This is a freaking difficult game! Lots and lots of reverse has been used to make this video (to be exact: 441).
Note that there seem to be some minor bugs with the music, when a boss or stage is completed. It sometimes seems to start the wrong music and after a second, the correct music is started. Also, there are some areas with hardly any enemies. But for both things I haven't checked on the original unpatched game.Zanac EX (Compile MSX2 game from 1986) bugs a bit on MSXturboRManuel Bilderbeek2022-01-05 | This video shows a bug in Zanac-EX (at 2:01) when running it on an MSXturboR (in this case, a Panasonic FS-A1GT). You may think this is an emulation bug (this is recorded with openMSX), but I own the original game and the same MSX and it shows exactly like this on the real hardware. Did you know about this bug? I for sure did not!
Luckily the bug is not fatal: it doesn't hurt the game play at all.

This is a CD released in about 1988 for the MSX system. You would connect it to your MSX cassette input. Track 1 contains the loader, which is a normally encoded MSX program (like on a tape). I load that program.
The loader first wants you to adjust the signal (the volume button on your CD player). For that, there is a signal recorded after the program, on the same first track of the CD.
So, the program then sees the signal and in the end it is satisfied with it. Then I insert a wav with track 12 of the CD Sequential cd and the loader then actually finds the program (Burger Kill) and loads much faster than the normal cassette release!Dragon Slayer 6 - The Legend of Heroes (ドラゴンスレイヤー英雄伝説) - Falcom - 1990 - MSX2Manuel Bilderbeek2019-07-08 | The great opening demo and some game play of this fantastic RPG for MSX2 by Falcom. The game was only released in Japan, but in 1994 Oasis released an English translation, which was later enhanced by Randam and others. This is that enhanced English fan translation.
I finished the game somewhere at the end of the 90's. It comes on 4 720kB floppy disks.

In the video you can see also many bugs in this game. The most annoying is the 2 times that you get a fake/empty level instead of a bonus thing (slot machine).
About the controls: space is jump, B is fire when you have a flower and it seems that with D you can cheat: get more lives and money. I found this out during the game, hence some pauses and sudden life increments here and there.
Finally, the game seems to be unfinished. After world 2 it simply stops, although the message is the same as the one at the end of world 1: the princess is in another world...

The run shows the intro of the software, running on an emulated (openMSX) Philips VG-8230 MSX2 computer. At 2:05 I press the F1 key to continue. At the end, the software hangs up. I guess there it is supposed to actually access the CDR-X1000 with the Tele Atlas CD-ROM.

You never really get bothered by the enemies either... you have so much life that they are not very significant. At least not up to where I played. Also.... 15 levels per stage? In this video I play it on an MSX2+. On an MSX2 the sides of the screen are choppy, exactly like with Space Manbow.
The copy I have here seems to be not entirely right as you can see... a couple of bosses have corrupted graphics. Too bad!
It's probably me, but several aspects of the game I don't fully grasp: - how does the upgrade system work? I can upgrade the laser twice, but nothing happens when upgrading Missiles. And what is O for? Nothing seems to happen. - how is one supposed to finish this game without using tricks like 'reverse' which I used a lot? It's almost impossible to survive certain parts...
So, I guess I'm missing something. Comment to enlighten me!
All in all, not too bad at all for a couple of amateurs using screen 4 of the MSX2. Compare with Hydefos! Although that one is smooth at the sides without needing an MSX2+..EXOR - AurorA - 1997 - MSX2 (triplesize)Manuel Bilderbeek2017-05-19 | The second MSX game by AurorA, and yet another puzzle game.
It starts easy, but it's getting really tricky at some point! The levels are completely random generated, so you can get lucky and get an easy level. You can even get an already cleared level.... (yes, that can be considered as a bug) you'll have to use 2 EXORs to clear it again to continue :)

Firstly it is very hard to get to hit that exit in the bottom right part of this level. Also notice the bug at 4:43. I could never have made that ball... At 13:48 I give up, having no hope that the ball will ever hit that target. At 17:06 the miracle happens, so I try to bounce it back in the same direction as soon as I can to finally escape from level 3 of this game...
This annoying behaviour (very hard to really manipulate the direction of the ball, leading to very long waiting before you hit the thing you need to hit) really stopped me from playing this game further.
On top of that, the music in the levels is boring (it's way to short/repetitive). The graphics and sound effects are pretty good. The programming itself also seems quite decent.
