Lee-am 2022-12-24 | Last weekend the ice was finally thick enough for us to go ice skating again, something that used to be possible every winter here. but with the years.. it more or less became a novelty. so when the opportunity arises, the Dutch drop everything and grab their skates! or in our case: Ice Skating Like It's 1835!

Lee-am 2022-12-06 | We went on a 7 day transatlantic vintage crossing on the Queen Mary II, also known as A Fascinating Voyage with Dandy Wellington by @ahoyvintagecruises2455

Join us as we embark Cunard's Queen Mary II in Southampton in England, to sail for 7 days on some "rough" seas all the way to NY in the United states. Not everything went according to plan, but we made the best of what was thrown at us. Nevertheless, we had an absolute blast hanging out with our friends, old and new. one arrived in New York, Angela joined us for a day of fabric shopping in the famous garment district.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this cruise such a blast! Especially Dandy & Mandy.

Our friend Birthe Weijkamp who is a fashion curator, dress historian and vintage collector, had her very own exhibit containing fashion from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s at Museum Bussemakerhuis. featuring top pieces from her huge private collection.
The exhibit was part of a local fashion event. As the big finale there was a fashionshow narrated by Birthe. And I walked the runway! Birthe asked me to model for her! Prior to the show, we got a private tour of the exhibit by the queen of vintage herself.

We Played Victwardian Tourists For A Week

Lee-am 2022-08-06 | 4 whole days our friends and us, played Victwardian (Victorian+Edwardian) tourists!
What originally started as a one night stay with our friend Birthe at the Duin & Kruidberg estate, got a little out of hand. Eventually more friends joined and more days were added. Birthe curate a packed but awesome itinerary for us. with even a special trip to the costume depot of the Kunstmuseum. We had so much fun hanging out with our friends, we promptly forgot to film in & outros, heck we even forgot to bring the camera to our last museum visit. As you can imagine MANY pictures were taken. which you can find on our Instagrams. many thanks to Niklas (Vintagebursche) for making a beautiful trailer.
On our first day, when we visited the Rijksmuseum. we didn't dress up. this was due to it being liberation day, and thus extra busy in Amsterdam, which didn't make us feel very comfortable traveling through Amsterdam in full kit.

We Went To A Victorian Weekend In Bath | Hosted By @priorattire

Lee-am 2022-06-05 | We went to @priorattire's Victorian ball, But It turned out, it was a full Victorian weekend!!!
It was jam packed with loads of activities. we had a twilight stroll on Friday evening, a visit to the Fashion museum on Saturday morning, dance rehearsal in the afternoon with the actual ball that evening. On Sunday we had a lovely brunch at the Pump rooms followed by boating on the Lower Avon river. We had so much fun, and loved meeting so many old & new friends.
We can't wait for next year!

I Recycled An Old Opera Costume | La Traviata goes Belle Epoque

Lee-am 2021-11-25 | You don't always have to make a whole new costume, sometime you can re-cycle, re-purpose or re-use old ones. Like I Recycled An Old Opera Costume from the Opera La Traviata I bought several years ago. This La Traviata bodice is set in the 1850's, but will be repurposed into a Belle Epoque one.

Hands Across The Sea.
Composed by John Phillip Sousa, performed by The United States Naval Academy Band.

The march was written in 1899. When the march premiered the same year at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the audience insisted that it be repeated three times. The march is "addressed to no particular nation, but to all of America's friends abroad."
Sousa prefaced the sheet music's score with a quotation from the English diplomat John Hookham Frere: "A sudden thought strikes me; let us swear eternal friendship." The march was composed in the wake of the Spanish–American War and is idealistic, in addition to patriotic, in nature.

Come join us on a impromptu Fashion exhibit visit in Bocholt, Germany.
We are taking you along to the exhibit: Mythos Neue Frau at the Textile museum. that used to be a spinning mill. It shows how fashion and clothing reacted to the rapid social and economic changes in the first three decades of the 20th century. Over 130 original costumes and many other historical objects from everyday life as well as numerous photographs and contemporary film material bring the period between 1900 and 1930 to life. Classics such as the so-called “Stresemann” and Charleston dresses are represented as well as the reform dresses of the 1910s, sportswear for women and a fancy driver's coat.

Challenge Accepted! | One Day Make History Bound

Lee-am 2020-07-02 | We got challenged by my friend @KirileeCosplay to do a one day make... Challenge Accepted!
It took me a while but finally found the time to do one. I have been wanting to do a History Bound item for a long time, since my everyday clothing interest keeps going further back to the early 20th century. So I started out with a walking skirt from the Keystone system. that i sort of styled to be a mashup of the Edwardian and early 20's style.

Technically I managed to do it in 1 day, if you count 24 hours.... but it was basically spread over 3 days.
1.) because I needed to draw the pattern first to know how much fabric I needed.
2.) because the fabric needed to be pre washed and airdried. and
3.) because the skirt's seams were on the bias, and thus they need a minimum of 12 hours to "hang out" before you can make a levelled hem...

Batuu Bounding | A Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Inspired Jacket | PIP Ep 13

Lee-am 2020-06-25 | Disneyland and Disney world recently expanded their theme parks with a Star Wars themed extension known as Star Wars Galaxy's Edge and this extension is a location within the Star Wars universe, on a planet called Batuu.
The idea of Galaxy's Edges is that you step right into the Star Wars universe, like it’s a living, breathing place. So Melchior and I designed our own outfits that will fit in the Star Wars universe so we will be fully emerged when we visit Batuu but without breaking the rules.
so for this particular Batuu bound i will be making a jacket, and the idea is that with the jacket i could turn any outfit into a Batuu Bound.
