The ZIPPER malfunctioned on Friday night at a school carnival in the Pico-Union area, leaving several riders trapped inside at Our Lady of Loretto High School in the Pico-Union area around 9 p.m.
witness can be heard saying that some of the riders were trapped for up to an hour.
No injuries were reported.
The school was hosting a "Family Fun Day" event with carnival rides, food, live music, and a petting zoo.
The zipper ride was invented in 1968 by Joe Brown for chance rides
As of 2019 there are a total of 222 zipper amusement rides.
The ride stands 56 feet high with a total ride weight of 43,000 pounds
