Ukraine’s former top general, Valerii Zaluzhny, now Kyiv’s ambassador to the UK, stated that Ukraine will never join NATO.

Speaking to Ukrainian diplomats, Zaluzhny argued that NATO doctrines are built for a past era, while Ukraine’s military has gained unique modern combat experience that doesn't easily fit into NATO's current structure. Instead, he suggested looking at alternative security frameworks, such as a European defense bloc or the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).
