The Zeebrugge Raid (April 23, 1918) was a daring Royal Navy operation to block the Bruges-Zeebrugge canal, stopping German U-boats from accessing the English Channel. Led by Vice Admiral Roger Keyes, British forces launched a frontal assault on the German-held mole using modified ships, suffering roughly 600 casualties while achieving limited, temporary success in blockading the harbour.
