It's not like this field in stage 4 is any secret. I think anyone who has spent more than five minutes in this level has found it. But it seems to me to be the most effective place to eat tons of food other than parts of stage 6. (And it's a lot easier to find a chance to have stage 4 all to yourself than stage 6.)
I alternated two slightly different paths, one that ends right where I entered the field and one that ends where I could climb to a higher level. If I needed to eat a lot more food per slime, I would just repeat the lush field again right from where I first entered it. If I needed only somewhat more food than in this video, I would climb up to the higher level with the telescopes, continue forward, and fall to another nice path that's full of grass and trees to end on.

I like how each level generally begins with the ball a little larger and able to roll up bigger things than at the start of the level before it.
The final two stages probably require a fairly strong PC. They were slow and choppy on my machine, sorry.
