Hatties Haymaking In Shropshire: A Drones Perspective A Shropshire Lad 2023-10-19 | Something a little different for this oneA short video of Hattie working hard at her summer job being part of a local hay-making crew. A kind chap called Anthony Harman taught Hattie to drive and operate tractors and haymaking equipment this summer (se even passed her tractor driving test first go!) and gave her a job all summer doing various agricultural tasks. The weather summer has been 'mixed' but a little mini-heatwave opened up in September so it was a huge push to get all the haymaking done before the rains came again! Great Glen Way Part Three. Abriachan Forest to Inverness A Shropshire Lad 2022-12-17 | The last episode starts from the fantastic camp spot high up in the Forest outside Drumnadrochit called the Abriachan Forest and takes us all the way to the finish via a final stop off just above Inverness.Then we hopped on the coach back to Fort William not before falling through the door of the Wetherspoons and having far too much to drink before crashing going back to the campsite for that victory shower and a shave before the long drive back home .I can’t thank these gents enough for making this trip happen. Loch Oich to Abriachan Forest A Shropshire Lad 2022-12-02 | Having had a full wet day and night and witnessing the campsite flooding during the night we set off in search of a cooked breakfast and this we found in Fort Augustus.Then the climbing started! And boy did it not let up! Great Glen Way Part One. Fort William to Loch Oich A Shropshire Lad 2022-11-27 | Myself, Dave Roberts (Dave Outdoors) and Richard Parkes (Wild Astro) headed up to Fort William to tackle the National Scottish Trail called the Great Glen Way.This is 82 miles of hiking between Fort William and Inverness and is a mixture of some flat, some steep but ever changing Scottish scenery and weather along the way.Having had to re-write the plan due to my schoolboy error of not reading a bus timetable we got off to a bumpy start even after gaining half a day but driving through the night but we soon settled into a pace and the first night was gifted by the weather gods with a loch side camp looking towards snow-capped mountains. Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Five | Penybont to Llandridnod Wells A Shropshire Lad 2022-11-18 | Myself and Dave picked up on the Heart of Wales Line Trail as after making it to the end last year we were left with two short sections that didn’t fit with the routes that we hiked. This is one of Penybont to Llandrodnod Wells. If you are planning this trail, the railway station for Penybont is two miles down the A44 and not something I would recommend so either plan your route to avoid finishing at Penybont or do as we did and jump in a taxi!As the campsite was closed for Winter, we diverted in the vans to Fforest Fields about twenty minutes drive to Hundred House in Powys.The campsite is in a beautiful location and well worth a visit. Wild Camp along the Wales Coast Path using the Hilleberg Akto A Shropshire Lad 2021-09-02 | Back out with the legend himself @DaveOutdoors and this time we completed another section of the Wales Coast Path from Machynlleth to Aberdovey.We wild camped on the hill tops overlooking the Dovey Estuary and out to sea. Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Six (a) | Llanwrtyd Wells to Cynghordy A Shropshire Lad 2021-08-23 | Another section of the lovely Heart of Wales Line Trail but this time we went 'lightweight' Instead of carrying the camping gear on our backs we used the camper van. We parked it up first thing at Cwmcuttan Caravan site where the lovely Eileen was so helpful letting us park up at 6:30 in the morning! We then jumped on the Train up to Llanwrtyd Wells and hiked the 18kms back to the start. Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Nine | Ammanford to Llandelio A Shropshire Lad 2021-07-11 | Another section Hike of the Heart of Wales Line Trail completed and this one took us to the end point at the railway station in Llanelli. Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Seven | Llandovery to Llandeilo A Shropshire Lad 2021-06-21 | Another section completed this time we jumped ahead on the train to Llandovery so that we could make another two-day section from the trail. The weather was stunning, views were outstanding as ever. Mid -Wales gave my legs another good workout with its forever 'rolling hills'! We camped on Y Carn Goch, an Iron Age Hillfort and watched the sun set over the miles of countryside that we've already walked. What a great way to end the day!Followed by a 4:30am start to beat the hot day and get a cooked brekki in Llandeilo before catching the 10:20am train back to the cars. A big shout-out to the infamous 'Dave Outdoors' for the exceptional drone footage. Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Four | Knighton to Penybont | Day Two A Shropshire Lad 2020-08-12 | Having had a few hours sleep and even had the door open on the tent all night it was that warm, we decide to head off early as the forecast was for between 26-28 degrees!Water became an issue yet again as all the streams and ponds marked on the map were all dried up so we had to keep going in the hope of finding some!We decided to call it a day when we arrived at Penybont and will tackle the next section to Llandrindod Wells another day! We intend to tackle the whole route over the course of the year and will make these videos as we go to hopefully encourage others to do the same.This is a new walking trail that utilises the beautiful single-track railway route that runs from Shrewsbury all the way down to Swansea. #uklockdowngardencamp | Camping in the garden Easter Weekend to support our NHS A Shropshire Lad 2020-04-12 | Thanks to Dave Outdoors for kicking off the idea that us ‘outdoor types’ all spend the night under the stars in our gardens at home in solidarity to out wonderful NHS and key workers that are keeping our country going and our people safe.We all camped out in our back gardens just as if we were out on a hike in the wild and then used Facebook messenger to chat, shared images to Dave’s facebook page and had a virtual ‘pub quiz’ over a zoom partying the evening. It was a good chance to try out some kit that I had for Christmas and a new way of preparing and taking meals and most of it turned out okayHattie joined me in the challenge and put her new skills to the test by setting up her pitch all on her own.Full marks!!!

Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Three | Bucknell to Knighton A Shropshire Lad 2020-02-02 | Today myself and Dave Outdoors walked section three of the multi day route called the 'Heart of Wales Line Trail. We walked from the end of section two, Bucknell using the Heart of Wales Line train service to get to the start. Todays route is 16 km (just under 10 miles) finishing in the town of Knighton, Powys.
