Even if no one wants to watch this one, the fact that people wanted to watch my first weird little fan-vid of the first Outlast game was hugely inspiring. So thank you to everyone who commented or liked my previous OL video. Now about the game…I like this game. No, it’s not as good as the first and especially not as good as Whistleblower, but I like it. I was scared, I was creeped out, I was disturbed – it was a very good horror experience. One thing I LOVED in this game was the seamless transitions between reality and Blake’s hallucinations – it was awesome crawling through a log and coming out an air vent. It was trippy and creepy and really helped to hammer home the fact that Blake is LOSING it!The game went for shock value over actual atmosphere and it was too much a lot of the times. The school sections were the most effective because it was more subtle. It would throw some stuff at you yes, but it was so quiet and still compared to Temple Gate that it worked very well. Not to mention that is down-right horrifying because Blake’s actual trauma was very, very real. I was about 70% done with this before I found out that Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne played a couple together in a movie…I could not think of anyone to cast for Marta, Nick or Laird which is why they are absent though I purposefully left out Loutermilch. This game is incredible, probably the best horror game I’ve ever played. The story is great as well with a lot of details and world building, and even though the protagonists are voiceless their journal entries allow us glimpses at their characters we can get to know and understand. Certainly not for everyone, it is very graphic with a lot of sexual violence beside the normal ripping heads off violence. So, uh, yeah, not for everyone. Star Wars time. I give you a very short, very shitty video about a couple I didn’t want to ship but I fell in love. Damn it. I just want to actually finish what I’ve been working on for months but NO I have to go and get inspiration for completely new videos! :(I mean, at least I’m editing but I just want to finish something that I started awhile ago. Well, here’s a Star Wars video, I haven’t done anything soly SW related since April I think, so I guess it was about time I actually worked with the series again.As for Rogue One, I actually really liked it. (SPOILERS!) It’s not a perfect movie, it has flaws and some stupid moments (mind-rape tentacle monster!?! WTF?!) , but it felt genuine. I would say it’s actually in my top 3 SW movies just because I loved the look at different characters. Sure there were a few small parts by Tarkin, Vader, Bail and Mon Mothma, but it was still about Rogue One. It was about Jyn, Cassian, Kaytoo, Chirrut, Baze and Bodhi - not the other characters who have already had three or more movies so far. They didn’t all get equal development but they were all entertaining and their sacrifices had impact. I will admit to tearing up a bit when Chirrut died, he was my favorite (I adore Donnie Yen! And he was perfect in the movie!) I fully expected several of the characters to die, but I am impressed that Disney had the guts to kill ‘em all, I thought at least one would survive but nope. I hate it and like it at the same time. I am thoroughly happy with the film however and am looking forward to seeing it several more times. I do have to mention that Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed are freaking gorgeous! I bought an X-Box One for this game because I knew my computer would melt if I tried to play on PC. I’ll be honest that it certainly isn’t a perfect game, but I freaking LOVE IT! Story-driven games are my favorite and the plot for this one was very intriguing and very convoluted but in a way that made for a fun play through. This game is also freaking GORGEOUS! This is the first Next-Gen game i've played and it looks incredible. When time freezes, the level of detail is amazing, I could just wander around and look at things. I love branching storylines in games also, I am currently working my way through my second play through with the opposite decisions and I'm really curious how it will change some aspects of the story. The episodes that were interlaced with the game were interesting, not amazing, but it was fun to get an idea of what was going on away from Jack and gave the game a sense of scale and not just one man's journey. I really hope they make an Alan Wake sequel now, that 'Return' teaser was just mean if we don't get an actual game. Probably some more GMVs in the future, branching out a little. Star Wars was fun, a carbon copy of a New Hope but still fun. I adored the new characters and they held it together for me. Also, Oscar Issac has absolutely no right to be that pretty. Kylo was the character that surprised me the most, not his origins which was pretty predictable, but his personality. He wasn’t this dark brooding, no-faced, perfectly trained killing machine. He was a an overzealous jerk with temper tantrums who got by with his strength in the force but no real training because there was simply no one else who could match him. Once he did find someone who could match him he got pulverized. A pleasant change for a SW villain, and I surprisingly enjoyed him. As long as he doesn’t touch Leia. Original Sin (Fan-Made Marvel Trailer) TatyanaOracle 2015-07-20 | A woman wakes up with no memory of who she is, and is told that her name is Erica Holstein and she is an agent of SHIELD. When she starts to remember people and places that don’t match with what she had been told about herself, she first starts to doubt her own mind, then the people around her. She is confronted by the HYDRA agent, Brock Rumlow, who tries to convince her that she is really Sinthea Schmidt, the daughter of the Red Skull. I can’t tell you how many times I gave up on this only to go back to it a week later. I can’t believe I actually got this done. I love Sin, she’s so completely batshit and psychotic, I would absolutely love to see her in the MCU. Probably never will, but hey, a girl can dream. The comic where she’s brainwashed and Crossbones’ does the whole messed-up cognitive recalibration is actually the first I read with her in it. With SHIELD brainwashing her, it’s a nice twist on the whole Winter Soldier thing with HYDRA brainwashing him. I dunno, I just want to see her show up and would love if they did the memory storyline. I’ve Got No Strings ~ Mad Max: Fury Road TatyanaOracle 2015-07-07 | “…my world is fire and blood…”SEE THIS MOVIE!So… this movie… I know I tend to get over hyped and excited about movies but for real, this movie is freaking amazing. I thought it looked stupid and refused to see it when it came out, so my siblings saw it, said it was fantastic and then I started reading reviews. I finally saw it last week and… wow. This movie is a masterpiece. I was horribly wrong. Furiosa is my hero and she has very quickly become one of my all-time favorite fictional characters. The sisters, the badass biker ladies, Max, Nux were all so well done! I’m utterly amazed at how well made this movie is. Also, I have to say that the sound editing is some of the best I’ve ever hear. Hold You in My Arms (Wanda/Vision) TatyanaOracle 2015-05-08 | “…we all know all beauty will die…”Spoilers for Age of Ultron!I made this at 2am. It sucks. But I’m posting it anyway cause I probably won’t have anything else for awhile. Also I can’t believe my first post-AoU vid is not a Clint vid…Well, back to shipping couples with 30secs worth of shared screen time… Just like old times. I know these two are (were) a couple in the comics but I had absolutely no intention of shipping them. Then I saw the movie. The way she was looking at him when he was talking to Thor and then that look when he rescued her! Also, an android has absolutely no right to be that attractive (Don’t judge me; you’re thinking the same thing!) and the android and the little witch shouldn’t have had the best chemistry in the entire movie.Don’t get me wrong, I quite like Clint and Laura but dear GOD did I not get Bruce/Natasha. I need to be clear: I don’t not like them because I ship Clintasha. I am a multi-shipper- other ships do not bother me and I really haven’t been that invested in them for over a year (Bobbi/Clint has kinda taking over, sorry) but that said… Other than the scene at the bar which was really cute and made me kinda like them, everything else was PAINFUL. Natasha was acting like was a love struck teenager and Bruce showed no interested in her despite Natasha practically throwing herself at him. Then they wanted to run away and abandon the team. UHHHH… I honestly prefer no romance in action movies because it is almost always detrimental to the film. So few of my ships have ever gone cannon I really don’t get invested in them actually having to be confirmed cannon to enjoy them anyway. AUs always!As for the actual film: I almost loved it. The story was fun and the characters were great but it suffered from too much going on, a ridiculous romantic sub-plot and the lack of any real sense of threat to the main characters because we all know they’re gonna be back in later films. I actually guessed Pietro’s death months before the film came out and wasn’t to surprised he died. Everyone talked about how Wanda would impact the MCU but not a mention of Pietro, so, probably a red-shirt. Sad, but not surprised. Clint! Clint was fabulous and I’m more then fine with them taking the ultimates route since what little character he had before was pretty much all ultimates anyway. Also he married Velma :D The fact that he had an important role, great lines and somewhat of a back story makes me so incredibly happy. He’s human, he gets hurt, he makes mistakes and that’s what makes him my favorite, he might not be able to go toe-to-toe with a god but he’ll sure as hell try. The Vision was also fabulous. I could easily see him becoming my favorite (watch out Clint!) well, maybe. When he looked over a Thor then made his own cape, that scene made me absolutely love him. I have a horrible feeling though that Thanos is gonna rip that infinity stone out of his forehead… Actually, as much as I would HATE it, that’d make for a great dramatic scene. The Twins were fantastic, and I adored this Quicksilver. Too bad he died and is probably the one to suffer the only permanent death for Marvel. Most likely to avoid the confrontation with Fox even though this Pietro was far more grounded and not a God-Mode sue like the other one. Wanda was also wonderful; I loved her eeriness and creepiness in the beginning and that horror-style editing they used on her at first with little jump-cuts. Ah, it was awesome!Ultron was a fun villain, I wish he had snarked a little less and they had made him more menacing. But, everyone has to snark, because Whedon. Thor was fun, his little side-mission should have absolutely been cut as it dragged down the film. I don’t care if it sets up his next film, we’re all gonna see it anyway. Natasha’s back story was very interesting and I wanted to see more of that! Not… the other stuff. Cap was great. Tony was great. Bruce was okay (I’m sorry, I just don’t find the Hulk interesting)The NEW AVENGERS! YES!! SAM IS AN AVENGER!!! And Rhodey, Wanda and Vision too. This new team is awesome. The sheer amount of time I spent waiting for Vegas to un-freeze or reload after crashing for the umpteenth time almost drove me mad. He eventually mentors Clint Barton, teaching him to become an archer and a criminal. During a bank heist, Clint accidently injures his brother, Barney and has a change of heart. Buck turns on him and shoots him three times and leaves. Buck spends the next several years as a hired assassin, gaining a reputation. We Own It ~ Clint Barton (Hawkeye) TatyanaOracle 2015-03-08 | “I never fear death or dying, I only fear never trying…”It’s really weird but really refreshing to actually be editing with NEW Hawkeye footage (a whopping 15 secs worth, but new nonetheless). It’s been almost 3 years since the first Avengers came out and since then nothing. Absolutely nothing. So, this is a lot of fun to make without having to crib from other films.
