A stretch of National Highway-702A at New Colony, #Zunheboto has developed major cracks and continued ground movement amid persistent rainfall, prompting three families to dismantle their homes over the past two days after cracks spread into rooms and kitchens and the land beneath their settlement gave way. First reported yesterday and worsening further today,with fresh landsliding narrowing the highway. The situation has led residents, who say they are seeking preventive action rather than financial assistance, to appeal to the District Administration and Zunheboto Town Council for an urgent assessment and restoration work, along with proper maintenance of the alternate route via the Assam Rifles Camp as a backup connectivity option.
