I packed up all the gear I could fit in my baggage and headed to Monroe, Louisiana. My wife and I were both mesmerized by Doug's recounting of his harrowing experience on that Easter Sunday in 2009. We also found out more about the flying Doug did immediately following the incident, going on to earn his Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, and King Air type ratings. If that's not enough, Doug talks about the new MGM movie, "On a Wing and a Prayer" starring Dennis Quaid as Doug White scheduled for release Easter 2023. Rusty Pilot flies again after 17 year break FS MaNiA 2017-06-03 | FS MaNiA flies the Piper Cherokee 140 solo for the first time after a 17 year lapse in currency as Pilot in Command. Deciding I was long overdue to get back in the left seat of a real world aircraft, I scheduled a few flights with a local CFI to knock the rust off of my wings. After obtaining a fresh 3rd Class Medical and about 5 hours of dual instruction the CFI signed off my BFR (Bi-annual Flight Review) which grants me full privileges to act as Pilot-in-command again. Oh happy day!This video includes highlights from my first solo flight since October of 2000. After about a 45 minute local flight and a couple of landings I picked up my first two passengers. Mrs. FS MaNiA rode right seat and even tried her hand on the yoke.I also managed to get checked out in a 2006 Cessna 172S with a Garmin G1000 based at KSUT Cape Fear Regional Jetport. Watch for a flight video in that aircraft coming soon.It's great to be back in the air again as Pilot in command. Next up will be getting recurrent with my instrument rating, however, I will still be producing flight simulation videos as well. Carenado Embraer PHENOM 300 Brazil to Wichita Leg 1, part 3 of 3 FS MaNiA 2015-10-04 | This is the first leg of our Ray Marshall Series an epic ferry delivery flight of a factory fresh Embraer EMB-505 Phenom 300 to FS Jets based in Wichita, Kansas. In this 1st leg, part 3 of 3, we are nearing completion of the 1,320 nm flight from Sao Jose dos Campos North to Belem, Brazil. We plan and fly the descent and approach into Belem from Flight Level 450 using the Garmin G1000 and various autopilot modes to manage the flight.For this first leg, we have the Navigraph expansion pack added, however, we are not using the added flight planning and Vnav capability just yet. We are keeping this a basic "direct to" flight thanks to priority handling arranged by our Brazilian handling agent. Carenado Embraer PHENOM 300 Brazil to Wichita Leg 1, part 2 of 3 FS MaNiA 2015-10-03 | This is the first leg of our Ray Marshall Series, which is an epic ferry delivery flight of FS Jet's brand new Embraer EMB-505 Phenom 300. In this 1st leg, part 2 of 3, we are taxing for departure to runway 15 at the Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil and preparing for departure on the 1,320 nm flight North to Belem, Brazil. We will complete a before takeoff checklist, set up the automatic flight control system, takeoff, and climb to Flight Level 450 using the Garmin G1000 and various autopilot modes to manage the flight.For this first leg, we have the Navigraph expansion pack added, however, we are not using the added flight planning and Vnav capability just yet. We are keeping this a basic "direct to" flight thanks to priority handling arranged by our Brazilian handling agent.
