This salmon was partially eaten by a bear, but refused to die! In the summer and fall, it is not uncommon to see partially eaten salmon struggle to live. Salmon are incredible creatures. To witness them struggle through horrific injuries can provoke amazement at their tenacity while at the same time understanding their suffering.
