It is not a question any more: radiation produces cancer, and the evidence is good all the way down to the lowest doses." ~ Dr. John Gofman

They're posted because Santa Monica, California is in a nuclear danger zone because it's downwind from PG&E's decrepit Diablo Canyon nuke plant - Diablo sits on a spot on the California coast that happens to be riddled with faults capable of producing a magnitude of ground motion for which the nuke plant is not engineered to withstand.
That means we could have our own Fukushima style nuclear catastrophe right here in California.

Jaczko was responding to a question from writer Steve Chapple about Jim Hansen's view that nuclear power is needed to avert catastrophic climate change, posed during a question and answer session following a screening of Ivy Meeropol's documentary film "Indian Point".
Among other things, the documentary focuses on the nuclear industry driven vilification and witch-hunt of Greg Jaczko who had the temerity as NRC Chairman to call for a responsible review and remediation of commercial atomic reactor deficiencies and vulnerabilities in the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

What’s making us sick? Know anyone with gut problems? This herbicide contaminates our bodies, mother’s breast milk, most of our food, drinking water, wine and beer, cotton sterile gauze, tampons, pet and livestock feed, and pollutes the environment. It has been linked to many disorders, including: birth defects, gluten intolerance, cancer, autism, dementia, obesity, dead butterflies and honeybees, crippled elk, and climate change. The World Health Organization has deemed glyphosate a potential human carcinogen — yes, it can cause cancer.
Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the world, and one of the most dangerous toxic substances ever created. For 40+ years, it has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for widespread home, aquatic, and agricultural use! Right now, all over the nation, this poison is being sprayed on our food crops, and at our homes, schools, playgrounds, parks, roadsides, hiking trails and forests. Such practices are unethical, unsafe, and probably unlawful.
In this video, Stephen C. Frantz, PhD, reviews the origins of this extremely noxious chemical and its effects that fall beyond the normal realm of toxicity. Glyphosate negatively affects all life forms, including our gut and the soil microbiomes, and should never have been unleashed in the environment — watch the video to learn why it must be banned, and why growing and consuming only organically grown foods can save you, your family and animals, and the planet.
On May 14, 2016, as part of the Malibu Democratic Club’s Second Saturday Series at the Malibu, California public library, Dr. Frantz presented a compelling case for banning all use of glyphosate.
Dr. Stephen Frantz (Principal, Global Environmental Options, LLC (GEO) is a pathobiologist who conducts advisory services and research regarding zoonotic disease species (e.g., rodents, cockroaches, and bats), their interactions with humans, and related environmental toxicology (e.g., 2nd generation anticoagulants, glyphosate-based herbicides, etc.), with an emphasis on integrated pest management (IPM) policies and program design. GEO’s central goal is the management of unacceptable species’ direct and indirect contact with humans and domestic animals through sustainable, ecologically sound intervention strategies based on animal behavioral ecology, building design, and human behavior. Dr. Frantz received his Ph.D. in Pathobiology from The Johns Hopkins University, helped pioneer the concept of urban IPM in the early 1970s, has authored many articles on IPM and related subjects, and has lectured, conducted scientific research, and consulted nationally and internationally for more than four decades. Non-formal education of technicians, clients and the public is an important aspect of Dr. Frantz’ work. Clients have included: Amanat Al-Assima (Baghad, Iraq), Battery Park City Authority (NYC), Battery Park City Parks Conservancy (NYC), Bio-Integral Resource Center (Berkeley, CA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Atlanta, GA), National Center for Healthy Housing (Columbia, MD), National Geographic Channel (NYC), New York State Office of General Services (Albany, NY), Pan American Health Organization (Port of Spain, Trinidad), University at Albany School of Public Health (Rensselaer, NY), Swiss National Television (Zurich, Switzerland), The Architects Collaborative (Cambridge, MA), U.S. EPA, U.S. National Park Service, World Health Organization (Kuwait & Germany), and World Trade Center Memorial Foundation (NYC).

[The transcript is continued in comment section - due to limitations imposted by YouTube on video description length.]
Master of Compassion, God of Compassion, send your blessings to Muhammad Ali, and send your blessings to all who mourn for him, and send your blessings for all the millions and millions of people who mourn for him all over this planet. Amen
I come here speaking as a representative of American Jews. And to say that American Jews played an important role of solidarity with the African-American struggles in this country. And that we today stand in solidarity with the Islamic community in this country and all around the world.
We will not tolerate politicians or anyone else putting down Muslims and blaming Muslims for a few people.
We know what it’s like to be demeaned. We know what it’s like to have a few people who act against the highest visions of our tradition to then be identified as the value of the entire tradition. And one of the reasons that we at Tikkun Magazine, a magazine of liberal and progressive Jews but also an Interfaith magazine have called upon the United States government to stand up to the part of the Israeli government that is oppressing Palestinians is that we as Jews understand that our commitment is to recognize that God has created everyone in God’s image. And that everyone Is equally precious. And that means the Palestinian people as well as all other people on the planet. I know the people of Louisville have a special relationship to Muhammad Ali. And I had a personal relationship in the 1960's when both of us were Indicted by the federal government for our various stands against the war in Vietnam. I want to say that although he was cheered on as the Heavyweight Champion of the World, you know the truth is that — all honor to him — but Heavyweight Champions of the World come and go. And sports heroes come and go. There was something about Muhammad Ali that was different. At the key moment when he had that recognition, he used it to stand up to an immoral war and say, "No, I won’t go."
And it’s for that reason that tens of millions of Americans who don’t particularly care about boxing do care about Muhammad Ali, because he was a person who was willing to risk a great honor that he got and a great fame that he got to stand up for the beliefs that he had - To speak truth to power when the rest of the people around him said, "No, no, you’re going to lose your championship." And it was taken away from him for five years. But he stood up, and was willing to take that kind of a risk because of that kind of moral integrity.
So I want to say how do we honor Muhammad Ali? And the answer is the way to honor Muhammad Ali is to be Muhammad Ali today.

Humanity is on the verge of its darkest hour or its greatest moment.
The consequences of the technological revolution are about to hit hard: unemployment will spike as new technologies replace labor in the manufacturing, service, and professional sectors of an economy that is already struggling. The end of work as we know it will hit at the worst moment imaginable: as capitalism fosters permanent stagnation, when the labor market is in decrepit shape, with declining wages, expanding poverty, and scorching inequality. Only the dramatic democratization of our economy can address the existential challenges we now face. Yet, the US political process is so dominated by billionaires and corporate special interests, by corruption and monopoly, that it stymies not just democracy but progress.
The great challenge of these times is to ensure that the tremendous benefits of technological progress are employed to serve the whole of humanity, rather than to enrich the wealthy few. Robert W. McChesney and John Nichols, authors of People Get Ready: The Fight Against a Jobless Economy and a Citizenless Democracy, argue that the United States needs a new economy in which revolutionary technologies are applied to effectively address environmental and social problems and used to rejuvenate and extend democratic institutions. Based on intense reporting, rich historical analysis, and deep understanding of the technological and social changes that are unfolding, they propose a bold strategy for democratizing our digital destiny before it's too late and unleashing the real power of the Internet, and of humanity.

PETITION TO RESTORE "SOMETHING'S HAPPENING!' TO SIX HOURS
Here's an excerpt from Kim Kaufman's supplemental report:
"The Chief Financial Officer has been at Pacifica for less than two months and said he hasn’t reviewed most of the station’s budgets - but suggested they may be unnecessary and can be replaced by "innovative thinking." He can’t possibly be familiar with all our operations in this short time and yet he’s decided our business model is no good. And that he and Lydia [Brazon], without informing the board, have put out proposals for alternate funding. But he’s not prepared to get into specifics yet.
"Such “innovative thinking” may be underwriting as was discussed at the last National Finance meeting. This seems to me to be a straw man - a sham argument set up to be defeated. It seems odd that after two years of the national board majority claiming how fantastic they were doing because they were in charge, now suddenly, there’s a financial disaster with the only choice being presented is to take underwriting. And the board saying nothing while the CFO says publicly that listener support should be dismissed as reliable or even desirable."
