Zorba, at the Melbourne Belly Dancing Space Coast 3rd annual Holiday Hafla 12/5/2020. First live, in-person performance in 10 months, very first time performing the Turkish Goblet Dance in a live setting, standing on inverted glass goblets. Thanx to the event hostess, Zaira, for both making this possible as well as giving me the 3 LED "candles" I put underneath the glasses - otherwise they would have disappeared in the dark with the contrasting lights. Finger cymbals are always hard to mic, but they can be heard if listened to carefully."Backstage" was literally "back of the stage", and the occasional veil flying overhead can be seen if one watches closely! Dark conditions hid most of my costume details, but it is what it is.
What's old is new again! Zorba, "The Veiled Male" is veiled indeed as he, as well as several of his dance sisters at this performance, wore that traditional Belly Dance accessory, the face veil - which is suddenly popular again!
