Thanks for watching![Redux] Zelda: A Link to the Past–Credits Theme (viola/cello cover)Beanzo2020-06-11 | I made a cover of Zelda: A Link to the Past's credits theme a few years ago, and since then I've gotten a pair of much nicer mics, nicer instruments, and improved at both viola and cello. So I thought it would be fun to revisit this awesome music and do it even more justice!

The differences are slight, but now it is more in tune and has better balance between the parts. The old video is still up here: youtu.be/zpMyQd2wOM4Happy BirthdayBeanzo2017-12-03 | Created for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's 100th anniversary video contest (hence the SFCM shirts and logo)—it won the $1000 grand prize! Happy birthday to SFCM and happy birthday to you, maybe-birthday person!Max Reger - Allegro for 2 BeanzosBeanzo2017-11-12 | Allegro in D Major for 2 Violas (originally for 2 violins), composed 1907-1908. Performed by Beanzo and Beanzo, on 1st and 2nd viola respectively.
Max Reger may not be the most famous of composers, but his music certainly deserves more recognition. The harmonies fly by, changing keys in the blink of an eye. The music is so densely packed it can be difficult to follow at first, but with enough listening the genius of it comes through. This piece is full of beautiful melodies and thick chords that sound much larger than 2 violas, and it quickly became a favorite of mine when I first played it.7 Silly Old Stop-MotionsBeanzo2017-09-10 | I made these stupid little videos in Windows Live Movie Maker way back in middle school when I couldn't even keep the camera in focus. But they're still kinda cute and the only place they exist now is Facebook, so I thought I'd upload them here when I'm too busy to work much on other videos.Peaceful Castle on bottles (Zelda: A Link Between Worlds)Beanzo2017-08-18 | The heads and bottles travel to Hyrule for this nice little fugue from A Link Between Worlds.Bachs Beer Bottles: The Art of Fugue, Contrapunctus 3Beanzo2017-07-23 | Bach's Beer Bottles are back, baby! Now with all-new audio that's actually in tune! After the horizontal movement of Contrapunctus 2, I decided to use vertical movement for this installment. I continued to use only simple video transformations because the first 4 fugues in the collection are simple in structure, for the most part using the main subject in one form at a time. Contrapunctus 5 is where things start to get more complicated (as if Bach's fugues aren't complex enough already).

Made with ocarina, tambourine, strings, and a cloning machine.
It's kind of incredible how an upbeat tune like Ocarina of Time's Lost Woods can turn melancholy when a different accompaniment is used. You can just feel the decades upon decades that have passed between the two settings, leaving the woods a lifeless shell, the only memory of its former life a faint melody floating through the air...

My arrangement features Skyward Sword's soaring violin harmonies and the 25th Anniversary Soundtrack's harp duet (here a violin duet), using quite a few guitars and allywally94 on violin. This is basically everyone's favorite Zelda song so I did my best to make it as perfect as I possibly could. I put a ton of time into making sure every shot worked just as I wanted it to and every bit of audio sounded the best it could be. I hope you enjoy!
Special thanks to my sound recording professor for giving me tons of tips and helping me master all the audio, to my high school orchestra director for letting me use the school's harp, and to Zack for transporting the harp to where it needed to be.
Gerudo Valley from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time played on harp and viola. There are only two different hands in this video, and every sound was made by the instruments you see.Bachs Beer Bottles: The Art of Fugue, Contrapunctus 2Beanzo2014-10-20 | The second in my series of videos on Bach's The Art of Fugue, which he wrote as a demonstration of what he could do with one simple theme. I'm using it as a way to experiment with different methods of video presentation using the same footage. The heads in the last video were complaining about having to move around so much, so this time I had the bottles move instead.
Bach wrote this series of 14 or so fugues as an exercise to demonstrate the amount of material that could be made from just one simple theme. As such, I will be making the rest of the fugues using the same footage as this video, adding as many visual variations as I can think of. It'll take a while though, so don't hold your breath.
