Rome 2 - Testing Testudo Again (does it do anything?) Volound 2013-09-21 | Test begins at 7:15Conclusion: Testudo provides an overall 20-40% bonus to protection against missiles. Some tests occasionally have a 45-50% reduction in losses. In other tests, testudo doesn't appear to confer any advantage whatsoever and both units take equal losses. We try a few scenarios and they demonstrate that testudo is almost completely useless in a real world (in-game) situation; the 20-40% protection against projectiles comes at a 70-80% (or something) reduction in speed, which means that you take entire magnitudes of extra losses by utilising testudo for charging down a missile unit. Absurd. The only time testudo would really help is during a siege when you need a "scapegoat" unit and it has to be legionaries. You could plant that unit within firing range of the static, invulnerable towers to draw their attention while quicker and more fragile units assault. That's a really contrived scenario and that's about it. Warhammer 3 Multiplayer is Dead - and CA killed it. Volound 2022-12-28 | This could be the moment the largely grassroots bottom-up Warhammer TW MP scene gets killed, and the decision to have that happen was entirely in CA's hands, and their choice was largely enabled by the TW community at large, with its under-the-thumb youtubers largely responsible.
