Werribee Open Range Zoo has welcomed four critically endangered plains-wanderer chicks after an unusually mild Melbourne winter created the perfect conditions for breeding.

Their dad Ozzy did most of the hard work, incubating the eggs after they were laid, with keepers saying it is the first time they have seen the species breed in captivity over winter.
