NASA Rocket blasts off into Pulsating Aurora The Aurora Chasers 2022-03-06 | Last night we had an absolutely stellar Aurora night that easily made our top 10 list. But to top it off, we got to witness the LAMP experiment rocket blast off into the pulsating Aurora. NASA's Black Brant IX sounding rocket launched just after breakup at approximately 2:27AM on March 5th, 2022 and was successful in data collection. This data will help us test a theory about pulsating Aurora and expand our limited knowledge of it. Wild night of Northern Lights in Alaska in Real-Time The Aurora Chasers 2018-04-29 | WARNING: This video contains the raw, uncut, unedited emotional sounds of witnessing the magical Northern Lights in Alaska in real-time footage. It was a fantastic night with lots of hollars and may not be suitable for those not able to handle magical moments in the real world. Now that that's out of the way. ;-) This was such an incredible night for me, for starters, this was the first time I had my 5yo son, out under the Northern Lights since he was 2. It would also be our dog, Angus's last night chasing Aurora with us. My stunning wife was wearing her beautiful red dress to model for me. And we bumped into and spent the night shooting with my hero, and the man who inspired me to take up Aurora photography, the legendary Aurora Hunter himself, Todd Salat. There's not much more magic that can come together all in one night! Alaska Northern Lights in Super Wide-Angle real-time Video The Aurora Chasers 2017-11-17 | See the Northern Lights in real-time in this super wide-angle video from AlaskaI've had many requests for a simple video of the Northern Lights without camera movement, cuts or music. It's a hard thing to achieve as most wide angle lenses aren't fast enough for real-time Aurora footage and with a limited field of view, one must follow the ever changing action. But last Fall I did manage to spend an evening with an ultrawide lens and had good enough Aurora to pull it off. I left the camera locked with exception of one move about 2/3rds of the way in (you'll see why in the vid). This isn't fancy, but it gives you a real sense of what those dancing lights are like on a moderate night without any hoopla. Hope you enjoy.
