Trijets are more efficient and cheaper than four-engine aircraft, as the engines are the most expensive part of the plane and having more engines consumes more fuel, particularly if quadjets and trijets share engines of similar power, making the trijet configuration more suited to a mid-size airliner compared to larger. Falcon tri-jets provide slower, safer approach and landing speeds. Their three-engine configuration gives peace of mind on long routes over water and uninhabited areas.

Most amazing turboprop sound ! It cost around $8 millions brand new. The Beechcraft King Air is a line of American utility aircraft produced by Beechcraft. Known as the most sought after turboprop in business aviation, King Air planes are recognized for their iconic design, high safety records, and versatility. It's also quite easy to fly, especially with the autothrottle to absorb some of the work for a single pilot. She could fly maximum range (subject to headwinds, high altitude, hot temperatures, or higher capacity) of 1739 miles and a maximum speed of 368 mph.
King Air line comprises a number of twin-turboprop models that have been divided into two families.
The Model 90 and 100 series developed in the 1960s are known as King Airs, while the later T-tail Model 200 and 300 series were originally marketed as Super King Airs, with the name "Super" being dropped by Beechcraft in 1996 (although it is still often used to differentiate the 200 and 300 series King Airs from their smaller stablemates).
The King Air was the first aircraft in its class and was produced continuously from 1964 to 2021. It outsold all of its turboprop competitors combined. It has recently faced competition from jet aircraft such as the Embraer Phenom 100, Honda HA-420 HondaJet and Cessna Citation Mustang; as well as from newer turboprop aircraft including the Piaggio P180 Avanti, and single-engine Piper Malibu Meridian, Pilatus PC-12, and Socata TBM.
Nearly 6,000 Beechcraft King Airs of 17 variants have been sold since the product line was introduced in 1964, making this the most successful series of twin turbine-powered business aircraft ever built.

The aircraft’s long range allows it to operate without the need to refuel at the airfield destination. Furthermore, for humanitarian operations, the C-27J is the only aircraft in its class with the capability to adjust the cargo floor, both in height and inclination, to facilitate loading/unloading operations where no external support, such as a forklift or cargo loader, is available. Finally, since the Spartan is qualified to perform short take-offs and landings (STOL) on snowy, sandy and unprepared airfields, we can reach a wide range of airfields around the world, as we’ve done over many years. Compared with other military transport aircraft in its class, the C-27J has the best descent and climb rate (4,000 and 2,500 ft/min) and can also perform 3g tactical maneuvers, minimizing its approach phase and reaching a safe altitude more quickly in high threat scenarios.

The Cessna CitationJet/CJ/M2 series are light business jets built by Cessna and part of the Citation family. Launched in October 1989, the Model 525 first flight was on April 29, 1991, Federal Aviation Administration certification was awarded on October 16, 1992, and first delivery happened on March 30, 1993.
The Cessna Model 525 CitationJet is a six-seat light semi-monocoque business jet with a cantilever wing and pressurized cabin. The aircraft’s structure improves on tried and tested elements from earlier Cessna Citation iterations.
The forward fuselage of the Cessna CitationJet is based on the Citation II’s, with the internal diameter of the passenger cabin being kept at 58 inches, much like the original Citation I. Cabin length on the other hand was shortened by 1 ft 6 in, with the loss of horizontal space being compensated by the lowered central aisle to add headroom and a rather spacious feeling for what factually is a small jet.
The Model 525 was announced to the public at the 1989 National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention in Atlanta. Priced at $2.4 million, the company estimated sales of around 1000 units within the first ten years of production. The flight-testing program began in 1991, with FAA certification being completed by October 1992. At the end of the same year, the first CitationJets were delivered.

I'm specially recorded this footage with Sennheiser mke 440 compact stereo shotgun microphone for you to enjoy this beautiful sound.
The Italian-built turboprop has some unconventional ideas to the conservative world of business aviation. The unusual design translates to greater efficiency, up to 40 percent better than other airplanes in its class.
Piaggio's design has been around since it first flew in 1986, but the aircraft struggled to find its way into production. Eventually the airplane was saved by an investment team led by Piero Ferrari. Today the P180 is seen as one of the most efficient and innovative business airplane on the market. And it's no surprise the Piaggio is the airplane used by Ferrari's Formula 1 operation.
The two rear facing turbine engines push the P180 to a top speed of more than 450 miles per hour. This is more than 100 mph faster than a similar sized turboprop aircraft and even faster than several jets in its class. And because the airplane is using more efficient propellers instead of jet engines in addition to all of the aerodynamic efficiencies, it burns less fuel as well.
The P180 Avanti II can climb at the rate of 14.98m/s. The maximum and cruise speeds of the aircraft are 732km/h and 593km/h respectively. The range is 2,592km and the service ceiling is 12,500m. The aircraft weighs around 3,402kg and its maximum take-off weight is 5,239kg.
The aircraft is fitted with Dowty hydraulically retractable tricycle-type landing gear with a twin-wheeled nose unit and single-wheeled main units. The wheels are fitted with Goodrich hydraulically activated multidisc carbon brakes.
The short-field performance of the aircraft – 869m take-off distance over 50ft obstacle and 872m landing distance over 50ft obstacle – allows the Avanti to fly to smaller airfields close to a wide number of destinations.

Remarkable power from General Electric GE9X jet engines. Perfect demonstration to illustrate how nimble the aircraft is. She was designed to carry hundreds of tonnes of people, cargo and fuel on one engine. A twinjet or twin-engine jet is a jet aircraft powered by two engines. A twinjet is able to fly well enough to land with a single working engine, making it safer than a single-engine aircraft in the event of failure of an engine. Fuel efficiency of a twinjet is better than that of aircraft with more engines.

#aircraft #gatwickairport #boeingQueen Platinum Jubilee Royal Air Force flypast over central LondonTopfelya2022-06-02 | Today, the Royal Air Force had the honour to participate in a special tri-Service flypast over Buckingham Palace celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s. The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. A flypast is a ceremonial or honorific flight by a group of aircraft or a single aircraft. The term flypast is used in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. In the United States, the terms flyover and flyby are used. Nation is preparing to go all-out with their celebrations
My favourite formation was a Voyager painted in a United Kingdom livery and four RAF Marham-based F-35B Lightnings off its wings.
70 aircraft took part in the aerial formation from the Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Navy and British Army. These were are Wildcat HMA Mk2 from RNAS Yeovilton lead the formation followed by two Merlin Mk4s of RNAS Culdrose. Three Puma HC2s from RAF Benson were next, with three RAF Odiham-based Chinooks rounding of the rotary contingent of the flypast.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) were followed and is led by the Avro Lancaster, two Spitfires and a pair of Hurricanes.
A Phenom T1 from RAF Cranwell was next closely behind with a quartet of RAF Valley-based Texan T1s on its wings.
A set of three RAF Brize Norton-based C-130J Hercules , followed by an A400M Atlas and a C-17 Globemaster III.
RAF Lossiemouth-based Poseidon MRA1, followed by a RC-135W Rivet Joint from RAF Waddington.
A Brize Norton-based Voyager follows with a Typhoon FGR.Mk 4 off its port wing and a F-35B Lightning positioned off its starboard side. The former is based at RAF Coningsby, while the latter is from RAF Marham.
Four Hawk T2s from RAF Valley followed from behind.
A large formation of 15 Typhoon FGR.Mk 4s from RAF Lossiemouth and Coningsby marked the penultimate component of the flypast.
Fittingly, nine RAF Scampton-based Red Arrows Hawk T1s with red, white and blue smoke will round off the display

The Port of Dover is a cross-channel ferry, cruise terminal, maritime cargo and marina facility situated in Dover, Kent, south-east England. It is the nearest English port to France, at just 34 kilometres (21 mi) away, and is one of the world's busiest maritime passenger ports, with 11.7 million passengers, 2.6 million lorries, 2.2 million cars and motorcycles and 80,000 coaches passing through it in 2017, and with an annual turnover of £58.5 million a year. This contrasts with the nearby Channel Tunnel, the only fixed link between the island of Great Britain and the European mainland, which now handles an estimated 20 million passengers and 1.6 million trucks per year. The modern port facility features a large artificial harbour constructed behind stone piers and a defensive concrete breakwater. The port is divided into two main sections: the Eastern Docks serve as the main cross-channel ferry terminal, while the Western Docks contain a cruise ship terminal and a yacht marina along with cargo facilities.
The Port of Dover has a long history and possesses several listed buildings and structures. The port is owned and operated by the Dover Harbour Board, a statutory corporation formed by Royal Charter in 1606 by King James I. Most of the board members of the Dover Harbour Board are appointees of the Department for Transport. The port has its own private police force, the Port of Dover Police. The current port traffic volumes and urban population categorise Dover as a Large-Port Town.

#8K #storm #shipsThis is how Pilots do perfect smooth landingTopfelya2022-05-09 | Don't take it seriously ! This is just a bit of fun !
Recently I've been plane-spotting at Manchester airport and saw these two landings within 3 minutes of each other. Ryanair Boeing 737 landed and soon after , British Airways Airbus a320 did a bit of bumpy landing. Same weather conditions , different pilots , two different airplanes. Lots of an Avgeeks says that Ryanair pilots never do land smoothly but not in this case ! I'm sure that both pilots are very professionals.

Developed to supplement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retains the 707 fuselage cross-section and nose with two underwing turbofans. Envisioned in 1964, the initial 737-100 made its first flight in April 1967 and entered service in February 1968 with Lufthansa. The lengthened 737-200 entered service in April 1968. It evolved through four generations, offering several variants for 85 to 215 passengers.

Filmed in 4K resolution.Busy Airport Life on single runwayTopfelya2022-04-11 | Very impressive 4k video. This is London Gatwick Airport . The footage was filmed in early February 2022 few days before storm Eunice covered Great Britain.
Gatwick Airport also known as London Gatwick IATA: LGW, ICAO: EGKK, is a major international airport near Crawley, West Sussex, England, 29.5 miles (47.5 km) south of Central London.
Gatwick opened as an aerodrome in the late 1920s; it has been in use for commercial flights since 1933. The airport has two terminals, the North Terminal and the South Terminal, which cover areas of 98,000 m2 (117,000 sq yd) and 160,000 m2 (190,000 sq yd) respectively. It operates as a single-runway airport, using a main runway with a length of 3,316 m (10,879 ft). A secondary runway is available but, due to its proximity to the main runway, can only be used if the main runway is not in use. In 2018, 46.1 million passengers passed through the airport, a 1.1% increase compared with 2017
Gatwick operates as a single-runway airport although it has two runways; the northern runway (08L/26R) can only be used when the main runway (08R/26L) is out of use for any reason.
The airport is a base for scheduled airlines British Airways (BA), EasyJet, Wizz Air, and charter operators such as TUI Airways. By late 2015, EasyJet flew over 100 routes from Gatwick with a fleet of more than 60 aircraft.
The South Terminal has 32 gates. The North Terminal has 33 gates, including one that can support an Airbus A380.
In 2015, Gatwick became the first single-runway airport to handle more than 40 million passengers annually.Helicopter Takes off Backwards from London Heliport. Can airplanes fly in heavy winds ? In summary, it's perfectly safe to fly in strong wind. The aircraft can handle it, and the pilots are well trained to do so. Just expect it to be a little bumpy during take-off and landing. When the wind and weather are within legal and safe parameters, a pilot is allowed to fly the plane while there's a hurricane going on. They just have to make sure certain conditions are met before they take off.
Can planes fly in 60 mph winds ? There is no single maximum wind limit as it depends on the direction of wind and phase of flight. A crosswind above about 40mph and tailwind above 10mph can start to cause problems and stop commercial jets taking off and landing. It can sometimes be too windy to take-off or land.
