Reuters reports that users of Z.ai’s coding assistant ZCode found their code repositories uploaded to Alibaba Cloud. Z.ai blamed Codebase Indexing, a feature on by default, and says it patched the problem, disabled features and open-sourced ZCode. Z.ai also says an assessment found the uploaded code had been deleted; users said they couldn’t verify that themselves.
