In this tutorial, I show 6 different ways how to pixelate a 3D game in Godot 4.5. From simple engine resolution scaling to shaders, subviewports, and canvas effects, we go step by step through multiple techniques so you can decide what works best for your game.
This video is not about getting perfect shaders. It’s about understanding the different approaches, when to use them, and what trade-offs each method has. Some solutions work best as a full art style, others are better as temporary visual effects.
You can download the full example project and follow along. Each method lives in its own scene so you can easily compare results and tweak things yourself.

#gamedev #prototype #godotRestarting vs Finishing Your Game? - Solo Game Dev Tips & TricksChap.C Games2025-09-22 | Making a game on your own is exciting, but also frustrating. One of the hardest parts is knowing whether you should keep pushing forward with your project, or take a step back and start over. Restarting can feel like wasted time, but sometimes it’s the only way to actually save your game in the long run.
In this video I talk about the tricky balance between redoing your work and pushing ahead. I share what I’ve learned from restarting my own projects more than once:
🔥 Why we restart (outgrowing old code, self-doubt, lack of preparation) 🤯 How to deal with scope creep and shifting ambitions ⚙️ The value of loosely coupled code and modular design 📝 Why writing things down and sharing ideas with other devs makes such a difference
If you’re a solo game developer (or just starting out), this might help you avoid endless restarts and keep moving forward.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: when did you decide to restart, and when did you keep going? Leave a comment below.
In this video, I’m prototyping and testing a simplified version of my art styles. I’ve implemented an orthographic camera and applied 3D pixelation shaders to give my 2.5D Godot game a more unified look and feel. I’ve also made some changes to the story and updated a few character designs.

I wanted to talk about a recent viral tweet on X.com that sparked a lot of controversy in the game dev world. It showcased an AI-generated proof of concept for a retro-style fantasy FPS set in a highly immersive, moody environment.
Some developers slammed it as AI slop or even the death of creativity, while others found it inspiring and full of potential for rapid prototyping and worldbuilding.
In this video, I’ll share my thoughts on the future of AI in game development, the ethics of AI-generated content, and where I think the line is between innovation and imitation. I'm really curious to hear what you think too, drop a comment below!
#gamedev #drama #godotEnemy Spawner and Lockdown Barrier System in My 2.5D Platformer Game - Godot DevlogChap.C Games2025-07-22 | In this Godot devlog, I showcase a custom barrier system, also known as a Lockdown Zone, Zone-Based Encounter System, you get what I mean!
II am using Godot's Area3D node to create a lockdown mechanic in my 3D platformer game. When the player enters a zone, enemy spawners generate enemies, and a collision barrier activates to block progress. The lockdown barrier only disappears once all enemies are defeated. This system adds tension and pacing to gameplay and is fully implemented with Godot 4’s Area3D and scripting tools.
If you're working on enemy spawning systems, barrier mechanics, or just want to see how to create a combat lockdown mechanic in Godot, this devlog is for you. Enjoy, and feel free to drop feedback!

We apply the NavigationRegion3D directly to our GridMap-based world, allowing the navigation system to understand the layout of walkable areas. Then, we add a NavigationAgent3D to an enemy character so it can move around the world using simple, built-in pathfinding.
This is part of our ongoing Godot 4 game project and a great starting point if you’re building an indie 3D game and want to give your enemies or NPCs some basic movement logic.

In this devlog, I'm finally implementing the core combat system that will define the entire gameplay loop. Watch as I bring my characters to life (and death!) using Godot 4.4
So, am I happy with this system? Is it the final one? Absolutely not. There is so much to improve, but this is a crucial first step. It's the starting point we need to begin testing, iterating, and making the combat truly special.
The combat is based on:
🧠 LimboAI Behavior Tree AI: for more complex and reactive combat encounters. 💥 Knockback & Stagger System: See the implementation of both a light stagger for minor hits and a heavy stagger for powerful blows, adding weight and impact to every attack. ❤️ Health & UI: The classic hearts system! 🔊 First Pass Audio Manager: I'm laying the groundwork for the game's audio with an initial audio manager to handle sound effects and make combat more immersive.
