existing facilities. It captures the evaporating helium used to keep the magnets cold, the helium used during refills and even during the installation or decommissioning of magnets. The gas is compressed into high-pressure cylinders. After purification, the gas is transferred to the liquefied. We celebrated the inauguration with some liquid nitrogen ice cream!
“NMR spectroscopy is dependent on a reliable supply of liquid helium. Capturing and liquefying helium on site is an important step in preserving this non-renewable resource. Building this facility is another significant milestone, underscoring the importance of resource-efficient and sustainable laboratory operations.
